It's not just that but it's the SECOND time she has tried to die infront of/for Naruto. It's disturbing.

It's more defensible than the first time, though. If Kishimoto hadn't written in the first time, we would have gotten a NS ending, probably. That kitten fed nH fans so hard that he ultimately ended up changing the story to serve them, even though it also resolved Hinata's feelings via her smile.

There is a very good chance that Naruto would have been fine regardless vs Pain. Vs Juubi, I can at least see the argument that she was providing a service that could not be substituted, given that there was some garbage about how Rotation wouldn't work.

Yea we can argue the SECOND attempt was better founded, but the reaction after just ruins it.

And the first time, in her own words was her being selfish, which implies even she knew it wasn't necessary to jump in.

The warm hand is gross because she's smiling and getting charged up off of it. This is not the reaction a normal person would have. She would be angry and determined to destroy the enemies, not fantasizing about Naruto. Granted Naruto also reacts this way to some extent, but he has both less reason to care about Neji and less responsibility in his death.

Redacted has a really misanthropic view of the events that happen in this series.

You know what I found gross. She stood still. In one panel, she stopped blocking the attacks. She used her body as a shield and because of that Neji jumped in the air and got stabbed. She planned to die in front of Naruto again. She did the exact same thing as when she challenged Pain. It's like she wants to be a sacrifice. It was confusing and unnecessary. Kishi so easily could've done it differently - if she simply wasn't quick enough. But you could see it wasn't that.

I don't hate Hinata for it, because I don't understand any of it at all. I can't imagine why Kishimoto would write it like that. Except if he wanted people to dislike her, so when the audience reacted the opposite way he lost his mind.

Just add Analyzer to your ignore user list problem solved.

Yep. I believe by replying we make her feel validated here. I won't do that for her.

Your complaint makes no logical sense.

NARUTO has plot armor. End of.

Hinata does not value her life, repeatedly tries to commit suicide infront of someone and as a result people die. Is it altruistic when she says herself she's just being selfish?

Writing degree my butt.

A person's reaction to something can't be generalized like this. Some might be angry and determined, others might be comforted.  Saying one or the other isn't normal is odd, given her character, her reaction does make sense, and I would say, certainly not abnormal.

Continuing to characterize it as being comforted = bwahaha. Also, actually being willing to enter into an argument where you try to defend Kishi's characters from a human psychology perspective is you falling into a massive trap, so you're actually lucky no one wants to respond to you. I'll let AHK deal with this tedious crap.

Yes, she's clearly still broken up over Neji, but is bravely pushing on. Kishi even left part of the dead Neji in the panel to make this even more clear. Hinata is still so heartbroken that he died. I would characterize this as she's strictly just being comforted by Naruto. She's clearly not also excited and maybe even a little turned on. God, this is really pathetic if Kishi actually expected people to like her based on this scene like sushi said.

Neji just died for you. No one wants to hear how safe you now feel. You're safe because of him, not because of Naruto.

To add to this is the salt that Neji ended up being his father 2.0, something he DIDN'T want to be originally. He wanted to break out of the cycle. His father had to die for Hinata, now he does too? there is nothing nice about it. Hinata should be in-kittening-consolable.

A true reality is that NH and SS type of relationships can only exist in fictional settings. In real life, it would never happen and it nowhere near as realistic as the pro-enders make it out to be. If these characters were real, Sakura would have moved on a long long time ago, NS would probably be canon. I supposed Naruto and Hinata could date, but seeing how shy Hinata is, Naruto wouldn't even notice her since she doesn't talk much to him. No matter how much you love someone, if you don't say anything you will never have a chance. Naruto would either never notice her or eventually get so bored that NH just ends with them not being compatible. Oviously SS wouldn't even happen in the first place.

Shikatema is probably the only realistic looking relationship in the whole bunch...which is ironic since Kishimoto said that he wasn't going to give Shikamaru a love affair. Funny how the one he didn't even force is the one that worked out in it's entirely and everyone agrees with.

Shikatema is the only relationship 100% of the fans agree with.

She completely ignored the my whiskers inconsistently.

I want to quote Ben Shapiro on this one:

Ben Shapiro: "I Don't Need A 7-Year Degree In Sociology To Know BS When I Hear It"

I have taken writing courses in college and I have lived with my mother who has a doctorith in reading and writing who pounded her lessons into me everyday for the last 27 years. Does this qualify me to have a better opinion than you? (Rhethorical)

And during the times SS does (start to) happen, Sakura's friends and family would be doing everything they could convince her how lousy Sasuke is and to get out quick. Guys like Sasuke (at least if he was consistently written) only escalate dangerously in their abusive actions, and Sakura constantly hounding him for affection that he clearly doesn't want to give would only worsen his attitude towards her.

NH is okay from a real life standpoint. A lot of people just aren't really that romantic. Someone like Hinata really is the depiction of an ideal wife in a lot of cultures. There are a lot of dudes who would turn up their noses at spending the rest of their life with someone like Sakura when they could have someone like Hinata. Unless she had her personality which she uses around Sasuke, which is basically the same as Hinata. In that case though, it would be creepy because she's dumbing herself down to serve some idealized version of something. This is something that is not realistic.

Sad, but true. A lot of people (believe they) want what amounts more to a glorified servant than an equal partner.

Awesome point. This is something that absolutely would happen. if SS ultimately ended up happening, Sakura would be doing it at a great kittening cost. It would be incredibly hard for her to stay committed to that decision. This is something that ending fans never even think about. It's totally divorced from reality.

My problem with this isn't that Neji is laying behind. Feeling safe, is not something one should do on a battlefield. You know, while getting ready to fight the world's strongest villain. She should've said that on their first datenight. Then I would understand why this is a celebrated moment. Not to mention she's a trained shinobi. Comrades should support eachother but she shouldn't need her companion's hand while fighting. It shows without Naruto she's undetermined to fight. She showed that again in 633.

And what you say here is true, Sushi. It shows how pathetic Hinata really is deep down without Naruto, and why she should have grown to NOT need him to be strong.

She actually showed that attitude as early as the Chunin Exams. She was ready to give up solely because of Neji's WORDS alone before he ever landed a single physical blow on her. She ONLY got the will to fight back AFTER Naruto's yelling (which, as mentioned a bunch of times, was because of Neji insulting his values, NOT because of any "special feelings" towards Hinata herself). Naruto is basically akin to a security blanket, like Linus and his blanket from Peanuts. If he's not right there, Hinata is just a wet noodle.

There was a storyline where Linus successfully breaks his dependence on it but then Lucy just throws it back to him, thinking he's doing him a favor. So Linus at least knew it wasn't healthy and tried to stop. Hinata said she was going to stop chasing him but ultimately didn't.

Hinata said she'd stand beside Naruto and not behind him. She does stand beside him in the war, and then after the ending Kishi bullies Hinata fans by saying naah she's the one who watches from the shadows.

I actually feel sorry for them, even if they like our rival pairing Kishimoto is too petty and mocking his own fans.
