So Kishi acknowledged that Naruto and Sakura had feelings for each other, but for some reason they decided to go their seperate ways because Naruto's feelings were never genuine, because they were a product of Naruto's rivalry with Sasuke. But Sasuke never cared for Sakura as a love interest and besides, if his feelings were never geunine, then what's the point of having a "breakup" scene?
This would also mean that Sakura actually developed genuine feelings for Naruto, but now she knows that Naruto was just manipulating her? So her genuine feelings were based on a lie? I have to say, Sakura is handling it well. 
Yeah, so NH and SS are canon. It is what it is, but you will never ever convince me that this was what was intended from the very beginning, especially not now.
