From what I hear if the merchandise does not sell that well in Japan then that means the anime there could be closed down and if this is right and Naruto merchandise does stop there then it could mean Naruto will be stopped for good.

I just watched a few secs of the video, the guy's an idiot and thinks the other side of the world decides if japanese games are actually good, riiiight, I wonder why rockman operate shooting star never came here then if america and the other countries decided if japanese games do well? I wonder why the other countries are the big difference when the digimon games still have alot of good games that are japan only? 

apparently he and others went on the actual japanese feedback page  of a game company that's for the japanese market acting like they're entitled to the games instead of MAKING A PETITION LIKE MOST PEOPLE   no wonder the japanese fans were pissed....

I assume they just got annoyed. They actually guessed that the ending only happened because of the west, and kishi saying this confirms what they have been guessing for the past year. The only thing is they probably looked at those guys stuff and then went really this is who kishi wanted to listen to instead of us. The people that had friends in japan probably brought up that they (nH reviewers) are the only on that like the ending in the states and they are only the most vocal part of the fanbase not the largest. But i don't have Japanese friend nor can i read Japanese so it best you find someone that does to confirm it.

Yeah, I saw it on iTunes yesterday, don't know how long its been available there but I agree what self-respecting Naruto fan (aside from the pairing fans) would want to buy it. And then I looked at the reviews, and like 95% of them were 4+ stars all praising the film, only like one review was saying it was just a sappy love story

I don't trust iTunes comments to begin with... but that's kind of ridiculous to say the least

So he admit in the title he pissed off the Japanese fans, but his first thought is then to tell his audience that the Japanese fans should just get over it?

 

Now before i do anything else let me state my opinion on why most Japanese games really never leave their country. I have sister that constantly complains about it when a game comes out she wants in Japan but isn't coming over to the states, so i had to think about this before. I think it stems from the same reason they did the Naruto ending they way they did. Most of them either don't want to risk making their game international or can't afford to make their games international.

 

Let look at Naruto vs one piece vs bleach games. Have most of you seen more naruto games come to the states then either or those other two? Why is that? Well Oda said in the interview with kishi, he may have japan market but kishi has the international market. So because of this mind-set the probably exist throughout SJ that Naruto sells big and better internationally then both Bleach and one piece. They're more willing to make Naruto's game so international more frequently over one piece or bleach or any other SJ protagonist (except Dragonball of course) because they feel assured that the game will sell well, while they don't have such confidence with both One piece and Bleach. You can say the same thing with pokemon or metal gear or resident evil or final fantasy. Those developers feel assured those game will sell well internationally.

 

Now lets look at Naruto The Last movie a movie made for the American fanbase in theory. This is the story the American fanbase always wanted, they dreamed about, they craved for, and would be willing to pay money for. SP and SJ had such confidence that the international and more importantly US fanbase would give so much money that they were willing to risk losing the Japanese fanbase for this movie enough to convince kishi to make the ending nH. Well what happened was that Japanese fanbase that have outright hatred for the movie still gave them $16 million, while in the US the people this movie was made for only shell out a measly $500,000. Now let take that and apply it to games. Let say a game in Japan makes $16 million which they consider successful enough to decide they want to ship it to the US where they then make $500,000. Would you consider going international for those developers worth it? Cause remember it not a flat out $500,000 you would have to factor in production, localization, and, distribution among other things into it. At the end of the day they may have even lost money.

 

Now I doubt a game would make so little money but the point still stands that Japanese developers may not want to risk their game not making enough money by going international that they would rather their games simply stay in Japan. Why spend money when you can't even expect a return in profit? My make a big risk when you might not make a return on it? A way to convince the developers are those petitions, because those give enough confidence to the developers that there are enough people around the world that want to play their game for them to risk them going international with their game.

 

Ok. Now to read the comment section (I really don't like listening to foreverworld). Whelp I have forgotten what it is like to read a YouTube comment section.*sigh* OK from what i can understand from the comments is that forever world and others were voting on a site for the next "musou" game. The Dynasty Warrior style games. From the comments it sounds like World was voting for a either a Naruto mosou game (yep that will piss the Japanese off since most of them want Naruto franchise to die already) or Bleach (which is only barely hanging on and is basically one foot in the grave with the mangaka continuously delaying the execution...also it apparently already has a musou game in fact i think it was release in the US) while the Japanese wanted a Love Live mosou game (... I have never heard of it and have no clue what that is *look for a wiki site* http://love-live.wik.../wiki/Main_Page ...ah *scrolls down*...well... it claims to have over 20 million player world wide). Wait forever world goes to "planet fitness?!" Also he seemed to use google translate to read the comments. So he doesn't have a friend in Japan?

 

While most of them supported him or called the Japanese xenophobic then suggest nuking Japan again for being racist and to force them to globalize. Their were some good ones:

Also Fairy Tale. So he was using google translate. So he does not speak Japanese and i doubt he has a friend who speaks Japanese. So the Japanese were getting pissed at them and he was confused about why because he believe that Japanese game succeed because of the "other-side of the world" was buying those games. If you want to look at the bright side, now every writer can look at Kishimoto and see what happens if you listen to your fans to such a degree. It leads to you destroying your own work.

Unfortunately, it's more and more common US ignorance and "exceptionalism" at work over here from what it looks like. We think that just because the US is the sole superpower post-Cold War that the entire world should strive to be exactly like us while somehow also assuming it IS like us at the same time, so when we see another country doing things differently, many of the "common" folk just can't comprehend why the other countries do it that way and not the way they themselves are used to doing/thinking/seeing it. We don't seem to (want to) grasp the idea of different types of demographics, different cultures (outside of food), different ideas, etc. and ignoring any negative effects our own method of doing things may have while demonizing other countries' methods, like trying to brag about how health care in the US is "the best in the world" while trying to find some way to demonize other countries actually having real great healthcare that actually works as opposed to so many people here in the US being unable to get health care and idiot "conservative" governors/senators refusing to use it or trying to get rid of it simply because of who the President is.

Not only that but authors and mangaka that have been inspired by Kishi works knew it all went to waste, especially the main characters will now be recycled into ideals and head straight for "Public Domain" for there own personal use. I'm doing Naruto and Sakura's characters and their developments in my stories.

As an upcoming writer my best advice when it comes to the fans would be this, "I appreciate the support you guys have toward the world and characters within my story, but wishful fulfillments will not happen because it can ultimately change the story's direction in a negative light and lower the quality of the story if such events were occur from the wishes of the fans. Remember the author is the key factor for the fate of the story and that is important because a story is ultimately led by the author's vision."

As an upcoming writer my best advice when it comes to the fans would be this, "I appreciate the support you guys have toward the world and characters within my story, but wishful fulfillments will not happen because it can ultimately change the story's direction in a negative light and lower the quality of the story if such events were occur from the wishes of the fans. Remember the author is the key factor for the fate of the story and that is important because a story is ultimately led by the author's vision."

Here's the thing there's nothing really wrong with listening to your audience as long as it doesn't go against what you want.

For example if you find out that character x is more popular with the audience then there's nothing wrong with giving character x more screen time. That would basically be a "Hey I do listen to you guys, I'm paying attention. I know you guys are the reason I'm here."

But never let that destroy your original plan, your story, your work, your baby so to say.
