The parallels are the best for a pairing destined to be canon. It seems that there's overload of them, but there's nothing much to do with development with NS except the moment that has yet to come that she's over Sasuke, the moment that she realizes and/or she confesses again to Naruto, the moment that Naruto will confess ( by the way one of those moments may not happen but I'm just listing the most possibles ) and one or two more which are timed specifically in the upcoming plot. Other than that there will be hints and facts like Minato's comment for example.

So, I think Kishi is doing a lot of parallels cause of that. Plus, every manga has their parallels but I think it's rare to see much parallels in manga like Naruto.

Besides... We all know that Kishi has somewhat of a fetish for parallels XD

It's funny because once again, it's not like these characters know the parallels, rather just the audience. No one is telling Sakura to go out with Naruto because she's like Kushina or anything and I like that because parallels should be for us only, not to characters within the story. Reinforcing those will be forcing characters to do what they are told to do, rather what they truly decide to do on their own.

There are other stories that use parallels, but I don't recall if they ever use the parallel to force their characters to do what they didn't think to do. Bakuman has a parallel, but the protagonist already loves the girl before learning about the parallel. It only makes us audience understand the sub-theme of the story: old generation will be surpassed by new generation. That all said I don't blame you guys for getting tired of parallels, but much like Hinata in this arc, it's all being addressed in this one arc, so that's why it feels like there are tons. If it happens separate occasions, it wouldn't be this much parallels throwing to your face. Look at this way, since Obito is probably going to die, the parallel quest will be over for him. Then again, we have Kakashi...

The parallels are definitely only a minor part of it. Hell, even without the parallels, NS would still have the most development, and actually be the most logical pairing choice. The parallels are like the icing on the cake IMO, and they definitely reenforce NS. I mean, with just the Kushina/Sakura parallel, we're shown that they're obviously alike. We already knew this as readers but of course people dismissed, and tried to downplay this. It was nice getting a confirmation in the actual story that Sakura is in fact like Kushina and this is coming from her husband, the guy who knows her best. And we all know who Kushina wanted Naruto to find someone like.  :chuckle:  :chuckle:  :chuckle:

It's really just one of the many ways of pushing NS. All and all, it makes it quite interesting when you pull from other couples/potentials that resemble NS and the NaruSasuSaku triangle.

This.

I mean we should all be happy that these two are making this pairing work really well without the knowledge of parallel or anything that will have them push because one say this guy is cool, talk to him, or this girl is cute, ask her out. It's all building itself because of their chemistry.

The chemistry between Naruto and Sakura is actually undeniable IMO. Their interactions, relationship, and genuine care for one another is so natural. I can't even begin to wonder how anyone would deem anything between these two forced...

I still have a hard time believing that this is the couple that some people can't see, or would even consider, and then to some, this is the Arsepull couple of the story?  :ermm: LOLWUT??

Why did he choose to massacre the Uchiha Clan when it was Madara who was embittered after they ostracised him from their ranks?
(...)
Why was he so fascinated with Naruto's ability to dissuade Nagato from his catastrophic notion of peace? If he was only interested in bringing about the Mugen Tsukuyomi then why did he explain to Naruto that he wished to recreate the legendary conflict between Hashirama and Madara through him and Sasuke?
(...)
Tobi has reiterated numerous times that he has no compassion or interest for this "false reality" yet he apparently found great delight in it by masquerading himself as a childish and naive subordinate for Deidara at the beginning of P2. If he is only concerned with implementing the illusionary world then what purpose was there to creating this facade?
(...)
Then there is the issue of his fixation on Sasuke. We're aware that Tobi wanted to sync him with Gedo Mazo after Nagato's betrayal but why would that compel him to see to it that he becomes "evil"?
(...)
Is his excitement to witnessing Sasuke lose what humanity he has left somehow related to the confrontation he wanted to reenact between him and Naruto? Later in his life Madara did become a pitiless, cynical maniac who was obsessed with inciting conflict. Could this be an attempt at conditioning these two to become like Hashirama and Madara in personality? Or is Tobi just doing this because he likes to stroke his ego?
(...)
Tobi had no reason to make that statement if he and Zetsu were already aware that the actual Madara is still dead. Rinne Tensei is a resurrection ninjutsu that was supposed to be used on Madara. Was he just unnecessarily playing into the persona he was going by at the time because he felt like it?
(...)
Honestly, despite the many positives of Kishi's story certain details just seem convoluted in nature. These plot points can make someone question whether this was the direction he had for his story at the time when they were established.

Maybe I'm oversimplifying it, but I tend to view Obito's actions -- particularly in the guise of Tobi -- as an expression of Madara's personality and motivation.  That because of the way his body was reformed, he is as much if not more Madara -- Madara's personality and will -- and the goofy and weird Spiral Zetsu that fused with his body -- than he is Obito.

Most of the questions above gain more sense and believability if the motivation and/or personality of Madara and Spiral Zetsu are considered instead of Obito himself, and I'm not convinced it needs to be any more complicated than that.

I do believe Obito is in the mix at times.  For example, the question about his "excitement to witnessing Sasuke lose what humanity he has left somehow related to the confrontation he wanted to reenact between him and Naruto" could be motivated in part by Obito's lingering bitterness toward Kakashi, but even so it's still more likely to be Madara's lingering bitterness toward Hashirama.

It all really depends on how and how much Obito is controlled by Madara.

I see "Tobi" as rather similar to Frankenstein's monster, and the real Obito is the monster's heart.  Tobi is the result of fusing flesh and organic matter through an unnatural process, neither completely human nor completely inhuman.  He is pitiable in that he questions the reason and meaning of existence, a broken creature who contains a damaged soul that is a reflection of the thoughtless and insensitive motives of his creator.

It is interesting to note that in Mary Shelley's novel, after experiencing abandonment and heartbreak the ugly monster rejects all the ugliness of humanity and vows revenge on his creator.  Will Obito ultimately betray Madara's plans for him?

Apart from the obvious pop culture stuff like Star Wars and the fact that Killer Bee is a dead ringer for Hulk Hogan (who, if I'm not mistaken, was insanely popular in Japan around the time Kishimoto was a teen or pre-teen), it's not clear how much, if at all, Kishimoto has been influenced by western literature.  Nevertheless, a sort of parallel between Obito and Frankenstein's monster is there, even if it's subliminal or accidental.

yes..Yes....and YES!!!!!

Kishi should encourage us that NaruSaku is happening purely with their development instead of constantly shoving it down our throats with parallels that they are going to happen.

hehe :D

i know what you mean but alas kishi is a sucker for the parallel

i just hope narusaku doesn't have the same tragic end as their predecessors
