The point being made is that none of that or your previous example is thinking on the fly, It is all planned out so meticulously by Shikamaru that it seems he is changing strategies but all factors have already been planned for.
He is so good at strategic planning that he makes it look like he is thinking on the fly

I really want to know what the VAs talk about when they mention "Sakura-chan". I think I heard the word family just before so they might be describing the themes of the movie as Naruto's relationship with his parents and with Sakura. But that's just me speculating.
