Sakura did many things for Naruto which can be used to ignore the huge faults she made, but those things will make NS the best pairing only as FRIENDSHIP. I love their friendship status very much right now.

 

I loved NS very much since the beginning of naruto, even when sakura was a b*tch to Naruto. I loved it during most of the part 2 until the fake confession happened. After that confession also I had above 50% hope for it but then their was chapter 540 and finally chapter 693. If Sakura had chosen the words which can be easily termed as those used in platonic sense, I would still be in love with NS, but now I don't like, instead hate all the pairings in Naruto.

Love can blossom out of friendship. In fact, that kind of love is normally the strongest because the bond will be stronger and you will already have learnt the weaknesses and strengths of the other person from your days of friendship. Differences will be lesser and even if you do get differences, the strong bond will help to set aside the differences and easily reach a compromise.

 

About Naruto and Sakura, I won't deny that they are best friends first but here's the thing-- Naruto has always wanted more than friendship. That is clear from the many number of date requests, telling his dead father about how he sees Sakura and just the special attention to detail he always manages for Sakura-chan. There has been nothing from his side that might indicate a change. 

 

Sakura's feelings are not as straight-forward. In fact they actually confuse the reader. Like you said, many of her actions towards Naruto can be looked at as those of a good friend. That's where the first chapter of part 2 , the Tenchi Bridge scene, the LOI confession need to be considered 

 

The very first chapter of part 2, Sakura is shown to be physically attracted to Naruto- Something that never happened in part 1. She blushes at the grown up Naruto and with one finger on her cheek, nervously asks for his opinion on how she looks, on whether she is more of a woman now.

 

If that isn't flirting, I don't know what is !

 

That was the first and a big hint that Sakura may be open to something more than friendship with Naruto.

 

The Bridge scene where Sakura really shows how much she cared about Naruto. With no regard to her safety, she runs at four tailed Naruto. She casts aside the pain of the injury four-tailed Naruto gave her and she gives her all to heal Naruto. She gets tears because she feels she doesn't do enough for Naruto.

 

Even Yamato, a relative stranger at that point, could see how much Sakura cared about Naruto.

 

You say the LOI confession was fake. Perhaps she was not completely honest but I don't think you can say it was a complete lie. Its difficult enough to lie to your best friend but to lie that you have feelings for him..? Its impossible to even try such a thing unless you actually do feel that way on some level. Well... that's how I view friendships anyway.

 

 

These points do suggest that Sakura may like Naruto. And this is the important thing. Look at NH- Hinata pines for Naruto but not once has he given any sort of a romantic hint. SS is even worse, Sasuke has openly told Sakura that he isn't interested in her.

 

NS is the only pairing where both the characters have given hints, subtle sometimes but hints nonetheless , that suggest they like each other.

Sakura better not throw herself in Naruto's way...no, If she's coming she better use logic and punch Sasuke in the jaw. I don't care if she has no chakra, any punch will do the trick at this point.

You know looking back now I think next chapter will probably start with some trick by Naruto. I don't know what trick is going to save him from Chidori at close range but I'm sure Kishi will make something up.

Just look at the page. Both of Naruto's hands are out of the picture and he seems to have a vicious look in his eye.

The only way I see this happening in a way that makes sense is for Naruto to take a hit so he can make a counter attack. Ultimately it won't end well for him but it's better than going out without a fight. I'm imagining something along the line of Naruto getting impaled by Chidori while at the same brandishing a kunai and stabbing Sasuke. That is of course too violent for Shonen Jump however and will never happen.

She might not need to trow herself in front of Sasuke's Chidori  I seriously think that there is no way for her to reach on time to stop it unless she has FTG . 

 

But I do think that those words might come in play upon seeing what seems to be a dead Naruto and for Sakura to use Chiyo's Jutsu  but the Jutsu doesn't work bc Naruto is still alive but she doesn't realize that  but Naruto later wakes up and incomes OVA scene hun and tears , that's one way that it could happen  .

Agreed again to most of it.

I already wrote that I did love the pairing before I loved it very much, when I read the beginning of part 2, I was like did sakura already forgot sasuke and has started loving naruto.   But the thing she did at LOI can't be considered true because later in 540 she was depressed about loving Sasuke. If she had moved on to naruto she wouldn't have thought of sasuke but naruto who is indeed a great guy. Then their is the choice of words in 693. Nobody just says I love you to a close friend if the person she now has feelings for is right there. And don't tell me that she doesn't know that Naruto loves her. Sai pretty nicely told her and she even said that the idiot's in love with me.

If the incident has happened at a time when manga was still a 100 chapters to go I would still be loving NS, but now how will kishi repair the damage sakura's words did. Moreover after her confession sasuke rejected. If now she gets with Naruto proving that she really did love naruto romantically and her accepting naruto as a lover has nothing to do with sasuke's rejection, I will again be totally happy with NS. But their is hardly any time for that, given so many other things might also just end up being in shadow for eg yamato's whereabouts.

By that logic Sasuke's throat would melt every time he uses a fire style jutsu and using chidori would obliterate his arm.
