It was serious, but it was still more comedic and emotionally driven. THIS arc, however, is different. The rock'n roll music gives a complete different vibe to this.

First serious arc, but far from the best serious arc
What's your favorite arc so far?
And I've heard that Gintama only has one serious after another serious arc.

Hard to pick.
Many of Kondo's arc, Glasses arc of Sarutobi, all arcs with shogun.
