Fairly certain the most recent popularity poll was taken in 2011 at the beginning of the war. The likelihood of an organisation not accumulating polling data from recent events to ascertain who the general favourite is at the end of the manga seems unlikely as well.

The beginning of the war IS after the Pein Arc.

Edit: I forgot there was a five Kage Summit Arc after the Pein Arc so you might be right.

Also, I absolutely disagree to your opinion of Sakura being "equally" as worse Naruto in THE LAST, because Naruto was a man who didn't try to help Hinata in danger because she dumped him and Sakura would NEVER abandon a friend whose life is in danger just because he/she doesn't like her back. Saying that her having shallow feelings are just as worse as Naruto abandoning his friend in danger, having equally shallow feelings and being a hypocrite only looks to me like you are justifying Naruto and his actions in the movie.

Sorry, but we have to agree to disagree here because I cringe when I read this kind of statement. Feel free to express it when not quoting me though.

Also, sorry, but I think you might have misunderstood me. I didn't mean to imply that Sakura being equally as bad as Naruto was portrayed in The Last, I meant the end in general. Both of their characters were killed in two different settings; what killed Sakura was the ending of the manga, and what killed Naruto was the movie. The Naruto that appeared in the movie is a piece of trash, and the Sakura we saw at the end of the manga was was a piece of trash as well. In the end, to justify Hinata, Kishi turned them both into shallow hypocrites that ended up abandoning people close to them (Sakura abandoned Naruto in the manga's end, and Naruto did whatever the kitten he did in the movie). 

 

To me, the end of series Sakura is just as bad as the end of series Naruto, if that makes any sense. I didn't mean to make it seem like I was defending Naruto at the expense of Sakura, sorry about that...

 

Both of them post 698 are equally dead to me, just like the rest of this series.

There's an interval of two arcs before the war technically begins. Invasion of Pain arc ended somewhere in the 440s, I believe. The 4th shinobi world war arc takes place after the confining jinchuuriki arc in the 510s. That's a discrepancy of 70 something chapters. Almost two years worth of content between then and the other.

 

I'm not going anywhere near Databooks, guides, wikias, or anything to do with this manga beyond H&E and YJ's review listings.

 Then go check the databook scanlations yourself. The last official poll was done right after the Pein Arc and the rankings of the databook reflect the total votes until that arc. And like I said, my memory might be wrong.

I think what you mean is accumulation of poll in data book.
The last character popularity poll happen after pain arc.
That was the poll that place at number 11 or 10 along with sai.
While Hinata place in top ten.

20. Redemption for sins - False - either dying in fight (Madara, Obito, Itachi) or walks away without any punishment (Sasuke, Orochimaru, Kabuto).

21. Exit from curse of cirlcle of hatred - False - next (lame) generation too have neglected childrens, pranksters because of lack of parents аttention, and some unknown enemies.

Kishi looks like crap after the Jump Festa which tells me that he might be regretting his decision to the end the manga. But his reputation as a writer can never be repair even though for so miracle he changes the ending to NS sometime in the future. I just wonder if it was scripted to mislead readers or from his own will?
