[Super Boom]

This might warrant its own thread, but I thought I'd throw it here, since it's essentially part of the same debate. Although considering how long it takes me to figure out what I'm going to type, I'll probably interrupting a new topic by the time I post this. If that's the case, don't force yourself to respond to this, since it's probably not all that interesting anyway.

Basically, I was randomly re-reading some old chapters, and remembered how I once heard a NaruHina fan try to draw a parallel to Hinata and Kushina telling Naruto "I love you". I rolled my eyes at first, but I found it sort of interesting how Kishi drew Naruto's reaction to the three times Naruto heard that statement in his life (including Sakura's).

I know I didn't need to put all three links for Sakura's confession, since they're all consecutive pages, but I think it looks more organized this way.

Anyways, I'm trying to take off the "shipping glasses" and look at this unbias, but it really feels to me, if any two of Naruto's reactions were to be compared properly, it'd be his reactions to Kushina and Sakura. In both of those pages, he has the initial surprise, and then the blush. His reaction to Hinata's confession sort of struck me as "HOLY ****! We've had two/three conversations and you're in love with me!??" He had that surprised look for all three, but his look after hearing Hinata's looked more exasperated. Though I guess, in all fairness, his situation at the time was probably a little more stressful than the other two.

In any case, I was curious if anyone thinks the reactions between any two or all of them were similar, or if Kishi was intentionally trying to draw a parallel in the scenes. Or if I'm just reading way too much into the panels, and this attempt to liven up the Debate Thread has failed miserably.

I would say he is definitely horrified by Hinata's 'I love you', though I think that has less to do with the words and more to do with the fact that Hinata is putting herself in harms way and Naruto fears for her life. I don't feel like he was reacting to Hinata's words in that case, so it's pretty hard to compare the 'I love you' by Hinata for that reason. From his mother and from Sakura he was definitely reacting to the words as nothing else was going on at the time.

I remember too that NH fans were claiming Hinata would become so important to him, seeing as she was the first person to say those words to him. That turned out not to be the case as Naruto, like I said, didn't have any reactions to her words but only to her being in danger at the time. Maybe next time, NH

I can see the similarities in reaction but I don't think there's any relation other than the blush. I think it just means he desired those 3 words to be spoken by the person which is Sakura and Kushina. If someone you like says that to you, you will most likely blush. Hearing that from his mother that he has not met in his life and the girl that he likes alot makes him happy. Hearing it from a random girl in your life though makes no effect. To top it off she is in a near death situation so her confessions not as important as her life so I'm sure when she said it, Naruto was like "Who gives a f***!!!! Get the hell out of there!!" So there, sorry NH.

That's true, Hinata's life was at risk when she said "I love you", so it can't really be compared to other two times he heard it. Although I wonder if he would've reacted the same if Hinata hadn't confessed to him. Or how he would've reacted if it was Sakura instead of Hinata in that scenario.

The fact that Hinata's confession still hasn't been addressed seems to be proof that Naruto doesn't reciprocate her feelings, but there's always the chance that Kishi will show them talking about it a flashback. I generally don't like it when shipping stuff is resolved off-panel, and only brought up much later in the plot, but I suppose since romance isn't the biggest part of the manga, it's not too unlikely. Though, considering how Naruto's only been shown thinking of Hinata with the rest of Konoha 11 since her confession, I kind of get the impression that Kishi really isn't planning too much with the NaruHina pairing.

This is what Chie Nakamura had to say when asked about Naruto and Sakura's growing relationship and her answer is not very surprising at all

"well,it's nice to see that finally sakura and naruto get along after sakura not having the heart on him at the begin of Naruto series when they were teenagers,but still sakura loves sasuke then after all he does to her,anyway sakura still love sasuke more than naruto with her feelings for sasuke been irreplaceable in all this time so she never wanted to change it especially,even there are some scenes which can induce feelings in the wrong part because sakura feelings for naruto are more of friendship than a relationship as for sasuke who she wanted to have/still relationship".

^^ Oh for f sake's and where did she get the idea that Sakura probably still want to have a relationship with that one guy, and it has to be past the beginning of Shippuden, after everything that has been developing in part 2.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The quote uses some pretty broken English, so there's a good chance it's just a mistranslation by our old friends at the NH/SS camp(s).
And even if she did make that exact comment, it's just her opinion. Seiyuus are people too, so it's not like it's uncommon for them to have a preferred ship in the anime they work on. On top of that, SasuSaku's the most popular het pairing in Japan, at least I think. I guess the only thing I'd be worried about is if some of the seiyuus talk to Kishimoto about some plot elements, but I don't think that's the case right here. I mean, I would assume she'd be fired for breaching contract or something if she went blabbing to her Facebook fans about unresolved shipping issues. But I guess I don't really how that works.

she doesn't seem to like SS at all based on her comments about it. it annoys her. so doesn't prefer it.

Well Chie Nakamura is just a VA she's not Kishimoto like the rest of us she doesn't know how the series will end or who will Naruto end up with but it's pretty obvious who is the girl that he loves the most.

Oh god please no. I trust Kishi to be a good enough storyteller. If he is to go for the undying love thing Sasuke must have feelings for Sakura before he turn rogue for it to work. That's the only thing I don't understand about SS. He doesn't show any romantic feelings for Sakura at all. Why do people ship them? He didn't even hug her back at the hospital! Oh wait...Naruto also didn't hug her back after Pain's invasion. Oh well at least he DOES have feelings for her.

Well, as for the facebook comments, it just a speculation right, so it does not mean anything in terms of canon, which is good because it means we still got the leverage and advantage over the opposition shippings. Well, at least, it something to talk about/speculate.

For starters it looks like she says Naruto takes place while they are teenagers which isnt true Shippuden takes place while they are r teenagers...at least thats how i look at it.

If sakura doesn have undying love for sasuke then i would lose all respect for her and kishi and i dont know how u could love someone that tries to kill u twice but i guess that applies more to the real world.

Which gets me thinking what if that tender moment comes between Naruto and Sakura at the end and she rejects him (much like how that B*tch Sora rejected my boy Tai) I would be soooooo pissed. And imagine if she goes on to live alone and the epilogue shows Sakura visiting his grave and crying then Naruto shows up and is still friends with her I would be even more pissed and I would not like Naruto (the character) for being nice to Sakura but i guess that what makes Naruto, Naruto.

But none of that is gonna happen Narusaku FTW and if in the epilogue all i get is this then Im happy.

Seiyuu don't have contact with the manga writers except at things like Jump Festa.
