You actually believed, "tsundere is dead." That's just a load of crap.

We western audience shouldn't invade Japan's belief at all. Just deal with it because it works great with them. Not saying that to you but anyone that don't want tsundere and wants them to lose in worst possible manners. For the record, that pairing with Erina is very obvious that it's going to be the endgame. Anyway, I have nothing against other pairing that don't have tsundere but if the pairing has one, deal with it.

They don't know everything. Even I know I don't know everything, yet people act like they do. For God sake, I'm seeing more series with tsundere, good or bad. The point is it's there and it's not going to fade to extinction. I have no idea where they got that assumption.

Moe is POPULAR, or rather the current fad in japan, but Tsundere are a long held staple.

From old Anime to newer ones your always going to find Tsundere's but there is an increase in Moe popularity.

Make no mistake, Moe is popular and all, it's just the idea of tsundere is gone or even no longer a thing is a lie. They even considered tsundere as a classic. It's just the new generation either don't understand, prefer other over, or just hate it based on realistic view on a fictional purpose.

You know I just read food wars. I don't think Tsuderes are dead in Japan and moes are everything like some people have been saying. Erina is a Tsudere Princess to here core, she hasn't been in the plot as much as Megumi, and yet she has always been 2 place in popularity polls in Japan. Megumi on the other hand is moe and is everything hinata should have been for us (or at least myself) to accepted nH as a good romance, yet she ranks third behind Erina.

oooh food wars talk! i like this. i think the reason why erina's so popular because she's literally the goddess in that series  also, she's the top with alice in the recent reddit popularity poll. nakiri genes too strong

 

comparing megumi to hinata is a blasphemy  megumi's too good for this kind of comparison.

This wasn't there when i made my comment. To be honest from both the one shot and the first chapter it obvious that Erina is the end girl and Soma getting get her to like her food was always going to be a main part of the story one way or another.

 

Hell the first chapter ends with the dad thinking "the secret to food: is finding a woman you wanted to cook for everyday" or something like that. We then see a picture of his wife and then we see an image of Erina. Before we even have the girl do anything. We know instantly that she is the love interest, and once again apart of the story will be Soma eventually wanted to cook for her...Or something like that.

I just read the food wars for the first time on sunday and read it all the way through. My first thought when i saw her was "oh is she going to be the hinata of this story", and by the time they had that fight with the french alumni i went "wow she is what Hinata should have been." Those were my thoughts reading it for the first time. Too good or not she is what Hinata should have been.

Well, Soma is already aiming at her to like his cook and stuff like unintentionally connects to his father's secret. Stuff like that will force him to give 100% just for her to like his cooking. Not sure how the falling in love will come around, but it's definitely on a bridge that is waiting to reach the destination point.

I agree about Megumi. She's pretty much the Hinata that we should have gotten. Main character or not, at least she is growing and standing up against the odd. She's the underdog that should have been on Hinata for us to be ok with it.

No kidding. The last real progress was if she did good against Neji. After that, all about Naruto and his hand. She had a subplot, work on that. No. Even Neji don't even get to work on it. Died for them instead.

And even then, as I brought up times before, those moments felt more like they were for Neji's development rather than Hinata's (considering we only learn about Neji's background and not really much about Hinata so much as the Main Branch policies in general). Heck, she didn't snatch Naruto's nindo until after he saw what a jerk Neji was being and, IMO, seeing Neji's attacks as more attacks against his own personal ideals rather than Hinata herself, so it seemed that Naruto wasn't so much cheering for Hinata to win as much as wanting his own beliefs to trump Neji's. And yet despite taking Naruto's nindo for herself, Hinata was never able to live up to it since what was one of the first things she does when she sees Naruto get hit by the 64 palms by Neji? Mentally prays for Naruto to give up.

Half. The entire point of hinata character in the chunin exam was to be: the nice girl that is kind to naruto that get beaten up by some jerk, so that when Naruto fight him we are really motivate for him to win instead of it just expecting and waiting for him to win, because he is the main character of course he is going to win. After that kishi didn't need her. So she fell into the background until his new staff were all her fanatical fans and forced her into relevance.

Her character is more on naruto fangirl/the girl who love naruto.
