Perma banned for disagreeing in any kind of fashion with Konohakitten.

Anyways, yes, everyone knows that Zoro is the first mate, but she wasn't talking about that. Nami has her own authority on the ship that in ways is equal to Zoro's. When she gives directions, or suggestions, they're listened to immediately. Even Luffy and Zoro listen to her. It wasn't about first mate. In some situations, yes, Zoro is in charge. But the same applies for Nami. She may not be the first mate, but as Navigator, she's pretty damn close. Nobody but Zoro and Luffy supersede her authority on the ship.

Thanks AHK, you're right, I wasn't dismissing Zoro, who I feel is first mate/ co captain, even though ranks aren't really something the straw hats use. However Nami is way more proactive when it comes to making decisions for the crew. That attitude is why I believe she feels responsible for Sanji leaving. It all went down on her watch.

luffy hasn't officially named anyone co-captain. but if i had to guess, he would make nami co-captain. at least she wouldn't get lost every second.

It's gonna be zorro.
He's the second most important character and second strongest.

The only time Luffy doesn't listen to her is when he wants to go on a dangerous adventure, and then it's just hilarious XD She wears the pants on the crew most of the time lol

Actually I think Sanji and Robin are the pants wearers on the crew. Nami wouldn't dare cover that much of her legs up. (yes i know what wearing the pants means :hehehe:)

Yup, the second most important.
Getting the second most fight and the second strongest villain in each arc.

I just read the chapter, and honestly I'm really surpised at all the reading inbetween lines people are doing when it comes to Nami's reaction towards Luffy, and Sanji. For starters if I was Nami I'd sure as hell run towards my captain and hug the crap out of him, hands down. I'd be crying not, only at out pure joy and relief, but also because I failed at keeping the crew together. This is why she says she's I'm sorry. We all know that Nami is co captain even if Luffy is present at the time. Luffy has no problem whatsoever with her making big decisions on what they do. If they are separated then Nami is the one in charge, even if someone stronger is with her.

So her reaction towards Luffy was a mixture of several things. Happiness because her crew is safe. Utter awe because her captain is victoroius even when the odds where stacked against him, and and finally relief, becasue after 11 days Luffy is there, and now he can fix their broken crew. So her behavior made sense to me. Sure I ship LuNa freaking hard, but the hug wasn't meant to "romantic" Instead I think its more meaningful. To me Nami was simply pouring her heart out to the man she truly trusts. Shipping aside the bond between captain and navigator is a special one. So it makes sense to me that she'd show her raw emotions towards Luffy.

Now her behavior towards Zoro and Luffy regarding Sanji is clear as day. She's probably been worried sick this entire time because so far I'm not even sure if Sanji was still with them when they arrived on Zou. I mean we only saw flash backs when they were still dealing with Big Mom, not when they arrived in Zou. Plus you add Wanda's remark about Nami, and Choppers arrival being a blessing, no mention of Sanji.

Anyways I'm rambling. Nami became irritated with Zoro and Luffy because they gave her a typical man answer from a women's point of view(no offense guys) We worry about everything. We think about several outcomes to one problem and how well deal with each one. So in short most women tend to see to the big picture. Were Luffy and Zoro see the now. They know Sanji is strong, and that he obviously has his reasons for leaving, so to them he'll be fine. This is why Nami blows up. She can't comprehend how they can be okay with the fact that the 3rd strongest member of their crew is gone. Perhaps the severity of the things will hit once Luffy realizes that their "cook" is gone. So yeah Nami isn't going to let them just sit on their asses. Hopefully we get to see how Sanji left, and where he went.

Yeah I know that her hugging Luffy doesn't have to be a shipping moment but it is adorable cause that's a first for me.

but op doesn't follow your typical shonen setting. luffy obviously trumps all their importance, but the rest of them can have equal importance in one arc, and higher importance in the next. for example, if we were to meet usopp's dad in the next arc, usopp's importance would obviously elevate past the rest of the straw hat crew except for luffy. their importance is dictated on the plot of the story, not who's stronger. i feel that it is sanji's turn to have the most importance in this arc for obvious reasons.

I think stuff like that is a perk of itself. Though I would joke that One Piece got recognized when they realized Naruto/Bleach was falling but I do think it is great.

op separates itself from the majority, that's what makes it special.

Actually op follow the typical shonen battle manga setting. What make it different is oda.
Zorro is second most important character and then there is the rest.
Remember this is battle manga

Yeah this, It's more of a typical manga than most if anything, Luffy get's the boss, Zoro gets the second in command usually (this changes when they team up with other pirate groups. or the arc has a focus on a certain charactor) Sanji used to get the third strongest but recently he's been all over the place, though that's probably story reasons as well.

That is no different in any other battle manga, example in Fairy Tail, Natus always gets centre stage, and one of the charactor usually gets a highlighted fight due to story focus, ie, Gray and his dad or against Ultear, or Erza against Kagura, and Lucy vs Angel etc.

zoro is only the second most important character when the plot demands so, much like the rest of the crew except for luffy. like i said before, what makes it different is that strength isn't the deciding factor for relevancy. this arc sanji might be more important than zoro, robin, chopper etc. hell, law was more relevant than zoro was the previous arc.

Why do you think the feast start in the beginning of the arc and not at the end?
