You're right, both Naruto and Sakura are not to blame. Those were not Naruto and Sakura in the last two chapters we've gotten to see. Kishi and his staff are the only one's to blame for the absurdity we've gotten to read in the end. Only question is whether he will ever understand what irreversible mistake he has done with his work.

 

Part of me wishes he would come out later and admit truthfully to all of this being the unintentional result of coercive forces making him support an ending that betrayed his own hopes for the manga. It wouldn't vindicate his actions, but our resentment towards him could be lessened somewhat with this knowledge.

I believe that Kishi drove Naruto 699/700 into the ground intentionally. I don't believe he is a good writer but 699-700 had that certain air about it. Still despicable and that interview is still disgusting. Not trying to be rude or anything but the other reason could be that there are some issues going on with his life regarding his wife so he lived some fantasy of his through Naruto having a submissive wife.

I brought that up on NF but no one responded to it. If I recall many people including the writer of One Piece has said that Sakura has the spirit of Kishimoto's wife in her.
