First of all, the new series I've picked up are Akatsuki no Yona, Noragami, Boku no Hero Academia, and Tokyo Ghoul. Currently watching Haikyu. I'm trying to find something in every genre to have some variety in the mangas I'm reading. All of these mangas and animes are currently ongoing, and I know that there's always a chance that I might be disappointed in the future with the ending of on of the mangas. For many people, the ending to a series is paramount, including me. But I don't want something atrocious such as the ending to Naruto to stop me from giving other mangas that are unaffected by Naruto a chance. I'll take the risk if there's a possibilty for me to feel satisfied for once with the ending for a series that I've devoted myself to. It's been a while since I've been completely satisfied with the ending to a series.
Naruto was the only manga that I was reading at the time, but now that it's over, and the ending turned out to be a piece of kitten, I've been open to reading new and better manga now. Also watching new and better anime too. Probably one of the only good things that came out of this ending for me
I agree. If there was anything positive about the ending, it's that many disappointed fans started picking up other mangas. You'll be surprised what the world of manga and animes offers. There's a wide range of genres, and I think anyone can find something that they like- if they are willing to give mangas/animes a try after what happened with Naruto.
It completely stopped reading mangas/watching animes

On a different note, the rumor with the season thing is so dumb
Not gonna blame you. Naruto left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. You think, you'll ever get into anything manga or anime related again?
Manga and anime itself not really because like I said multiple times the media in which the story is delivered is irrelevant. It's the story that matters.
To be honest Naruto is the first and so far only manga I've read. And it left much a bad taste in my mouth that for now I really don't want to read another story for a couple of good years not knowing if it will end with me wishing I never read it in the first place or not.
That's true of course. Qualitywise, Naruto is far from perfect.
For many readers, Naruto seems to have been the first and only manga so far. It sucks that this had to be your first experience, really. If you do ever give mangas/animes a try again in the future, start out with series that are already finished and have generally been given good reception.
I'm not really in anime mood right now, not just because of Naruto tho. I just need a break sometimes. x)
I took a break from animes and mangas, too for a couple of weeks XD It was just too much for me. If you follow a series like Naruto for yrs, being disappointed like that demotivates you to anything else.
I think I'll stick to small series and stuff wich has already endet, so I won't be dissapointed anymore, lol.
No, for real now. Naruto was the only "big" and "popular" series I've read - And I got massivly disappointed since everything was just ... "please the fanbase" in the end.
I don't think I'll actively follow any other big and popular series again. I recently started watching "The Legend of Korra" - and it was just the same. So I dropped it.
Big popular Series? Never again.
For me, Naruto was the first popular series that I've actively followed for yrs and finished with many other fans at the same time.
I think starting with finished series is a good idea. At least you know you won't be disappointed. Recommending FMA if you haven't given it a try yet. I haven't given it a try yet, but I don't think anyone is disappointed from this manga.
When and where did you dropped Korra? Season 2 is bad, but Season 3 and 4 were really great- and that is the fandom's general opinion.
Well, it did put me on hiatus on watching and looking for new anime/manga for a month or so. After my LAPs, I'll be moving forward for good. I'm not as damaged like before, but I feel like I should have my own closure. So I'm doing that now. Tokyo Ghoul is like the very first thing I see.
Ditto. Didn't watch animes or read mangas for a while. I was really damaged, to the point that it was almost pathetic from me tbh. Naruto made me realize that you should limit your expectations and simply enjoy the ride.
Tokyo Ghoul- Great choice. I'll promise you, you won't be disappointed b/c so far, anyone who picked it up praised the manga.
Well, I only got into things that alteady ended. But nothing can change this, there almost no stories, that I spend so much years to follow, and that's sad.
It never hurts to give new ongoing mangas a try, but what you do is a good safety plan.
I spend eight yrs reading and watching Naruto. I set up my hopes way to high for this manga, but Kishi disappointed us.
I pretty much stopped reading. Because I've been proved right about something that I've been thinking for quite a while. I feel that they just don't do manga as amazing as they were before. I will probably only read old manga from now on. Both shoujo and shonen genres lost a great deal quality.
Today's shoujo are in almost all cases terrible, all similar, boring with cringeworthy heroines and always always the same story, with very few exceptions like Kimi ni Todoke and Kamisama Hajimemakittena, but even then they're still re-using the same old themes and they're not as good as the really old ones like Anatolia Story, Tokimeki Tonight, Crystal Dragon or Sailor Moon (even fought SM is not that old)and I could go on and add more but lets stop with these. Shounen...well...I had hopes but...Bleach became super boring and Naruto got destroyed, Fairy Tail is nice but I'm just not into it anymore. I can't bring myself to read anything for now.
*sighs*
What I'll read are silly josei manga like the ones from Yoshihara Yuki and slightly more serious ones like the ones from Ueda Rinko, her stories are cute and I love her drawings. And this is pretty much it.
I might read Naruto part 3, but just to make silly podcasts with Tsuki in order to mock the general idiocy of it all.
There are a lot of good old mangas that I haven't picked up yet or would love to reread again.
Shoujos back then were a lot better; actaully, it was that genre that introduced me into the manga world- or to be precise the magical girl genre, lol. But like you said, there are still some good shoujo mangas out there; you just have to look out for them.
As for Shounen... I'll pick up Bleach and One Piece up again this summer. I honestly love the shounen genre, but have had my bad experiences with it too. I would have recommended to you Boku no Hero Academia, but since you only want to give finished series a try, never mind.
Ever tried out Seinen? Tokyo Ghoul is a really good manga, and I promise you that you won't be disappointed.
I knew of anime when I was kid :o So before Naruto ended, it made me picky with anime because I saw the story going down, now due to this ending I feel glad that I just watch adaptation of games I played or an old being made new like how Sailor Moon and Fate are, also I barely read manga lol
Lol, you almost make me wanna start a discussion about Fate/ Stay Night again, lol XD
Btw, your sig is adorable XD
I stopped to read the manga too. I only read now OP, Billy Bat, HxH and Black lagoon. The last three are on hiatus
HxH constant hiatus are annoying. I wanna give the manga a try, but I don't wanna be stuck in the middle of the manga, not knowing when that author starts picking the manga up again.
Now, thanks to this terrible ending, I can see that almost all shonen manga will have the. same destiny: they will be victim of their own popularity and fanservice...but right now, I think I'll continue reading OP, SnK,tokyo ghoul and hxh rewatchingFMA:b
and then read more seinens like monster and berserk, and shojos or maybe try josei
plus thanks to naruto, I started watching LoK whichis absolutely amazing !
but I'm never gonna trust other mangakas anymore...it's sad but true.
When did you start TG?
Shounens can be disappointing sometimes although it is the one genre one shouldn't expect some quality writing from- Naruto taught me that. Some shounens such as HxH and FMA are exceptions of course. I've started a new Shounen manga named Boku no Hero Academia that looks very promising; we'll see how it will perform in the future.
I love TLOK.
As for me, what Kishi the moron did, didn't shatter me that much in my trust I have in other mangakas. The only thing that he made me doubt a lot now is when it comes to romance. Making some asspulled couples becoming cannon will always be something I'm afraid of when I pick up a new manga, even when a love triangle is not involved.
I still follow Fairy Tail, but the anime is on a filler arc and the manga isn't doing it for me at the moment.
Then there's AOT, but the manga hasn't really been all that interesting for quite some time and season 2 won't be out until 2016.
No, Naruto was the only series I really cared about and it let me down. I think it's going to be some time before I'll be able to genuinely enjoy a series again.
Haven't picked up Fairy Tail yet, and have yet to find a convincing reason to do so. I'm not oblivious of what is going on in FT right now: I've got a brother who was totally excited for the series first but got disappointed along the way, have a tumblr dashboard that is literally exploding from time to time when something major happens, and then some members in here love to talk about the newest chapter.
AoT was slowpaced for the last couple of months, but the last two chapters were really good in my opinion. The wait for the new anime is killing me.
The ending to Naruto didn't change anything on how I see anime and manga...Ursula
Ya remember me, the german-asian mermaid
It changed my perspective in some aspects, but like I said, it did not discourage me from giving other series a try. Good thing, you got into Tokyo Ghoul ^_^
