Be honest with me, how many times have MHA topped OP in the TOC ranks now?? A lot. By all indications, MHA is the "it" manga now. The fact it's consistently topped OP more times than most manga in Jump could hope for should be a loud wail of fans demanding OP to hand over the baton. That should be a clear message for Jump to push MHA much, much more.
The reason an anime exists is to boost manga sales. If they needed a good reason to phase out OP, it would be the manga sales. Except for one problem: The initial season hasn't boosted the manga sales by much, when it should be higher than that. The reason is obvious, due to the materials it covered, of course it wouldn't boost the sales.
During pre-production, it should've been obvious there's too little material that can be covered for the first season. If they were serious about pushing the anime, they would've made sure it would cover enough content to hook the viewers to buy the manga. Instead, they ended up being short-sighted and rushed the production. Now either this is intentional or not, I cannot say. But given their track record, I am of the belief it was.
One last thing, I hate OP due to its over-hype. If you asked me a manga well worth its hype, it's FMA. For me, it is the pinnacle of shonen story-telling. That, and Rurouni Kenshin. That is not to say OP is terrible. Far from it. It's very good, but it does not justify the hype fans make it out for.
I don't look at the ToC for a long time, but op get up surp by other manga is nothing new. Haikyu, assassination classroom, and naruto do that.
But it doesn't change the fact that op consistently number one Eventhought it's not as much as it used to be.
And I think it inevitable that op will not be number 1 in ToC.
So no I don't think jump want to push bnha because it threating op.
I don't watch the anime, but how many episode it air? 12 or 24? That's an expect number for a season anime and that's enough material to cover from the manga unlike long running anime that require filler like naruto, bleach, and op. And doesn't it has good reception?
If it doesn't boost the sales, maybe it has something to do with the story or perhaps it doesn't generate enough buzz and poularity like snk? Which in turn affecting the volume sales.
Op is not over hype, it's live to the hype.
I would not call samurai x as the pinacle of shonen manga.
For fma, while it's a great manga (no doubt), it doesn't have the same level of infuence like onepiece since op already surpass dragon ball. Op practially (imo) is the ultimate shonen manga that will inspired and followed by fellow (shonen) mangaka in the future.
Toxic fan always exist in every corner of fandom.
