Yup...I think while it's kind of obvious from Hinata's pov it was somewhat romantic, even so it wasn't that overt. Like she wasn't blushing or thinking OMGNARUTOSHOLDINGMYHAND. That would have been inappropriate to the tone considering Neji just died.

However, from Naruto's POV, the hand holding wasn't gratuitious but had a very practical function. Without the chakra transfer, holding someone's hand like that is pretty romantic. So Kishi kind of cheapened the romantic factor for sure when he made it clear Naruto was doing chakra transfer, and because he did it with Team 10, the Akimichis and Naras.

But she did say "Naruto-kun's hand is so big!" I don't know, I think the "thought" is really coming from Hinata not wanting to let go of Naruto's hand -- but Naruto doesn't seem to notice or share the sentiment.

I don't think the "thought" is an off-panel editor's commentary, it is an actual thought coming from the perspective of a character.

That color spread was beautiful! I very much love it. Sakura looked great in her flowered kimono. wub.gif I give Kishi stats for the details in it, it must've taken forever. Though I struggled for several minutes to figure out if I was looking at Sasuke or Obito. XD I'm guessing Sasuke, since a Team 7 grouping makes a lot more sense.

I thought it was Obito at first as well, then I remembered that Obito has scars.

It was an editors note, it's not a thought from either character

I'm really glad that alot of people is recovered again with this week's chapter, and it's really worth to wait biggrin.gif I read some spoilers before that 616 maybe about the fight between Naruto, Hyuugas, and Juubi, which I thought might be true. But bah, MK shows us that the one who take the big part isn't only the Hyuugas, but also the other shinobis (Gosh, it's Shika-Ino-Chou this time!! <3). And like some of you did, I did turn the page quickly to find the part where Naruto gives his chakra to Sakura LOL Too bad there's no Sakura this week, but I do hope something big will happen next time.

I really love the coverspread. It's really stunning! The color, the drawings, and everything, it's just too beautiful (and my Sakura looks super badass there!!)!
I think about that cover's meaning, just like what some of you said, the color refers to the toad, snake, and slug. And since some of you are wondering about the naginata and Sakura's suit, I searched it and found that :

During the Edo Period, as the naginata became less useful for men on the battlefield, it became a symbol of the social status of women of the samurai class. A functional naginata was often a traditional part of a samurai daughter's dowry. Although they did not typically fight as normal soldiers, women of the samurai class were expected to be capable of defending their homes while their husbands were away at war. The naginata was considered one of the weapons most suitable for women, since it allows a woman to keep opponents at a distance, where any advantages in height, weight, and upper body strength would be lessened. An excellent example of the role of women in Japanese society and martial culture is Itagaki, who, famous for her naginata skills, led the garrison of 3,000 warriors stationed at Toeizakayama castle. Ten thousand Hōjō clan warriors were dispatched to take the castle, and Itagaki led her troops out of the castle, killing a significant number of the attackers before being overpowered. The naginata saw its final uses in combat in 1868, at Aizu, and in 1876, in Satsuma.

Maybe that means that Sakura will be like Naruto's "assistant" during the war, or back him up with her skills (especially since MK said that Sakura will get her time) *shrugs* I'd like to see that though. It'd be awesome to see them work together as a team after a long time biggrin.gif

It really is an editors note, there is one at the last page of every chapter, It's supposed to represent something, and IMO it represents naruto holding nejis hand, hence the 4 panels of his hand clenching, those panels would not be needed if it was truly bout hinata holding narutos hand, the fact that the very next chapter they let go makes me believe what I say even more, well just have to agree to disagree because I don't see it any other way.

I think I'm insane. I left a comment on Sawyer7mage's Youtube video as a message to the NH fans: "To all of those NH fans who bashed NS for still believing in their pairing and screamed NaruHina canon, it looks like you were trolled. See what happens when you jump to conclusions?" wink.gif

I'm so petty sometimes xD but I can't help it. Waiting for 6 or more NaruHina fans to ambush me for leaving that comment and going out of their way to prove me wrong. Should I respond? tongue.gif

Hey guys, do you think those painels are connected in some way?

both talked about a "great person" and a "positive love" .. two things that Sasuke definitely isn't.

what do you have interpreted of these two panels? what it could mean?

I can interpret tension and sadness created from the person whom they are thinking about. It could be the beginning of Kishi attempting to resolve the emotional conflicts Ino and Sakura share about their feelings for Sasuke. I cannot see Ino ending up with Sasuke. That was a good find actually. This could just be me but the comparison might have been intentional on Kishi's part for an as of yet unexplained occurrence he hopes to bring about eventually. Presumably it would involve the resolution of the girls' feelings for the guy.

It's funny. Right when I saw Ino reflecting on her feelings for Sasuke, 540 instantly came to my mind. I do believe they are connected or at the very least, have the same meaning behind them. Both Ino and Sakura were stuck in the same rut. They had hopeless one-sided crushes on the popular kid that nearly drove them apart forever. However, the difference is Ino's feelings for Sasuke aren't very sincere and she had a distinct lack of angst over it; she barely interacted with him. Unlike Sakura. Her feelings are more genuine so they have caused her a lot of pain, self-loathing, and unhappiness. Sasuke had even almost killed her twice. Ino never faced such a tramatic event.

I think 540 and 616 are setting the groundwork for both of the former Sasuke fangirls to fully move on. Ino and Sakura are definitely capable of it by this point, but for different reasons. Ino because, quite obviously, she never knew him truly and does not love Sasuke. Sakura fell in love with Sasuke somehow, but she's seen the full extend of his darkness and how ashamed she is to love a criminal. That could motivate her to move on but it's not her only factor. She has the growing relationship and feelings for Naruto on her side, IMO causing her romantic feelings for the Uchiha to fade little by little. Not sure who Ino will end up with though (KibaIno anyone? tongue.gif).

To sum it up, 540/616= Future character development, emotional and romantic.

You know I never noticed before how blurry Sasuke is in Sakura's panel, almost like he's fading. And to my knowledge its the first time she remembers him as he is now not who he was. Also it's not all of him that is blurred out, it's only half, it's his face, his eyes filled with rage and hate now.

Contrast that with Ino who's image is much sharper, much more in focus but it's young Sasuke. Almost like it's saying Ino's feelings are still there, still as strong as they have ever been but she is in love with a memory. Sakura's feelings are also still there but have been deflated as she has come to accept who he is now and as a result her love for him is fading but she's trying to hold on to it regardless of how much it hurts. At least that's how I read it.

That is a good point, but the text on the side of panel's aren't always written by the editor, especially if they take the first-person perspective of a character (in contrast to Sakura's confession). Naruto didn't hold Neji's hand, he said he wanted to hold Neji in his heart -- notice he was pounding his chest?

@Chucky-kun - Both colours are attributed to death? Well, that sounds indecisive. Most cultures pick one or the other and that frees up the other one! laugh.gif
Regardless though, I've watched a fair few anime series where an antagonist has a purple aura, but it's also used in slapstick violence where a character begins glowing to establish an intent to cause harm or death. The user is typically an angry female and the victim a close male associate (sound familar). The aura can be a few colours in this scenario, but I have seen purple before.

Anyway, my point was Purple=Bad. happy.gif

Actually, black does not usually have the association with death in traditional Chinese culture, but white is. White is also associated with sadness in Japanese culture, which is why a Japanese bride wears white -- she is supposed to be "mourning" that she is leaving her family.

That was actually Orochimaru thinking about how Sasuke is irritated at Naruto's tremendous chakra levels (which are over 9000 by the way tongue.gif ). Check out Mangastream's translation, funny enough they're the ones that got it right this time.

Whatever the case of whoever wrote that note it really looks to me that it's about not letting go of Neji's hand in a symbolic way, as in never letting go of his connection to him. It goes in hand with how the previous title is called "Connected". Although I'm big enough to admit that they could've done a better job to show that it was referencing Neji.

I find it cool to have two translations. That way we can compare and interpret so that in the end we get a complete idea of the true dialog done in the chapter.

Still can't believe 3 color pages and not one mention of NH. That's pretty outstanding achievement for us that really believes NH will get a lot of attention. I don't know but I get the feeling Kishi really don't give a hoot. I mean yeah, he can provide fanservice, but I don't think he's all that serious at all with it. This moment was yet again another chance to show NH is a real deal, but as of now, it's only seen as "Well, it's cute even though it may not be canon." It's no crack, by all means, but it's like if the manga provides two love interests and one is chosen, the one left behind will be remembered in fan fiction and how cute it was. Before this chapter, they received a lot of points, but it's like they got called in, only to find a false play, so now the points has been deducted. Once again, all those hints (parallels, Kurama's comment, etc.) are all up for grabs and anyone of them can determine in some way of the final pairing. Well Sakura, what are you waiting for?

Actually, if I am allowed to put my two cents in here, what it meant was, like Team Gai, Kakashi and Naruto said, as long as they remember Neji’s feelings, he will continue living inside them, that they won’t forget them. That equals with never letting go of his hand. It was actually shown in the previous chapter how Naruto takes someone else’s hand, like holding Neji’s invisible hand and, like I said, never letting go of it, keeping him alive through his memory.

Same meaning, different words.

I'm surprised no one commented that Kiba got the power-up from Naruto as well.

Think about it, what would possibly happen if a Kyuubi-infused Kiba transforms into his Giant Wolf form?? just think, we might even get a wolf-hybrid Kyuubi to the point where his chakra becomes comparable to the Bijuus.
