I'm starting to see a strange tendency in Naruto fanfics where the author never really writes Naruto's character. He's either ALOT dumber than the canon character and only learns how to get stronger by chance, or he's God's gift to women... in some fics, this is actually the case. I mean, Kami made Naruto her (Kami is always female in harem fics, even if she doesn't get with him) vassal or something and he must kill all the truely evil people (Itachi and Orochimaru) for her. Why can't they just go with the bright and happy lad from the manga? Does it make them feel better if they write Naruto dumber? I don't get it.

And there's one more thing; Originality. All the real good plottwists used in fics now is copied from somewhere. The ones who actually thinks outside the box writes great fics (Pudgypudge is one of my favs these days), but if you have to banish Naruto you should be able to find another reason than "Naruto brings back Sasuke with a broken pinky. Sakura and the council throws a hissyfit resulting in Naruto's banishment" or "Naruto used Kyuubi's chakra, which has to mean that he's evil. I R council!! I R so smart!"
The council is always abused. I might have done something like that myself, but I can and will change that.

I'd expect some repeats, it's the recycling of poorly conceived twists or where it's evident what the original source was that bothers me. For example, in the NaruHanabi section, JohnnyG's generally format and characterization is constantly reused and it's painfully evident that this is the case.

JohnnyG took their aspects as 12 years old, made them lusty, and just used that for his story, which was kind of sad for an author like him.

Though granted, he wasn't the first one to do it like that, but his story is/was very popular and it promoted that very strongly.

I know there has been times when the plot bunnies had been running around in my head, then i happen to read a story almost like the one i have been thinking.

But yea the one thing that has been getting my goat is pairing mix ups, I notice alot of fics that are not Naru/Saku but because they are the 2 main characters in the story, it is in the NaruSaku filter.

No, it doesn't. You'll have to tell me the manga chapter if you want refreshing my memory. If it's an anime scene, don't bother.

And such like you describe the scene, she smacked Naruto for picking on Sasuke, not for impressing Sasuke.

It's like if you cite the scene where Kakashi had trapped Sasuke after the bell test and you tell me she yelled at Kakashi stopping stomping on Sasuke's head because she wanted impressing Sasuke, not because she wanted Kakashi stopped stomping Sasuke's head.

My point stands.

What? Melisa, Sakura NEVER beat Naruto for impressing Sasuke. Never. She beat him after the timeskip for the same reasons she beat him before the timeskip. The SIX times she has hit him on the manga (and the last time happened nearly one hundred chapters ago) she has done it because he was being stupid or pervert. And she never went out of her way for pummeling him, insulting him or abusing him, not matter what many fanfiction authors would get us believing.

The anime also tends to overdo Sakura's temper (in part 2 as well as part 1) which, while they usually do include her soft tenderhearted moments, with the overemphasis on the temper it tends to diminish the kinder side of her character too much. (Frankly, the way Kishimoto writes her in the manga, Sakura is the most tenderhearted of all the characters- but that doesn't make her weak, she's both strong and tenderhearted. That's in evidence even in part 1, although the strong part was a bit shaky at first- by the Chunin exams she's already well on her way toward the young woman she becomes in part 2 of the manga) We see her tenderhearted side quite early on too. She is the first to be kind to Inari, for example. Even in the first bell test, you see flashes of her empathy for Naruto when she feels Kakashi is being unfairly harsh. Far too many fanfic writers forget this, but again, it plays a stronger role in the manga than in the anime. The manga is canon, the anime an adaption. I think too many fanfic writers tend to treat anime as canon and the manga as an adaption

Yaoi: Scares me and it's stupid girl fantasy ( yes I'm a tomboy) Also Naruto or the guys are not gay.

Harem: Naruto is not a pimp! I hate those fic so much.

Ongoing Fic that should be finsh: Some times it no point to contune without a plot.

High School Stories: Good God I hate those! Unless Naruto or the other charactors or ninjas or something close to they ninja-self in Highschool.They no point for me to read it.

Sakura Being A Horrible Person: She dosen't hate Naruto that much.She'll never,ever hit him to depression.Which by the way I also hate those fictions.

Making Itahci Nice: WHAT THE HELL!

Sasuke Being A Big Jerk: I can't stand to read it sometimes.It just gets me mad.

Short Chapter: It annoys me!

I don't think its kosher to call out specifc fanfics in here, but I'm not a mod so who knows.

Regarding the Hokage, I don't think the Hokage is a dictatorship so I can understand people who don't give the Hokage all power.

I'm confused at people who hate Yaoi because of stupid things like "Oh so and so isn't gay!"

I don't think people care. I happen to think that Shikamaru, misogyny aside, is the straightest guy in the series. Yet read this awesome Sasuke x Shikamaru fic the other day. I don't think Naruto is gay (he could be bi imo) but doesn't stop me from reading malexmale pairings with him in it.

I happen to like "Naruto the 10th jinchuuriki" I got upset in the ending but it was good,kinda.

Ugh, I'm with you on the threesomes, especially when it's NaruSaku-Insert person here.

I mean, Ino and Sakura were fighting over Sasuke, not plotting how to share him. I don't think it's in any of their nature to share, and it feels too much like a guy's fantasy of owning two girl's hearts, which has it's benefits come nighttime.

I think I would accept it if there was some major consequences involved. Like, if Sakura were to find out about the other girl, she would fall back and seriously reconsider her being with Naruto, and possibly start thinking about Sasuke and who it is she really loves. I somehow see Ino more of the one being able to open up to the idea, but she too would be stubborn about it in the beginning, and full of some doubt since Sakura and Naruto are teammates and have had more time to connect. Naruto would have the emotional problems of trying to sort out his own feelings, and the heartache of losing Sakura in the confusion.

Hmm... I guess I like the idea of a love triangle gone wrong more, and one of them would make the decision to leave the relationship. =P

I have a thing about pairings, I've noticed. Because of how much characterization, plot, emotion has to go in them, if it's not believable or in my mind logical (or, I just have a bias against it), it would be hard for me to read. I also don't like it when everyone gets paired off in a fanfic. Ninjas have more to think about than who they're going to be with. Most of them I can't picture being with anybody canon, and they'd be better off helping the plot in different ways.

If it start out as a NaruSakuIno I don't care because I could easliy avoid or try to read it,but if the author change his/or her mind in a middle of a story then that's when I'm annoyed.

Okay with all the talk of threesomes I have a post. This is the Lemon Fanfiction Hates:

Stock lemons. I've swear I've read the same exact scene in too many fics these days. I sometimes think that the person has never had sex, but wants to include sex so they just take their favorite bits from another fic. It's stale. Don't torture yourself, or readers with bad lemons. A little sensuality can go a long way, and sometimes be better than the most detailed lemon.

Oh and long ones too. I mean there this one fic I read where the scene literally went on for 3 chapters, and these were not ordinary chapters, but 10-20 page long ones. It was tedious to read (I think I had to stop reading it, it was ridiculous). That person needs to pick the best parts and ditch the rest. Too much.

Oh and if your story has been going on for around 20 chapters without sex, and your 21 is the most raunchiest, graphic thing ever straight off the cuff, I'd like a warning. Preferably some sort of hint or transition in the last chapter that it was going to go there.

My favorite threesome is NaruSakuSasu. The Team 7 dynamic works for me, and it helps that I'm a fan of both NaruSaku and SasuNaru. I tend to think the SasuSaku falls flat compared to the others in a lot of fics, but then again I'm not really the biggest SasuSaku fan.

NaruSakuIno bothers me because it's never really a threesome to me. It's just Naruto having sex/a relationship with two girls in the same place around the same time. And it annoys me because I really like SakuIno and more people should write it! But I'm not a fan of "omg Naruto-sama watch us kiss and touch each other for your enjoyment"! Well okay, sometimes that can be written well but there has to be more to it than that, in my opinion anyways. In a nutshell I don't really like the dynamics as much as I do NaruSakuSasu.

Oh and yaoi writers: While I gotta a soft spot for Uke!Naruto...please, the man is a MAN. Lets keep it that way.

This is mostly about Zabuza/Haku (should they live or not?) because the author justifies keeping Zabuza alive with the idea of a kickass kenjutsu teacher. It's sad really, but that's how things goes. I have no problem with keeping Zabuza and/or Haku alive, but please... can't the author make that decission by himseyf/herself? Also, I read three chapters of a story before I saw the poll "Should Sakura die or should she leave Konoha and join Akatsuki?"... Needless to say, I stopped reading right there. Someone tell me why Sakura would ever join Akatsuki (or smex all of the old geezers and Itachi)!! Do tell!

Only reason I ever saw that Sakura should join Akatski was cause she was feeling left behind. But honestly that don't really work unless one explains why she didn't go to Tsunade in the first place.

and for the three's company type fics(pairing plus one) I've yet to read one that develops the characters(forgive me wilson! i haven't read your one story yet!). Only half decent ones I have read are the triangle fics that surprisingly rare(Naruto loves Sakura, Sakura likes Naruto, Some other chick likes Naruto and presents compention for Sakura). Probably cause they often get flamed hard core
