Yeah, if she never brought up Sasuke, it's obvious that he would have been "fooled". She just used to care so much about Sasuke, and Naruto also cares so much about Sasuke, to an inhuman degree. So that statement just sounds ridiculous. And maybe he doesn't even want to be with her if she has that view, who knows. I think what he wanted to hear was "I still want to save Sasuke, but you're the one I want to be with." Which Sakura was unlikely to say, given that the next thing she did was to try to kill Sasuke. She hasn't really worked through any of the feelings she has. She just knows that thinking about Sasuke hurts her but thinking about Naruto doesn't.

 

There's a strong possibility that Naruto didn't ever want to accept under these circumstances. He wanted to bring back Sasuke and have her pick him anyway because she loves him now. He doesn't want the feeling that he won just because Sasuke happened to be evil. It doesn't make him feel good about himself. So he doesn't want to comfort Sakura in this case and instead treats her like garbage... Rivalry? Because if he truly loved Sakura over all other people including Sasuke, he would never have done this.

In the end, it comes down to one simple problem...Naruto was too obssesed with Sasuke. This is the reason why people say Naruto has a secret homosexual fetish for Sasuke because of that obsession. The dude could never accept anything about Sasuke that he didn't want to. Naruto is almost as bad as the pro-enders...if you say anything bad about Sasuke...Naruto flipped his kitten...and not in "brotherly way" either. He did it in temper tantrums and hyperventilating. Who the hell hyperventilates over their friends being a douchebag?

I had a friend who became a douchebag too and I never once hyperventilated. Heck, the only time I came close to hyperventilating was when my fiance of 5 years left me because my mother controlled my life. I was extremely emotional, confused, and what not, but I still retained my senses. The worst I did was property destruction and lots of anger, but this was when my fiance broke up with me...NOT when my best friend treated people like kitten.

You know what I did after that? I secluded myself, spent time putting my life back together going from untterly not caring to making a promisee never to let my mother control me again like that. I didn't go after my fiance, I didn't obsess over her, I just let it go. Why couldn't Naruto do the same? Sasuke is a terrorist. He attacked and attempted to kill the Kages....that's terrorism. He threatened to control everyone and everything...that's terrorism.

All of this happened because Naruto could not let go.
People complain about Sakura's obsession, but in my mind Naruto was far more obsessed with Sasuke to the point that he dictated everyone's lives around him. Not just his own.

If it was me, I would be like,

"Naruto. Shut up. You're trying to make it seem like I am the bad guy because I want to see justice for the families all because you don't want Sasuke to be hurt. F--- you."
"But...revenge...bad....no hate. I am begging you."
"Begging is for the weak. Did Sasuke stop when everyone begged him to stop? No. You want to stop me you're going to have to kill me. If you think Sasuke's life is more important than everyone else's, then you're going to have to kill me. I am not going to stop until justice is sought. If Sasuke puts up no resistance there will be no more blood shed, but if Sasuke chooses to fight then I have no control over what willl happen next. If I die, what will you do, Naruto? Will you see my life as my own choice or would you see Sasuke as the true cold blooded killer he is? I fight for justice. Then go off looking for Sasuke. You never see characters like this. You never saw a character who was so adamant and so passionate about their goals like Naruto was obsessed with Sasuke. Everyone just fell for the TNJ every time.

You're going to run into people that are like "Well, too bad."

I highly disagree on your first statement, if we're talking pairings, because NH and SS was always the intent. If we're not talking pairings, the Naruto Sasuke fight was also always intended. The ending was built up to, and I honestly think 700 is a fine chapter for what it is.

Yeah, he didn't get Sakura for this reason. Why would Sakura ever view Naruto as being better than Sasuke if Naruto doesn't even view himself that way? When he should be able to since Sasuke is a total bastard? It's not compatible with the way Sakura feels. She liked Naruto and Sasuke was hurting her. Naruto says you better not forget about Sasuke or I'll hurt YOU. So of course it doesn't work out.

I'm not going to sit around quoting every little thing you write. If the quote about Kishimoto's own words are wrong, find the right version. You keep interjecting things you THINK he meant into what he actually said. Find where he said "because Naruto is now a HERO it would be fickle for Sakura to suddenly love him." you won't because its not what he said.

Exactly. It has nothing to do with -Her- its about SASUKE. Sakura has to sacrifice her integrity so Sasuke gets something nice. Sakura is an object for someone to be given and in this case its Sasuke.

In a way, it's good, because Sasuke doesn't deserve to be with the real Sakura. I'm fine with him being with this psychotic, obsessed sycophant wearing Sakura's face as a mask. I feel bad that Karin didn't get to be with him, is all. She's probably really kittening sick of Suigetsu at this point.

Something even Sakura was willing to do before Naruto's stupidity kicked in. No wonder she was mad during the confession. "You think I am lying to myself? What do you know?" And, again, this is why I loved that bit with Ay taking Naruto's pathetic begging, throwing it back in his face, calling him a weak little b****, telling him to grow up and that this is the reality of things.

And Sasuke even tried to beat that into Naruto at the end of part one, hence the "How could you possibly understand?! I have lost everything! You never had anything to begin with!" line.

Naruto kept thinking that just because they were "alone" as kids (regardless of circumstances), that somehow made them "the same" on every level. This only further shows how Naruto doesn't truly know or understand anything about anyone unless they're much more similar to himself and yet we're expected to believe he's SO empathetic.

Exactly. To be honest, if you were to tell me that the only reason why Sasuke stopped his plan, "married" Sakura, and gave her a child of his made by Karin was only because he wanted Naruto to get off his back and shut up...I would not be surprised.

They say that the Uchiha were the ones who were cursed with "loving too much," but relooking at the the series, especially from the Kage Summit and on, Sasuke seems like the only one who isn't a crazy psychopath.

Naruto was the most crazy of them all. He was so obsessed with wanting attention and love that he tried to get it from Sasuke and when he didn't get it, he freaked. Notice how when the entire village loved him he practically ignored it even though it was exactly what we wanted. So Sakura is not really crazy...Naruto just tortured her into being crazy. Naruto tortured the entire nations into being crazy. He is even trying to do this with Bolt who by the way still is a renegade against his father. Whenever Bolt points out somethng that is logically correct, Naruto tells him to sit down and shut up.

Sasuke is with Sakura because she's similar enough in attitude to Naruto that on the few occasions he's had to be in a room with her alone he can close his eyes and pretend it's Naruto he's just settling for convenience.

Or the fem Naru picks Gaara or Shikamaru over him and Sasuke is jealous. Again the only time Sasuke would ever be jealous over a woman. If Sakura left him for Naruto right now the only question he would ask is "So what do we do about Sarada?"

Yeah , people say Naruto understand how Sasuke feel. I say that's BS , Sasuke wish is to be left alone , but Naruto didn't understand this. If hes going the wrong path , knock some sense into him , twice is more than enough , first battle and then after danzo death. In my opinion Naruto FORCE his will into him , because Naruto is selfish , i understand that hes like brother and best friend and rival , but that doesn't mean hes BELONG to you. Hes the first bond hes ever make so he don't want to lose him , people free to choose what they want to choose , but if it's wrong you can try to talk to him but no force him , if he still persist then let him go , if he ended up become criminal and hurt your allies , then you have no choice except to put him down.

At the end Sakura says to Sasuke "If you come back, I'm sure things can go back to the way they were..." When Sasuke has no interest in things going back to the way they were! His brother and the rest of his family are still dead. This would have offended and angered Sasuke so much.

 

But then he ends up marrying her? Seriously, the ending makes no sense at all.

You know here is something I've been thinking about for a long time, and it's the topic of nostalgia. As far as I can remember I've seen tons an tons of people defend the Naruto series even when it comes to it's flaws especially the major a ss pools ya'll know what I'm referring to, and the ending especially because of Nostalgia.... 

 

Now here is the thing Nostalgia is a period or place of reminiscing fond memories. That by itself is very subjective. 

 

I don't think Nostalgia alone is enough to justify the quality of the series because Bleach to me I've got great memories of, but I don't use the Nostaglia of Bleach to justify it as an amazing series cause I know that yeah the series was great at this point, and could've been perfect before the quality went down. 

 

A series should be judged from a critical perspective not through the needs of nostalgia cause that just blinds you. The same thing can be said about Naruto, I've got great memories of Naruto more so from Part 1, then Part 2, but that doesn't decide my factor of the series being amazing. It just means the series was great here, and then it just went down. 

 

 

I mean lets face it most people will agree that Naruto Part 1 was amazing from start to finish. I agree with that too to an extent, but look at this way that's 244 chapters out of 700.  after that you've got loop of occasional goods, and a lot of what the hell is that? That's the rest of the 456 chapters. 

 

 

 

Last i check 244 chapters of Part 1 is 35% of the series 

The final 65% of the series is Part 2. 

 

 

Most of the problems the Naruto series has stems from Part 2 more so then Part 1, and once again that's 65% of the series that is saying something. I mean you guys know I really like the first half of Part 2,  but I won't pretend like the problems are there cause they stick out especially after Pain. 

 

 

You know what though, just on the topic of Nostalgia I'm gonna just share this.
