Anabelle’s Room
“Just throw your bag on the bed,” Anabelle tells me. I do so.
“I’ll be right back. Gonna get some milk.” I laugh. She always was obsessed with milk, even when we were little and going to school together. She smiles and walks out her bedroom door.
I trip-fall onto her bed (which is unnaturally close to the floor) and look around her room. I’ve been here before, although every time I come, it always looks different as her tastes change. Walls where Justin Bieber and Katy Perry posters once hung now showed off Hatsune Miku and Zelda from Legend of Zelda. On her desk, where the main attraction was once plushies that looked like anime characters were now overshadowed by a cut-out Nyan Cat that her friend made her. I smirked. If I ever needed to know if Anabelle liked something, all I needed to do was look at her wall.
“Too bad you forgot to bring Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. They don’t have that movie on Netlix Instant,” she tells me as she walks back into her room, carrying two cups: a glass of milk for her, a mug of hot chocolate for me. Oh, yeah. That was a new one. She is now the world’s biggest Scott Pilgrim fan, as prophesized by the huge poster on her wall. Although, the news wasn’t as big as the news I heard from her last year as I was ordering pizza:
“Oh, by the way, Ashtyn, I’m a vegetarian now.”
“What? But you eat chicken nuggets every night!”
“Yeah, well, I don’t anymore. I was suddenly made aware of the cruelty of slaughterhouses, so I don’t eat meat anymore.”
“So, I’m guessing you don’t want pepperonis?”
“Nope.”
I ordered cheese.
I smile at the memory. Looking at her right wall, I notice something that was always and will forever be there: her framed collection of Broadway playbills. That’s one thing we have in common- our love of theatre. Anabelle is lucky, though- she gets to visit New York City very often. I’ve never been there. She already has a large number of frames on her wall; however, the bag beside her bed that was filled with playbills suggested she needs more.
I once again look at her desk. It’s positively covered in memorabilia from different places around the country: New York, Miami, California, etc. As if I needed another reason to be jealous of her, a fact we like to joke about. She’s a traveler, for sure; in fact, she was in between different vacations as I was visiting her. I would be too uncomfortable, being away from home so often, but traveling is in Anabelle’s blood.
Finally, my eyes avert to her bedside table. There are various souvenirs, mostly New Yorkian; however, one thing in particular stands out to me- a picture of me and her, back when we were in elementary school together. She’s flashing a hammy smile while I shyly look at the camera. For sure, this was the perfect picture for our dynamic back in elementary school- she was the loud, energetic one, and I was the shy, quiet one. Our friendship worked, though, because she always had a way of getting me out of my shell.
“Yo, Kona! (That’s her nickname for me.) What you starin’ at?” I snapped back to reality to realize that she was still offering me the hot chocolate. I accepted it and answered her.
“Oh, nothing… Your room changes every time I’m here. Just gathering my bearings.”
She snorted. “Whatever, girly. Oh, guess what happened last week?”
We leaned back on her Wicked headboard and started talking the night away.
Critique before I hand this in?

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or just plain ignorance, but if you're going to comment after that post, the least you could do is offer some constructive criticism. Hmm?

Oh nothing I was just skimming through and I didn't read it properly sorry. But do you know what's the point of the assignment?
I didn't read it properly, is that such a problem? -___- And I HAVE NO criticisms because what people creatively write is not right or wrong in my views.

Then why did you comment before you properly read it?

The point of the assignment is addressed in the first line of her post.
And I said constructive criticism. "Umm, what?" Is a criticism. One that had far more reaching consequences then you realized. I'm not jumping down your throat, but Kona specifically asked for a critique before she handed in the assignment. Just because I think something should be changed doesn't mean I'm right or she's wrong.

Sigh* It's fine, just lay off the slang if your teacher is the stiff, no nonsense type. Happy?
