If you play by the rules, which are all common sense stuff like treat each other kindly and fairly, don't insult others or post inflammatory things, then you can have a great time here. If common curtsey stuff like that rubs you the wrong way, then I don't know what else I can say to you. Most of the members here love H&E, and look forward to interacting and hanging with fellow members. Why? Because the rules are easy to follow. Seriously. You have to seriously try to not get along to break these simple, basic rules that are found on many many forums all over the internet. You aren't going to escape them, unless you prefer somewhere with a more volatile environment like 4chan or NF.

fyi, it didn't start with the video. The incident that got this ball rolling was that he posted a pic that was racist and highly offensive (way moreso than that silly video). He posted it apropos of nothing. No one provoked him. No one was interacting with him. He posted it all by himself, all on his own. If you are going to devote time talking about what he did, at least get the facts right.
It didn't begin with the recent image/vid/blog and it certainly didn't end there. There was more provocation behind the scenes, from him, that precipitated the actions of the mods.
Let me just add that anything concerning him certainly wasn't a kneejerk reaction. I may be a baby mod but after seeing how fairly everything is handled, how much discussion goes into everything — even the smallest issues — I would say that the admin team has been extremely generous with him. Giving him chance after chance. Any resulting warning/ban rests solely his shoulders.
Also, it's easy to pretend there is an establishment here that would like to pick on certain users, but I'm sorry, that couldn't be farther from the truth.
Actually, getting to peek behind the curtain, I'm astonished at how much the mod team works together to keep things going smoothly, answering pms from troubled users and discussing issues in a manner that's fair to everyone before acting on them. And in the rare occasion that a punishment is meted out, you can bet money there is a very good reason for it.
edit: and I'll shout out an "Amen" to Sakura's post above.

Eh, screw it. There's no point anymore. Nothing I say will get through at all. Regardless, I'll just say this and finish.
I understand where you come from, from an intention stance. I understand that you want a peaceful environment here. That's what every place ultimately wants, isn't it? I understand that you don't want people to be offended. But the reaction is almost too sensitive. Yes, you do give much leniency in your punishment. I can see that. But the problem (as I see it, at least) is that some of this leniency shouldn't be considered "leniency" at all.
A while ago, I made the chatroom Heaven and Earth Unite. You probably remember; you're the one who stickied it. I made it for more free speaking, less limitations. As it turns out, I didn't like how sensitive some of the people there were, and in turn that led to some decisions on my part that weren't unanimously agreeable. They wanted some people banned, for example, and I didn't. I ended up giving the chat away to two other members because I figured that people there would much rather have leaders that match their desires, and mine didn't cut it.
I bring this up because I'm finding this out now again, only about this site in general. I'd seen glimpses of it before, but recently it's just stuck out to me like a sore thumb. Too sensitive. Way too sensitive.
I'm not a battle-hungry a**hole. I've broken some rules here, and I admit that. I'm not defending Pachuco because he's disrespectful. Don't think that. That's not the reason I defend anything, even though that seems to be the implication of what you think considering how you respond. I defend when I see it necessary, and to me, Pachuco, as disrespectful as he was, as much mercy as you showed him, didn't deserve his blog closed in that manner. Even though he broke the rules like he did.
I have common sense. You have common sense. We just have different interpretations of these rules, it seems. And I'm not sure that our interpretations will ever mix. Considering your views seem to be the same that all mods/admins on here share, it just doesn't look like it'll ever fully work for me being here. That's my reasoning. Yes, some details are missing, and it's not a flawless argumentative essay or anything. But that's what I'll leave my stance at.

I have been to forums where the admins and mods showed favoritism towards people because they were friends. One person, Person A, would yell at other members, call them stupid, make terrible terrible post about them and they would get away with it, but if the other person who was being harassed fought back. Person A would go to their admin friends and have the other guy black listed.
I have seen corrupted forums before and I thank god, this one isn't like that. Ever been to the RedvsBlue forum boards? Those are the worst I have ever seen and I was even banned once from there because I told one harasser to shut up. He was posting pornographic pictures on my board, racist pics, and other inappropriate and he he got away with. Yet, I got banned because I told him to stop being a child and used the F-word.

This is it in a nutshell. Enjoy Zac. Think of the admins as Freakazoid.

I don't always want hardcore realism, if that's what you mean. That would be boring, I agree. I just want a sense of realism in certain ways, I guess. It doesn't have to be Shawshank Redemption for me to like it.
