It's still the same even before the ending. People tried to piss off sakura fan.

I still think where Kishi failed is trying to write dual stories for two main characters and forcing them to entwine. The hero's tale for Naruto and the redemption tale for Sasuke. He just wasn't good enough to try that.

Hxh(&berserk) goes hiatus is the reason why his story suck.

Well, he can use musashi story for inspiration.
I think it just all over the place and there's not enough on the hero itself.

When you write a more complex story for the rival just because you want him redeemed no matter what, you take away all the focus from the hero. Or any other characters you wanted to know more about.

 

I think once he got a new editor, he has no need to think of a grand plan.

After Yahagi left his only plan seemed to be Naruto/Sasuke are the final fight and Sasuke gets redeemed.

You know, I was going to bring this up, but not many here don't know since some haven't read. That said yes, this is my main fear out of all series I'm reading right now. Come on man, he don't have a design to worth yaoi frenzy on. If this is the advice he got from Kishi, NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

OK I think we are been a bit too harsh of kishi. Scale it back a bit.

 

I think kishi always or at least by the time yahagi left knew that their was going to be a final battle between Sasuke and Naruto, and the last chapter would be Naruto lecturing his kid after he painted over the monument. The problem was getting there. Which is where the new editors and assistants came in. They wanted Hinata to become the true heroine of Naruto and for Sakura to disappear from the manga the second Hinata had her confession. They were probably the ones to suggest that scene to him in the first place, so they enact any idea to make their dream happen. Now kishi not the best writer or the smartest man but he wasn't interested enough in hinata for her to take Sakura's place in the story as the heroine and the love interest, and probably knew it was a bad idea. One it's bad to switch out character roles halfway through a story. Two he was increasingly basing Sakura off his wife. Which she clearly knew and liked and replacing her character with someone else in those roles would piss her off. So that's when he got into those arguments with his editors and asked for support from other mangaka. Basically from the pein arc to the ending/about chapter 440 to chapter 700/2008 to 2014 was basically kishi resisting their demands until he finally submitted by the end. The fact they care more about a side character then the actually plot of the story (you know what their job is really about) means they weren't going to be as helpful as yahagi when kishi hit a runt. Which led to Sasuke very confusing arc among other broken plot lines.

 

Neon. there are more people leaving the Naruto fanbase because they realize the ending is crap, and it destroyed any reason to continue to be a fan of Naruto. Then are going over to nH.

Anyway, I agree. Naruto's obsession with Sasuke is the low point of the series, let alone the series itself. Perhaps if he was the enemy, more so than need of help, it would be understandable. I never understand why obsessing for a guy who is not brainwashed and knows what he doing formula. It can be done right but lately it hasn't.

In an interview, miura said that berserk is more like a shoujo and the interviewer think that kind of true the manga show greater range of emotion which usually happen in shoujo manga.

I don't think it's harsh when we said is bad(&/ untalent) writer.
The reason why I use miura as comparison because he himself doesn't know how to write woman. But then how could he write a good female character like casca? While kishi struggling with sakura & and the rest of his female cast.

Hmm, tough one.

One one hand if he had avoided romance then we wouldnt be in this mess. On the other hand the problem wasnt the romance, but Kishi's refusal to stick to his guns. We had a clear romantic end for the lead but it was botched in the end.

So I guess I'd disagree to the statement.

People who said shonen shouldn't have romance as wrong as the people who said that shoujo shouldn't have action.

It's not romance that's the problem, it's the story telling that will become the pivotal point quality of a story.

If shaman king, samurai x, and inuyasha could do that, why can't naruto?

With or without actual romance, you'll still get a fanbase that ships... One Piece has quite a few ships despite Oda saying he'll never write love in his manga (true love that is)

 

I gotta disagree again, if only because it wasn't polarizing, but it just gives more life to a character regardless of how good or bad a writer is at it. You could understand Naruto's actions on why he did what he did for Sakura better because of his feelings for her. I regret saying it, but you also get that from...ugh... Hinata too. Oddly enough Sakura never really defended Sasuke for her own sake bar the Chunin Exam, but it wasn't strictly for him either. Funny how anything involving Sasuke for Sakura always found a way for Naruto to be involved. 

 

So yeah, I stand by my disagree because Naruto felt like a complete character with his likes, dislikes, flaws, and quirks.

hmmmm....

I want to say agree because "Kishimoto can't right romance," but that doesn't feel right either. We can see that putting in effort can make a romance be be amazing (Asuma and Kurenai, Minato and Kushina, Tsunade and Jiraiya arguably, and a few more. Hell, even Obito and Rin are better than any of the big two. )

I want to disagree because correctly written romance can enhance the human characteristics of a story, but do it poorly and it can also destroy it all as shown by Naruto now.
