Naruto never really said "he was the coolest guy".
This was a mistranslation. If I remember well, what Naruto really said was " when I think about him, I can only think of him as a cool guy / good guy " (can someone confirm me this please ? I'm sure we talked about it here. )
So no need to fight over this.
I'm also tired to see this sentence overused all over the web to discredit Naruto's feelings (yes I still care deeply about what that character represented)
I know it's a mistranslation,but it's still funny though so I won't stop using it
IMO, Obito's story is one of the better written of all the manga. It's deep, it's full of despair and strong love and dedication. And the end is beautiful. But maybe that's just me...

Obito is the biggest proof to me that Kishi wanted to do NaruSaku and that Kishi, deep down inside, was planning for Naruto to ALWAYS love Sakura and no one else.
Because Obito and Naruto are the same
There are bigger proofs than the Obirin parallel with NS, besides Naruto doesn't care only about Sakura's character like Obito did with Rin (for no explained reason)
By saying Obito and Naruto are the same you are damaging Naruto's character
When Naruto talked to him, he immediately talked about Rin. Because he knew damn well what Obito was going through. But hey, I might be wrong since Naruto only knows about 'ramen's love' right ?
The talk between them is also a proof of Naruto's feelings for Sakura. You just have to see Naruto's face when he talks about Rin, or when he discovered the reason why Obito was like that.
The Rin subject and her parallel to Sakura was never addressed because it would strenghten NS and damage KIshimoto pairing tease structure

Besides, Obito has always been a parallel for Naruto. Have you forgotten how people used to parallel ObitoRin with NaruSaku?
Anyhow, I personally see Naruto having hair like Obito the same way I see Yahiko having Minato/Naruto hairstyle. This doesn't mean Yahiko was trying to be like either of them.
Naruto's still ugly, Obito's hair doesn't fit him. He would be better with his normal hair or some kind of longer hair
Obito is a parallel for Naruto, but a poor one, obirin being kind of a parallel to NS doesn't do any good Obito's chraracter because it was never truly referenced in the story and brought upon in the story
Naruto from 700 is literally Obito with a different collor spread and whiskers
The most important thing is Naruto never went full retard like Obito. Obito also still became a good person in the end. Some of you are quick to forget that Naruto would be dead if not for Obito. In the end, Obito did some good things before he went to the darkside. Even if Naruto decides to be like Obito as long as he does not do all the crazy stuff, that is fine by me.
My problem with his character is the underdevelopment of his backstory and how things progressed till his redemption.He was portrayed in a quite nice way in Kakashi Gaiden however his subsequent appereances tarnished his character and Kishi was not able to save it

It feels like I am defending Obito even though I am not a big fan. I won't say anymore on this matter.
I will always defend Naruto though. He still remains my favorite character despite everything.
Why defend Obito though? He was a poor character who had potential but was butchered by the author... simple as that
Defending the current Naruto now is too much though too, he was also victim of Kishi's horrrible writing
