So I was rewatching the Danny Phantom 1 hour special Ultimate Enemy, which by the way some of the best cartoon movies/specials I've seen. But I remember this scene between Future Danny and present day Danny, and imagine if some crazy kitten like this happened for Naruto. 

 

 

Naruto (Shippuden era) sees the future (The Retcon era) and notices how painful it is especially seeing Sakura calling Naruto's love like how he loves Ramen, is tied as his future self grins sinisterly. 

 

 

Nauto (The Last):  You're awake good..

 

Naruto (shippuden verse): Wait how am I?

 

Naruto (future self): The chakra time medallion is fused within you making you intangable and allowing me to make sure you become like me at the end of all this. Which means you won't be able to go back in time to fix all of this. 

 

Naruto (shippuden verse): It doesn't matter if I can or can't go back in time, I'll never turn into you never..

 

Future naruto: Of course you will it's only a matter of time..

Kishi and SP helped a lot, instead of making NH and SS canon without going into depth about how they happened they decided to make a movie full of OOC characters, retcons and asspulls ; they tricked the various fandoms into preordering the tickets when they knew their favorite characters wouldn't appear or play an important role and under the flase pretense that it would be the last movie, that's why they call it a fraud in Japan, and thanks to them they increased the Hinata and NaruHina hate by extension. Add to that Kishi's outrageous interviews and we get a fiasco, these morons only saw the benefits at court term but professional businessmen always look at the benefits at middle and long term. They broke the trust that they had with the fandom, and trust isn't something easy to get back.
What a disastrous strategy ! they put into jeopardy their cash cow, they will continue to make money out of it but they could have made much more money, very bad move.
 
It's not even that at this point, they just deconstructed Naruto character, he's by no means the same one we knew in the manga, Naruto has always been an idiot but he never was an emotional retard on the contrary Naruto always has been the most empathetic character in the manga that's exactly why he could connect with other character's feelings Sakura's included but Kishimoto knew he couldn't make Naruto move on and give up because that would mean his hero failed and we can't have that, he was at a dead end and he choose the worst solution possible instead of sticking to what was written since 600+ chapters. Looking at the interview with Yagahi he was the one with the concept of a love triangle and it was him who was handling it perfectly till Kishi decided to add his little touch and we got the failfession, since then romance and the whole manga has been getting worse and worse with each chapter. Horrible horrible writer.

Finished reading it. Yup. I'm convinced that the first editor kept in check and all that. It feels like Kishi was influenced by his decisions, only to backstab good amount of them by the end or even further back. To me, it really does seem like love triangle was revived than anything because of him and/or the new editor. Oddly enough, the editor even said editors are not that smart in manga universe. That would mean Kishi got a bad one. Or couple of them. Hell, I would bet the one that probably got it right was there during 662 and 663 or anything after 615. It felt like things were getting interesting/exciting again. Then, down the tube later on. I remember they changed the editor by the near end of Kaguya's fight. Don't know but that is....odd timing. Whatever, Kishi should have begged for the first one. Not saying the manga would have been a masterpiece, but it would have been far better than today.

And do you remember how everything was so subtle ? there was a chapter when Sai was learning about the suffixes and used Naruto and Sakura to highlight how close they were, just that goes to show how things were so much better handled. Constrast that to the horrendous writing we have been given since the man left : OBSESSION with Naruto not giving a kitten about his future love interest, OBSESSION with Sasuke ignoring degrading and trying to murder to murder his future love interest and Obito's fall because of RIN RIN and more RIN, no Kikitten one sided feelings doesn't make a relationship you kittening hack but this is Kishi's romance Ladies and gentlemen. It's impossible for me to look at these 2 parts and think the same man wrote it, impossible, the writing has neither the same form nor the same substance. Still Kishi had a solid basis to finish Narusaku smoothly but he couldn't even do that. What a failure of a writer, amazing.
