I read the chapter on my phone at 4:30 this morning, but since then I've been at work and couldn't comment until now.  Hurray for lunch hours!  Anyway, I have not read this thread so what I'm going to say is probably old news.  Sorry about that.

 

+ LOVED the rivalry between Naruto and Sasuke.  The staredown appraisal of each other's abilities.  I so, SO want Naruto to absolutely crush any and all of Sasuke's plans and delusions of godhood.  Save/redeem him if you must, Naruto, but CRUSH HIM FIRST!!!

 

+ Very pleased to see Kiba and Shino get a chance to prove they've grown too.  The bug thing creeps me out, but Shino is still a cool guy.  Out of all the skill sets, his is the one that freaks me out the most.

 

+ Am I the only one who worries about Akamaru?

 

+ Hinata.  After his admission that he considers Sakura his girlfriend, I don't see how Hinata could be be thinking of Naruto as an obtainable partner -- assuming she ever did.  What I saw in this chapter is Hinata realizing she needs to continue taking risks, being brave, and improving herself if she's going to keep up and stay "at Naruto's side."  It's a shame that her motivation continues to be focused on Naruto only, but Kishimoto has been very consistent about this in her characterization. 

 

If anything, this chapter highlighted the HUGE disparity between Hinata and Sakura.  Hinata takes small, unconfident steps trying to become and stay even with the object of her affection.  Meanwhile Sakura takes confident, giant leaps to become even with both her teammates -- with no hint whatsoever that any part of her motivation includes romance.  As I said in a recent post, "One acting like a powerful ninja, the other acting like a lovestruck girl.  Inconvenient for Sakura haters, perhaps, but that doesn't make it any less true."

 

So NH still dead?  Check.  Sakura still the strong heroine of the story?  Check.  Moving on.

 

+ Ino's disgust with Shino's moves made me laugh.  To be honest, Shiino is a secret crack pairing of mine, because Ino is such a superficial girl it would be so entertaining to see her have to get over herself with the "bug guy."  Seeing her reaction in this chapter just brought it all back to me.  But I digress.

 

+ The Human Bullet Yo-yo was terrific.  I love the Team 10 collaboration.  They really have it going on.

 

+ I was really glad to see my favorite yenta, Sai.  I was afraid he was dead he'd been out of the picture for so long!  Despite Kishimoto making Sai get PWNED in this chapter, it was useful.  His failure provided good intel on what to do next, plus it showed another aspect of Naruto's reach -- literally. 

 

And I think Sai is still going to be key to the story -- as Sasuke's stand-in with Team 7, and as the great NS counselor/facilitator.  Sai is one of Kishimoto's pet exposition characters, and he used him that way even in this chapter by relating the tactical issues and strategy through him.

 

+ "This size... is indeed quite a burden."  Hashirama, the king of understatement. 

 

+ I have to admit I felt a surge of adrenaline when I saw the panel of Team 7 biting their thumbs.  I couldn't wait to click the page and see the Neo Sannin.  Bloody hell.  How cool is that?  (I don't like Sasuke any better, but still... it's cool!)

 

+ Here's hoping Gamakichi will comment on Naruto's girlfriend again.

 

+ It appears that Sakura is not done proving the value and range of her abilities.

Actually this chapter. At first, I thought anime and video games probably made it up on the effect. I mean they pretty much say that it's a awakening mode style, so it's not really a jutsu, but an enhancement. That said this chapter confirms it. She managed to do 64 palms because she got to step forward which she did and that's what she got from 615. Always going forward. Plus, she didn't do anything to Pain because she got KO before it even connect.

 

Again we didn't actually see what the Lion fist can do, she used the 64 palms then opened her palms completely and her arms formed a lion chakra cloak, mabye we'll see the actual move in action next week.

 

If she's a lioness and he's a fox, doesn't that mean they are natural born enemies?

Come Kishi your Sai can do more he is a Anbu.

 

I don't know we could have possible  NS moment  in Sage mode if only Sasuke does not have one?

What were to happen if Naruto could somehow use sage mode and BM at the same time? I think this fight is going to cause something like that from naruto and considering what he can do in sage mode and biju mode, he could as well create a new Justu, possibly to beat the Jubbi. Also I think by the end of this year the fight between and naruto and sasuke is meant to happen at some point, and I think the closure for naruto and hinata is near since the more this goes on, the more evidence there is that hinata is actually in love with the idea of naruto and not the person. Thinking that will also come into effect sometime during the war or shortly after. From here on out, since all teams got their moment to shine, it should be either team 7, kakashi and obito, or the kages and Yamato in these chapters. Don't see the rest of them do much and personally it's somewhat boring to see anyone other than team 10 or rock lee.

His point are so contradictory, what was the point with all of naruto and sakura's interactions if they were not going to be reciprocated at one point? And him telling hinata to punch naruto like stfu the only moments I have seen hinata do something with naruto in the whole series was pain and this war. Like come on man at least have some analysis on both ends on your point and not just a biased analysis on one end. YouTube analysts ... Lmfao

Well Naruto and Sasuke have summoned new invocation. Well its not the same that the previous Sannin were using. So i guess it is the same with Sakura.

So it's the latter possibility. Well I suppose the lack of acknowledgement could be rationalized by the chaotic state of the battlefield and multitudes of soldiers/creatures fighting against one another making it difficult to distinguish a single figure amongst the carnage. That or perhaps his mind is too fixated on the inevitable battle with Hashirama to pay much concern for a small collection of "rag-tag" shinobi appearing after his long time rival had already arrived.

Well, it does seem like the next volume will be the end of Madara and Obito, so I guess Kishi is holding it off until Juubi is sealed.

Yeah, he does. I think it was good that he summoned the snake because it is more power than hawk, which is like more of aerial assault or anything not comparable to the snake. It is necessary for grounded offense/defense.

 

Somehow, I think the purpose of him getting hit was to show that Juubi is not going down easy as well as developed more stronger minis. I think that was the whole point.

 

Well, Sasuke doesn't know it since he wasn't aware of it until Kabuto shows it. Sakura has the chance because slug sage mode has not yet been revealed, so her doing it is the best timing.

Great post. I'm happy that you still it's dead. I don't know who here thinks it's alive, but it's not. Honestly, it goes to show you that 615 was really about encouragement, not really romance.

I sincerely doubt that Sakura would forcibly remove Katsuyu from the Kages' location as she is in the process of saving their lives. Even if she was erroneously summoned Katsuyu would probably explain the situation to Sakura in the next chapter and return to complete her restoration process. The previous foreshadowing and physical discrepancies that the other two summonings have with  Gamabunta/Manda strongly imply that this is a newly conjured slug who has not yet been seen within the manga.

Off topic but what do you guys think Orichimaru, Karin and Water boy are upto? I originally thought maybe they are just taking their time but they still don't appear to have arrived, so i'm thinking they are either going to where the Kages are, or to the Zetsu base where poor Yamato is still there with nobody there to save him....though he might have gone to one of his bases to retrieve an awesome arsepull weapon to use on the Juubi.

Yeah might Sasuke may jelly about Naruto's power and may seek for a power-up.
Naruto still has another power-up to awake, the other bijuu's chakras.

Oh great, thanks for clearing that you guys! I must have missed that image for before. Now I'm really interested in some background of Sasuke's snake and Sakura's slug. Hopefully we get some sort of flashback as evidence of their training.

The Inoshikacho combo was probably my favourite part of this chapter. Everything those three do together are always awesome, makes me squee like a fangirl. NEVER STOP BEING AWESOME!

 

On the side note, I honestly feel like I'm the only narusaku fan that's actually fine with Hinata using Naruto as an emotional crutch. Is that bad? Like I don't find it to be a negative trait for her to aspire to be brave like Naruto or be by his side (even if it is on a romantic scale), it's not like Naruto will change his mind and feelings just because she thinks about him 24/7 and have him as an inspiration in mind.

 

Maybe its because I can relate to Hinata on that scale, using someone's motivation and speech (or just person themselves) to improve myself. Pushing myself out of my shell when I am stuck and withdrawing because of a crumbling self-esteem. Even with people find Hinata's thoughts to be annoying because it's so Naruto-centric, I'm completely happy that she's able to move forward.

 

I think it's totally cool that Kishimoto is showing different ways for a person to grow and improve. Whether it is to catch up, to prove to oneself, out of love, aspiration, to be acknowledge, and etc - Kishimoto is representing the different kinds of growths that can be relatable to different types of people. That makes me so happy to see myself in a character's shoe's and feel that my way of growing is represented in a good light. But reading some comments about how Hinata's emotional thoughts as annoying and detracts her as an independent figure is kinda disheartening.

 

Maybe I'm being overly too sensitive over this matter...
