I think it worse than that. He just can't write character.
He's not creative with them.
Kubo has much more interesting character than him, despite the so so plot.

I just tend to get way more attached to one or a handful of characters than the rest. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy the series as a whole or can't appreciate the other characters at all. It's just that sometimes I'll be like "this is good and all, but I hope to see so-and-so show up again".
So in a sense I can understand focusing on only one or a few characters as a fan.

That kind of view sometime lead to bias view that the fan character favorite is important more than it should be.
I think in naruto fandom that kind of characters are sasuke, itachi, Hinata, and sakura.

And I feel like I should place less importance on favorites than I do, but I can't seem to really help how I experience these things.

Yup. And this may sounds crazy but, you'd be SURPRISE on how many people that read and likes naruto manga just because the characters looks not for story or plot. Believe me, some people [A LOT maybe] actually read naruto because Sasuke and Hinata ALONE thats it. 2 of my friends do this, she and he said "Who cares about story and plot line,Sasuke powerful is handsome cool hes really my type plus hes a criminal oh that makes him even cooler. Hinata is beautiful strong minded caring motherly hot and sexy, shes just happen to be my ideal girl". They are both my friends and good person, but after that words coming out from their mouth and reach my ear. I suddenly keep my distance with them.
People actually follow this manga just because the character looks good, and thats make them support whatever deed that characters do regardless of bad or good deeds. What i try to convince them with logic i say "But sasuke do bad things and hurt his friends and hinata is pairing fodder damsel in distress she suppose to be strong leader of her clan" They reply with "Who cares i like them so i support whatever they do". Lol and then i go with the details and explain sasuke murder intentions and hinata prefer naruto over her sister that has been abducted in the movie and what they say?? "RELAX ITS JUST A CARTOON".
HAHAHAHA. I feel stupid for trying to make them open their eyes. They just beyond helpless.
At least half of the readers. In all over the world, many people give credit that depends on the look. Bussiness work is the first on the list.

She does the same when Neji dies. She and Neji blocks most of the mega toothpicks and then it's suddenly too much for her, so she stops and spreads her body out as a shield. If you look at the panel you'll see that she planned to take the hit for Naruto, but then Neji took it for her. WTF. I feel so sorry for Hinata for the way Kishi has been writing her. Every woman should've escaped that man. I think Kishi is a very bitter man with a lot of grudges at people that he takes out in his ultra-sexist manga and pretends that he is punishing ppl he hates irl. I srsly think that's it. Hinata's Pain moment, Neji's death, rock tripping, oh kitten lets not forget the tragic ending-Sakura. The problem is not that he can not write women, do not excuse his sexism as incompetence ~ he can when he wants to(or maybe it was the editor idk). Karin is now well written for example. But Sakura went from fighting Sasori with boss dodging skills to needing kakashi to push her out of the simplest attacks in the war. Women's strength in the manga are only used as a last resort, a plot device and it is very much based on how much men around her can save her. Sakura only showed her new diamond power because in the same chapter, we are once again reminded that men have to save women 24/7. Kishi is intentionally writing women bad and then he has the gal to ask his fans "what did I do wrong?
![]()
"
He thinks he is so smug.
Very true dear, but I don't call that sexism , I call it misogyny.

It just hit me. Obit's overblown reason to start the war is a reflection of Kishi being really pissed off that he will never be able to make Narusaku. The flashback serves to show his anger, sorrow and frustration which leads to "I don't care anymore" for milking the series and not even being to write the story he wanted to write.
The parallels are too obvious to be a coincidence. It all screams how much Narusaku meant to him and maybe that's why Obito's character took such a turn.

@hinataiscreepy
Most people will disagree with you.
The same people who tell you that Hinata part 2 is better than Hinata part 1.
The people who at first try to compare Hinata and Kushina and then try to compare her to her father when they realize they screw up.

Without the guiding hand of his first editor the story colapsed on itself.

You know the funny thing is I see people saying Part 1 Hinata was creepy, and Part 2 Hinata you see her grow as a character.
I'm sitting here going like Part 1 Hinata was an interesting character, creepy isn't the word I'd use here because Hinata back then only valued Naruto as a role model and you can see that because it constantly gets brought up in Part 1 that Hinata admired Naruto not loved, admired and you see how Naruto is giving her that push to never give up and I made the defense saying if a role model of yours told you to give it your all instead of letting go then it takes alot for you to make a stance about it. At the end of Part 1 you had Hinata saying "I'll get stronger too." and remember Sakura said the same thing too. SO best way to put it is Part 1 Hinata had more relevance than she did in the Timeskip that's sad. Part 1 Hinata was more of an interesting character and that's the sad thing. When you find a character have more depth when their younger then how they are later on in the story then you know there's a problem.
THAT'S WHAT HEROES DO, THEY SAVE PEOPLE!!

Part 1 Hinata was good. She had potential. But then part 2 came out and all she did was "Naruto-Kun, Naruto-Kun, Naruto-Kun" and that ruined part 1 of herself. And on top of that came this thing which just made it even worse.

I remember a time long ago, when I looked up to Hinata with so much respect in part 1. Sakura at the time was just a silly fangirl (who matured, and developed, and grew stronger and become such a great character who I love to bits...). But back then Hinata was like me, shy and weak, but she didn't give up and continued to prove herself to her family - which i loved so much.
... And then Part 2 and 3 ruined her. I swear, I've never seen someone become so damn obsessed with their crush. I would have still respected her today had she given a moment's thought to just one other person than her precious "Naruto-kun". I found Hinata getting over Neji's death so quickly and instead focusing on Naruto's hand to be the most insulting thing ever. Your cousin just freaking died!
Because of this, I found Hinata not giving Hanabi a second of attention in The Last to be way more believable that it should have been. And I hated it so much, since I have a younger sister myself, and Hinata just demonstrated how to be the sh*ttiest older sibling ever. I wanted nothing more than to just punch the girl and tell her to get her priorities straight.
Honestly, they would have made Hinata 10 000x better if they focused on Hinata's family relationships than the forced NH romance
This is so accurate! I loved Hinata when I first started reading Naruto, and I admit that NH was my favourite pair at the time...
And now I regret liking them at all. I swear, how can NH fans actually like their ship? It's so awful right now. Do they not care that Hinata is actually getting treated really badly - in that they never gave her any development?

The problem is she only do that in the shadow. When naruto need it the most in his childhood, she's absent. Have she aproach her, thing will be different. Maybe it will look like rin aproach obito.I saw on comment on a video saying that Hinata has always supported him and they're nothing wrong with that...

Even if she did approach naruto and help him shes just gonna fainting anyway. Remember what naruto said just before he goes to fight with neji at chunnin exam?
"I always thought you are some weird, gloomy, and uninteresting person". This is indicating that naruto never remember hinata was there for him before. If what happen in the Last movie is true, if hinata was there for him before iruka, then why did he say this?
NH fans say naruto can't remember that moment he spend with hinata because they are too young to remember, that's why naruto need to be put in genjutsu in order to remember it

Because she was never there for him. The Last is nothing more than an attempt at brainwashing the audience in believing that Hinata was always there and that we were too stupid to notice her. I mean if you go back to the manga you'll notice that Hinata pops in almost every panel. We just were blind and didn't notice her.

Yeah, just like we were too dumb to see Sakura only saved Naruto when he was dying from losing Kurama because of wanting him to keep his promise, or Naruto only saving her from Gaara out of his rivalry to Sasuke so he couldn't do it. X-P.

You are absolutely correct. I mean the truth is simply Naruto never loved Sakura; he only pretended to love her because he didn't want to lose to Sasuke. Which by the way he did. But hey that gave birth to most romantic and amazing and perfect pairing in the history of mankind.
The famous Naruto and Hinata. It's so perfect. You can feel the love in the air, it's really that amazing the romance between those two.
Apart from the fact that it's based on rivalry and guilt. But hey it's "canon" so yeah it's awesome.
