Alright now we are finally here with the finale of my viewpoint had Naruto been a Book Trilogy rather than an anime/manga:

NarutoSplash.jpg

Book 3: The Semblance World

Differences from the Manga:

- There would be no Five Kage Summit and the whole Kushina arc (happened in Book 2 when Naruto was about to sprout the final tail), alongside the Fourth Great Ninja War Arc.

- The first half of the novel would focus within Infinite Tsukiyomi while the second half focuses in the real world.

-  The first section of the novel would have Naruto getting everything he ever wanted like the people's recognition (which he received at the end of Book 2), getting the girl of his dreams, and the position of Hokage. He wouldn't really question it as everything would be as it was in his world so he wouldn't really be questioning anything that would take place. At least until one night he hears Kurama tempt Naruto about releasing the seal if he wanted to live to which he ignores.

-  Throughout the second section of the novel, Kurama would increasingly attempt to force Naruto into releasing the seal, but he would ignore the tailed beast as he would believe the fox would just want to be out on the lose.  However, Kurama gives Naruto a hint about two things that continously repeat throughout the day and that will be his big indicator that they're caught within the Infinite Tsukiyomi.  In the morning, Naruto would notice a villager hidden within a cloak and then around evening near the gates a shadow figure teleporting away.  Then one day during his usual activities, Sakura (from his reality) shows herself by the training ground who tells Naruto they've got to get out of here, but Naruto believes this Sakura to be a fake as there was already one he was spending time with in the genjutsu world. By doing so he would place the real Sakura in a cell for questioning and continue with his activities, until Kurama reminds Naruto of the situation that is taken place, and how the Sakura he placed in the cell was actually the same girl he's been chasing after for all these years.  Later that night,  Naruto heads back to the cell to confirm what Kurama had told him, and after hearing Sakura reassure everything, he decides to break her out of prison. She also reveals that the only way to get out of the genjutsu world is by performing a special ninjutsu inside of the Red Moon Scroll.

- A resurrected Jiraiya and Sasuke show themselves at the destination Naruto and Sakura seek to prevent them from leaving this world.

- Naruto would battle against Jiraiya, who would ultimately be bested by the latter through the fight until Kurama reminded him about releasing the seal and how that would be his only way to save themselves and escape the Genjutsu world.  Finally listening to his tailed beast, Naruto undoes the tailed beast and bonds his chakra with Kurama. By doing so he would still retain his Kyubbi chakra mode (from the Chikara Filler Arc) but in addition obtain Bijuu Chakra Mode (like in the manga) to finally defeat Jiraiya.  Just as Sakura defeated the fake Sasuke, she and Naruto find the red moon scroll and performs the handisgns for them to finally break out of the Infinite Tsukiyomi World.

- When Naruto finally gains consiousness he finds himself in Shikkotsu  Forest, the world of the slugs, where Sakura, Kakashi, Sai, Guy, Yamato, and the other Konoha 11 are relieved to see him again. They fill him in that Sakura was the first one to have broken through the genjutsu and she did the same with everyone in the Shikkotsu Forest, but Tobi was pursuiting Naruto's body so she had no choice but to escape to the Shikkotsu Forest. Howevr where as it took everyone else about two days to break out,  Naruto took some time simply because of the presence of the Nine Tails. It would overwhelm her procedure of reaching Naruto, until she finally saw the fox and explained the situation to him.  That is precisely the reason behind why Kurama kept tempting Naruto to undo the seal.  The Shikkotsu Forest was the only safe place for them to be considering that the entire world was stilled trapped within the Infinite Tsukiyomi, and through Kakashi, Naruto discovers that three weeks had past since he was trapped. Along with the fact that they needed Naruto to break through before they got back to the land of fire due to his excessive chakra. Kurama advices Naruto to allow him to take over briefly as he shares his chakra with those present as a small portion of the ninjutsu from the red moon scroll  passes through them.  They also discover through Kurama that they would only be unaffected by the Infinite Tsukiyomi for 6 hours and if they don't get things done in time they would be trapped once again.

- They all finally return to the Land of Fire, Konoha specifically, where they see several bodies of villagers and shinobi that have pierced through or have missing pieces of their body at the ruins of their village. There they would also find Tobi who is casually sitting on the statue of  the Fourth Hokage with Kisame, Team Taka, and Zetsu awaiting for their arrival.  Sasuke is revealed to be a shadow clone, but leaves Naruto a message that he is waiting for their final battle in a place they know all too well. Of course, Naruto advised Sakura to stay behind in order for him to deal with Sasuke on his own, but she snaps at Naruto by reminding Naruto the outcome that took place last time and the promise she made of stopping Sasuke together.   Before, he and Sakura went down to finally stop Sasuke, he summons seven shadow clones to help assist his comrades in battle.

- Kakashi with  Naruto clone as back up would battle against Tobi

-  Might Guy  with the Naruto clone as back up would battle against Kisame

- Rock Lee, Neji, and Tenten with Naruto Clone as back up would fight against Suigetsu

-  Kiba, Shino, and Hinata with Naruto Clone as back up would battle against Karin.

-  Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji with Naruto clone as back up would battle against Jugo.

- Sai and Yammato with Naruto clone as back up would battle against Zetsu.

-  As Naruto and Sakura go through the forest, he would learn of the events that would transpire throughout the battle due to his connections with the shadow clones:

-  Tobi is actually Kakashi's old friend Obito Uchiha, and both he and Kakashi would succumb to the excessive injuries from their battle.

-  Might Guy would have defeated Kisame.

- Neji would loose hise life to give Rock Lee and and Tenten the chance they need to defeat Suigetsu.

- Shino would loose his life to give Kiba and Hinata the chance they need to defeat Karin.

- Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji would have survived their battle.

- Yamato would loose his life in order for Sai to make the finishing blow to Zetsu.

-  Despite stopping Obito Uchiha, The Akatsutski and Team Taka,  The Infinite Tsukiyomi is still active and that is when The Akatsutski Leader reveals that he wasn't the one who casted the Infinite Tsukiyomi it was Sasuke.

-  Naruto and Sakura finally make it to the Valley of End where they find Sasuke sitting by the statue of Madara Uchiha.  That is where he gives them a sinister look towards  his former teammates about this being their final battle.

- The battle will begin with Hand to hand combat, and eventually lead into basic ninjutsu, before Sakura enters Slug Sage Mode after summoning Katsuyu, and Sasuke accessing his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan while riding the summon Hawk, and Naruto entering Kyubbi Chakra mode with the Bijuu chakra mode surrounding him.  At that point Sasuke enters his perfect Susanoo form.

-  The chakra of Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke reach a critical point, but as failed safe just Sasuke throws Naruto to the lower level, Sakura uses a water style barrier jutsu to conceal herself and Naruto with one hand as she attempts to recover Naruto's chakra.  Though only getting 25%, Sasuke manages to break through her barrier jutsu,  but Naruto takes the blow for Sakura as he send Sasuke flying to the upper level of the waterfall.

-  As the two give a final glare at one another, Sasuke charges his chidori, and Naruto with his rasengan for the final clash as he claims to Naruto how gulliable he is to still try saving him, and once the clash commences Naruto reassures Sasuke,  "No Sasuke, you are far to gone from saving at this point, this will be your undoing once and for all."

 - Naruto believes he is at his final moments in life, and self reflects about everything he went for and where his journey has led him.  It is there were Kurama jokes about Naruto being a a drama queen and reassuring him about that if Naruto dies then he would dead as well. That allows Naruto to hear his own heartbeat grow louder and louder, and just before he wakes up again he asks the fox of his name to which he replies "Kurama."

- Finally, Naruto finds himself near the boulder away on shore where he finds an exhausted Sakura heal the injuries he received during their battle with Sasuke.  When asked about Sasuke, she reveals that he was at his dying moments and she decided to let him die and instead save Naruto instead. Of course Naruto being confused asked why she decided to save him instead of Sasuke since he always thought Sasuke meant everything to her. At that moment Sakura reveals that Sasuke put her through alot of pain and throughout his absence from the leave he got worse to a point behind saving.  She told Naruto that she chose to save him because at her lowest point he was always there and it was Naruto that pushed Sakura to her limits in training and the final reason she chose Naruto is due to the fact that he put himself in order to protect those that meant everything to him. After hearing that explanation did Naruto realize that Sakura was not the same person he once knew, and how Sasuke had blinded him as to how Sakura was by understanding that she loves him for who he was. Finally, Sakura gaining the hand sign seals from Sasuke's memories performs the hand sign seals with Naruto following pattern to release the infinite Tsukiyomi as it requires two people to complete it.

- The ending of the story would be similar to that of the Pain Arc where they give their respects to those who didn't survive from their encounter with the Akatsutski and instead of acknowgling Naruto as a hero (as that happened in Book 2) All of Naruto's friends,  and the villagers agreed that Naruto has proved himself to become the next (6th) Hokage.  While he received a kiss from Sakura confirming they are now a couple, looks at everyone in the village and has an inner monologue about where his journey had taken him since he stepped out of the Academy and where it's brought him to this point with many realization that "Not everything is going to go the way he plans and sometimes we all have to take drastic measures in certain situations as we prove to the world how much hard work we did to get to this point. After all that doesn't just make us Shinbi its what makes us human.

That would be the ending of the Naruto series in my eyes if it were a trilogy of a young adult novel.  So what do you guys all think Naruto would be from a sucessful standpoint and from a story structure with Book 1: The Demon Fox Shinobi,  Book 2: The Grasp of Pain, and finally with Book 3: The Semblance World? Do also believe that pairings would've been that big of a deal with the series in the format of a trilogy of young adult novels?

When did Naruto's Character development die? When he said Obito was a cool guy? Or the last?

Which I've told you - time and time again - is dangerous! There will never be consensus, son, among those you have helped to ascend. They will all differ in their views of what it means to be free. The peace you so desperately seek does not exist.

These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.

When he became Ninja Jesus.

The sad thing is it's no exaggeration. From talking to everyone and being convinced to being the icon to stop any threats, that is going too far.

In hindsight a lot of Narutos character degredation to me cant be put on one specific moment.

the character in many ways became static and unchanging. A trait Sakura remarked on which should have been a strong point but as the manga advanced became a character weakness as the plot and story seemed in some ways to leave him behind. Naruto as a character became an anchor dragging the story down instead of a sail pushing the story forward.

The aftermath of Sakuras confession to me stands out as a key moment as such. What should have been a character growth moment for Naruto and for Sakura instead became a symbol due to the ending of lies, deceit, and manipulation. In some ways it was at this moment that Naruto became the arrogant weight dragging the story down. things had to be as Naruto demanded they be. Sakura had to love Sasuke, Naruto had to forever trail behind Sasuke as the coolest guy, and Sakura as his unobtainable love interest. whether this was intentional on the mangakas part or not is up for question.

I don't see Narutos character as devolving as many here do. Instead Narutos character seemed to freeze and stop growing. much like Hinata. Hinatas confession and her later speech should have been moments where she grew up and moved on from Naruto. A scene evidenced by the hug where she stood by smiling sadly.

instead she too became rigid and unmoving her character never developing past her infantile crush on Naruto.

Sakuras character is the only one to show a true devolution as for most of part 2 and all of part 1 she had many moments of clear growth. it wasn't until the very end where her character took that last fateful fall off the cliff into character disgrace that we see her fall as complete.

That's one reason why Hinata has irked me for so long, Cat. The fact she got pushed up when she became rigid just like everyone else. Honestly, the stuff  with each of the cast in Naruto as a whole is sad, with some of their development being crap to me, like Shikamaru just trying to replace Asuma to ease his "guilt" when he shouldn't have had guilt over Asuma's death, and should have grown for his OWN sake, or what you said about Naruto and Hinata.

Plus Sakura's character getting spit on, and then we got the fact the hero didn't get to truly be the hero in his OWN. FREAKING. SERIES. Something tells me that Kishi just pissed down the whole series, and that's what annoyed me most of all.

I did but you can twist it easily, which is fine. What's not fine is no follow up. Actually, that's fine IF there's no other pairing doing it.

Hinata move on base on smile need some inner word to prove that.
This is the girl who stalk naruto and have the eyes to see everything but never acknowledge that naruto has feeling to sakura. Seem like hardcore fangirl tried to ignore something bad from her beloved idol or a yandere.

So Hinata need to said it herself that she will give up on her love for naruto.

Well that is the follow up that never happened. To me, it was a set up if not that's it. Some anime/manga leave it as it is, or some does confirm it once and for all. So pretty much minus peace and Nagato is out of the way, nothing characteristic changed.

Yup, it just need a follow up or simply ignore it.
I just don't think the smile is a confirmation for Hinata to move on.
It will not different with anti NS argument that naruto move on from sakura when he see her hug sasuke in the hospital.

I do wonder guys how respected Kishi is in Japan? I mean I know for a fact that Toriyama is very well respected in japan and even Toei and when the manga was being done way back then Toriyama said he would stop doing the manga if he couldn't have Goku age and they did what he wanted.

Heck Toriyama is not happy with how DBsuper with the animation and Toei have heard this and they are worried.

but again how respected do you think Kishi is in Japan, I still say both Kojima and Toriyama are more respected and if they ever said Naruto's ending was bad well I think that would be fun.

I think they respect him as a mangaka.
I don't know if he has the same respect with toriyama or other big mangaka.
