I've been thinking of the conclusion both as a NaruSaku fan AND as a fan of Naruto itself. And I didn't even like it as a fan since we had all those loose ends in addition to the weird-ass pairings, so honestly, I feel it was too much for me, especially with wasted character development, as you said.

Well, I see people saying things like the ending was amazing, and I'm just like ????

I mean, to each their own. I don't argue with people or anything. It just makes me wonder, messes with my mind, and makes me secondguess everything I've said. But logically, I do think Hinata and Sakura were reduced to pairing fodder, and as someone who likes both characters that sucks.

Exactly how I feel. Especially since Sakura had such development throughout the Shippuden saga, which got crapped on in the end. T_T Plus I wish Hinata had growth like that or to not need to cling onto Naruto in the end.

Still, seeing people praise it makes me want to go back and see if I missed anything.

But there's no erasing things like Sakura's kid looking like Karin...I wonder why no one brought that up...hm. And there's no erasing that there are so many loose ends...and Hinata and Sakura's character development being regressed and thrown aside for the sake of pairings...or Naruto not being able to use shadow clones so he could spend time with his son.

 

That said, the people I'm talking about, most of them actually did acknowledge many of the same flaws we did and were like "yeah, I hope the movie covers that". Just, they didn't address it in such a negative light. So...I guess part of it is the perspective we are coming from. I'm speaking as someone who put a lot of stock into Sakura's development, and who wanted to see Hinata's development addressed better. And I really didn't expect for Naruto's personality to seemingly disappear....I mean, yeah, he can't be happy-go-lucky all the time. But this is the epilogue we're talking about, Kishi's got to give us some closure, show us where Naruto is now and how happy he is...y'know?

 

Funny thing is, usually everyone else is negative and I'm the one who goes like "well, I didn't think it was that bad..."

 

It just makes me second-guess myself, y'know? Puts things into a different perspective and makes me feel bad for being negative...even if there is so much that disappointed me.

Don't feel bad about being negative. It was a kitten ending. The people that are praising it are people that are NH and SS fans. Even then, there are a lot of NH/SS that are disappointed because even though their ships are canon, it's canon with absolutely no explanation or at least an extremely poor one. I hate to say that 699-700 ruined Naruto for me because I absolutely loved 1-698 even with all of its flaws. But 699-700 was just so bad that I can't even go back and read any Naruto chapters without being reminded of how awful it ends from a narrative standpoint-- shipping completely aside. It really does suck. I loved everything until the end. And that's how people should treat this series instead of saying, "I hate everything that is Naruto now," because that's kittening childish. Don't hate Naruto. Hate how it ended.

Well, the one person I saw it from was neutral on pairings, I think...that, or they supported a pairing quietly and were very open to other ships. I think they did mention, indirectly, maybe being an NS fan once, but IDK if they still are.

This person acknowledged the same flaws a lot of us did, but they seemed pretty positive about the chapter overall. And I respect this person, so that's part of it.

The people commenting on their review were NH fans, at least some of them, but they agreed with the stuff this person pointed out actually. Just, had a different perspective than us.

 

I definitely agree on your last statement. I've loved and greatly enjoyed Naruto. It's only the ending I dislike.

Part of me wants to believe 700 was fake, but it's stupid to hope and have my heart broken again. It would actually be my fault that time. I'm content (well, not really) believing Kishi sold out and retconned a rushed NS that would have probably still left a sour taste in my mouth (though Chōji-Karui was... now that I think on it, it was nice to see two undervalued characters getting together.)

Think I'll frequent here more often now, been lurking for way too long and this ship, regardless of whether or not it got torpedoed by the others, can't sink after so long. We may be dead in the water, but it's just as well, looks like Kishi is leading them off the edge of the kittening world.

I began to feel better about it when I actually began thinking how to proceed with my headcanon.

I'm still pretty bummed, but well, talking about it and reading fanfictions is helping. And I'm just in vent, talk about my disappointments mode, not withdrawal symptoms mode. (Went through alla that yesterday morning before finding out for sure what happened, really. Glad I got it out of my system.)

 

Oh, more people started being negative on the chapter in that one place. I don't feel so alone now.

I've said it and i'll say it again, I still think this is all just still in IT.

 

May be it's just my defense mechanism but still the rushed ending, The OOCness of Naruto and Sakura....... The character pairings out of nowhere just doesn't make any damn sense.

 

I might just be in denial. The chapter was the worst job Kishi could have done.

 

Anybody else find this weird ??

Plot twist : Sarada is Karin and Sasuke's daughter, something happened to Karin. Sasuke asks Sakura to take care of his Daughter, Naruto is put under CRA and marries both Sakura and Hinata. 

I'm speculating.... like a boss

Actually, if kishi even want nh and ss to happen, at least gives some proper closure between them...you cannot just leave them in a awkward situation, i hate it...

I said I wouldn't participate anymore, but as expected I love this place too much. So I'll just stay to give my input. 

And here is something I've noticed. Since the chapter was released I read several times here how Naruto doesn't trat his son well enough, not happy etc.... And the same for Sasuke who leaves his kids and all. 

Well here is something that proves that theses kids are well cherished by their parents: 

I saw the raw of some pages and:

• Boruto calls his father 父ちゃん"tou-chan" which is a very affectionate way to call your father, like Naruto calls Minato. 
• Himawari calls Hinata ママ"mama" which is an even more affectionate to call your parents. 
• Sarada, she calls her parents ママ"mama" and パパ"papa" as Himawari, it proves that she loves very much her parents and that she's very attached to them. 

 

So now, I don't know if it was convincing enough, but the truth is that it shows how these families are happy, at least their kids, but I'm sure that their parents are as happy as them.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say, if they were neglecting them, they wouldn't call them with such afectionate surname as "papa" and "mama" or "touchan". They would just call them "tou-san" or "oyaji" like Shikidai does. 

 

I was surprised that Sasuke's kid was calling him "papa" I wold have expect his child to call him with a surname that would be more neutral or even respectable like "tou-san" or "tou-sama". That's realy weird for me to see that.

But, Kaguya-san, okay, I understand how japanese works, but... don't you count the rest of the words or actions? Boruto calling Naruto sh*tty dad? and Sarada saying she understands him at least when it comes to her father?

They are saying out loud how they feel. Calling them "papa" and "mama" doesn't change the only thing about their personality Kishimoto showed us. There is no way they areTHAT happy as you said.
