Imao, they used Banh Xeo with the Karage. Since I'm vietnamese, I know what banh xeo is, so I'm especially interested in finding out how that tastes with the meat XD

Definitely yes. I like it a lot. It's cooking with ecchi moments, so be aware of that. As for them, yes, that's the ideal. It's the slow process style of buildup, but you get the idea the target. Unless we get swerved and the other one wins, even though it wouldn't be as bad, it does leave the other character and theme (more or less) puzzling. You will know by chapter 1. Heck, chapter 1, you get the idea on the connection. I made it obvious in my first impression.

It's very entertaining. I like it :) Nice artstyle, but beware of the excessive ecchi scenes in the beginning stages Well, Soma x Erina is what I am shipping XD It's been forshadowed since chapter 1, so I'm certain that it will happen. The buildup is subtle and slow though, so you might or might not like Erina in the beginning, just saying. There's another popular pairing, SomaxMegumi, that I don't think any of us in here would mind becoming cannon though :)

Well both Erina and Souma were created first, they were the central point in the one parter, thankfully the mangaka didn't change the story so much from the one parter that the main two didn't work as well after the story was fleshed out.

 

So why do you guys think Yukihara senior quit school early? My guess is either his girlfriend was pregnant and he had to get a job, or something happened with his girlfriends family which led him to quit school and take over her family business.

That's a good guess. Knowing Erina is the same age as Soma (right?), I wonder at what point have Yukihara meet Nakiri family and such. Why different name actually?

The pregnant theory is definitely not possible. Jouichirou is 38 as of right now, meaning Soma was born when he was 23. He quit school when he was like 17 or 18 though He prob travelled the world, and met his wife somewhere along the line. Or maybe she was also a Totsuki student, who knows?

In the oneshot, both were 16, but at the beginning of the manga, they were 15. Both should be 16 now though since half a year has passed.

I often wonder if the pacing will always stay like this... I don't want wait ages for them to be third years

He's 38? Cool I'm so used to seeing male charactors in their late twenties drawn like they are in their 30's and charactors in their 30 look 50 plus, I fully expected him to be in his early thirties, the classmate who was the number one seat looks like he could be in his late twenties.

Actually has it been confirmed his wife died Or is it like with Luffy's mother where most just assumed she was deadbecause the the manga never mentioned it?I know it's an old trick that's used in so many manga's but it certainly works, because I really want to know about Jouchirou's past.

 

Who knows maybe Erina's situation emulates Souma's mother, and the end of chapter 52.5 was a hint to the world Souma's mother couldn't escape from...it would be interesting if that is the case.

Jouchirou and Dojima really look young for their age XD I mean, even Alice's mom looks like she's in her late twenties, lol.

I've always wondered why Soma's father changed his surname. When the time comes that we'll finally find out what is up with it, I hope maybe it'll be a mini arc, or spinoff like you suggested. There's literally no hint about Soma's mom. All we know is that her last name is Yukihira. I remember that Jouichiro once said though that Soma doesn't know his grandparents: Does his Jouichirou mean his own parents or those of his wife? And what reason is there that Soma doesn't know them? Maybe Jouichiro doesn't get along with them?

Yes! This series is really really awesome, it's like one of those shonens that's really different from the rest. Just be aware of the Ecchi moments, it'll die a bit down when you read more of it, but still.
