Speaking of sasusaku shippers, I always thought that Sasuke always buried Sakura in part 1 and never saw her as a contendah or someone that could make an impact, and it was always Naruto that she could always rely on to find her strength and courage to be where she is, which, in turn, helps Naruto further his strength and abilities (which are already great as it is). If sasusaku, (I know it would never happen at this point), actually with a less than one-hundredth of a percent (0.01%) happens, that would really kill Sakura's development. Thoughts or we could we switch to another subject?

I know one of our mods said a couple of years ago that of the people who identified their gender on their profiles, well over half were male. There's been a small influx of women since then, but I'm fairly certain that over half are still male. I'm a woman, by the way, and one of the older members (I'll be 45 in September)- although I know at least one other person on this forum is older than me...

Their next interaction will be most likely be in the next five chapters at the very most. I'm guessing he'll see all of the Konoha 11, so I'd expect a scene with Hinata that'll probably be blown insanely out of proportion. Fortunately, Sakura's alone with Shizune right now, so I'm guessing his conversation with her will seem more important than the rest. But we'll see, I'm not going to get my hopes up. I'm guessing the deciding moment will be right before he goes to fight Sasuke. He's half-expecting to die in the fight, so he might make a selfish (in his mind) decision and steal a kiss from Sakura or something. But we'll see.
I'd agree with that. In my mind, Sakura's relationship with Sasuke has been nothing but negative, while her relationship with Naruto has been the exact opposite. Sure her feelings for Sasuke became less selfish during the Chuunin Exams, and she demonstrated some resolve in protecting/saving Sasuke in the past, but my biggest beef with Sakura was during her confession to him. She was willing to betray Konoha for a crush. I know she was desperate, but that scene was where I held the lowest esteem of her. It also might explain why I used to ship NH, as I've mentioned once or twice here.
Fortunately, she had nowhere to go but up after that scene, at least in my opinion. At the POAL, she seems to realize how important Naruto was to her, and how he understands her more than anyone else. In the first two Part II arcs, we see her demonstrate amazing skill and resolve in protecting Naruto, and we see her empathize with him several times. She clearly changed over the timeskip, and I believe Naruto was a huge influence on her, despite the fact that he wasn't even physically there.
So to me, if SasuSaku happened, I wouldn't be able to help but see her as reverting back to that desperate girl willing to give up everything for her crush. It'd be a huge blow to any development given to her as a character. Meanwhile we have Naruto, who truly understands her. So much in fact, he's willing to give up his own happiness for what believes is her happiness. And, as we've seen several times, Sakura seems to draw strength from Naruto's own resolve.
So in summary, I see SasuSaku as a huge setback for her character development, while I see NaruSaku as a sort of goal that will finally develop Sakura into the main heroine Kishi is trying to create for this series.

It was a joke. I was just pointing out that it's sort of redundant to reveal your gender on the thread if people can easily just click on your profile. Or that it's sort of senseless to hide your gender on your profile if you're not shy about declaring it on the main debate thread here. I guess my sarcasm didn't come out the way I intended.

Sorry, I might not have said it on this thread. I just don't like to feel like I'm being redundant saying the same thing when I post here.
I think quite a few people here used to ship SS or NH. For me, it was just seeing the story from a simplistic "mean vain girl vs. nice girl who's always loved you" perspective. Plus, like I said, her confession just bugged me. And that comment, "I have family and friends, but if you were to leave, I'd feel truly alone" just felt like a slap in the face to Naruto, who I felt really wanted to get close to her throughout Part I.
But I guess I sort of felt like the series was moving in a different direction in Part II, both in terms of Sakura's overall personality and how she acted towards Naruto. And, of course, the NaruHina pairing went absolutely nowhere for me. So I guess I just jumped ship, and then reread/rewatched some old scenes, and realized any annoyance I had with Sakura in Part I pretty much stemmed from her being the "realistic girl" Kishi was trying to create. Plus, I feel NaruSaku just makes the most sense in terms of the overall story, which I personally care about more than shipping to begin with.
Personally though, I think if shipping fans, on all sides, would just take off their "shipping goggles", reread/rewatch old scenes, and read the character relationships for what they are, I think we'd have a lot less rabid fans and character bashing in the Naruto fandom.

It's not that she doesn't deserve it; it's that there's hardly any development for NaruHina as compared to NaruSaku.

1. Also, i felt the same way, but I've always wanted narusaku in the beginning, probably due to Naruto liking her in the first place, for the other pairings, part of me thought it might happen if certain things and development happens, the pairing have a better chance of happening, but it didn't, so at this point, its narusaku or nothing.
2. Yeah, well that's what kinda turns me off on the Sakura character at first, that bi*chiness fangirl aspect, which was kinda sad, because when I've first saw the commerical for the show 7 years ago, I thought she was cute and hot at first. Thankfully, Shippuden came and she become all of that plus all ass-kicking and tsundere aspect coming on full circle.
You know if certain things would have happen in a coherent canon matter, then maybe she should deserve to be with him, but that's not the point. So to accuratly answer your question, it's because she's too nice, she does not have that keep-in-line aspect, that Sakura possess, with Naruto, when he either A. screws up, or B. becomes pervey.

Then in 2008, when I started watching the original Japanese anime, I got too see her in an entirely new light. I began to see that there was a lot more to her except for being a Sasuke fangirl and being wallpaper paste. I saw her defend Naruto and Sasuke, cut off her hair and her fight with Ino. I began to see that underneath her prudish, uptight and mean exterior, she was a flawed, human and dare i say, even tragic character, what with her being bullied as a kid, her friendship/rivalry with Ino, wanting to be accepted by the "cool, popular guy", her confidence issues, etc.
When I later found out that there was actually a manga too (imagine THAT huh?!

Despite all that though, like I said earlier, I've never once hated her. Maybe it because instead of blaming her whenever she said/did something I didn't like, I blamed Kishimoto. Afterall, he's the one writing the story.

As for Hinata, I don't think that Hinata doesn't deserve Naruto. I hate it when people use that argument agains NS, that Sakura doesn't "deserve" Naruto because of the way she treats him now or used to treat him. The thing is, love isn't about who does or doesn't "deserves" who. Its about learning to accept eachother for who you are and forming a deep special understanding. Something that NS has in spades. Sakura knows that Naruto is kinda brash, a bit dense and a mega perv, but she still accepts him for who he is. Likewise, Naruto knows that Sakura is hot headed, violent (when need be

With NH, I just don't see that kind of chemistry. Hinata still doesn't really know who Naruto is and what he has gone through. Likewise Naruto doesn't really know a whole lot about who Hinata is, other than she is shy, has a dark past with her clan and that she is in love with him. But still NH just doesn't have the same level of...intimacy. Naruto and Sakura have been through a lot together. They've seen eachother at both their best and their worst and they've been there to pick eachoter up most of the time. Sure, they still have a lot of unresolved issues to deal with, but im fairly confident that those will be worked out before the end of the manga.
