As you probably already know, the next chapter will consist of the entire Wave arc, unless I decide that it'll be too long and decide to cut it in half. (I just got past the first fight and it's already over 6 thousand words.) So far it's my personal favorite. It won't be for long though, the one directly after it is the chuunin exam. Just wanted to keep you guys up to date. Later.

Here and on Fanfiction.net
Unfortunately, it doesn't hold the entire Wave arc, that would just be too long. It's already far beyond my usual, so I decided to post it as is. This chapter introduces what will become a great part of Naruto's style. Try and guess how.
By the way, I'm not losing interest. I just made the mistake to try and do a gigantic chapter, something that doesn't fit my style.

I'd say more but I'm tired. Later.

I haven't exactly gotten around to explaining why Zabuza will accept their offer, that's in the next chapter, along with the pre-chuunin exam preparation and the actual exam.
One thing you need to remember is that every character is based on human beings. They are capable of error. The only information that is 100% fact is the information that comes from me, the narrator. Everything that is seen between "insert speech" or 'insert thought' is merely what the character believes to be true. There's a good chance that most of it is true, but there's also a chance that it's false.
Of course, if I say something like: Naruto believed that *insert belief*; the fact in that phrase is that Naruto believes something, not that what he believes is true.
(I'll give you a hint. The entire story about Makai was told by Teishi. You figure it out.)
What this means is that if you're confused about something, there's a good chance that it's intentional. You're not reading it wrong, you're supposed to be kept in the dark about some things. Otherwise it would just be boring.

The truth is I don't know if I'll be able to continue this fic. Not because I'm unsatisfied with the fanfic itself, but because I'm unsatisfied with the manga... more specifically Part 2. Actually, I'm even more unsatisfied with the anime and it's mountain of crap.
My original plan was to implement as many of the revelations included in Part 2 in my own fic (at least, those that wouldn't contradict what had been said beforehand). Now, if I do continue this story, chances are that it'll deviate completely from Kishimoto's own "work".
Unfortunately, it seems that the manga's path had far-reaching effects. I used to think that my lack of advancement in the story was due to a writer's block. I now know better.
The reason why I am unable to write anything is simply because I do not like Naruto anymore. I used to... I know I did... but I am no longer able to say that this is one of my favorite series.
Quitting is not something I want to do, so I'm going to try something. I'm currently in the process of writing a story that will star the characters of the manga, but will not take place in their universe. In other words, it will be a complete AU. If you decide to read it, I must warn you that the characters will be OOC, because they must be. Without the circumstances that made them who they were, I can't rightfully use their personalities. While some characters will retain a portion of their base disposition, others will be entirely different.
I'm doing this in the hopes that I'll be able to hold on to at least part of the feelings I had for this series... if I succeed then you'll see an update in Happy Ending within a month or two. If not... I'll probably delete it.

It's too bad.. and although I understand where you're coming from, it always breaks my heart when I read something like this.

The AU path is something that I would really recommend. I believe this is the truest form of fan fiction. Sure you have the group that will complain about out of character interpretations and the anti AU crowd. Still, when you take these characters and make your own story with them, instead of rehashing something that's been done a million times over; it will really feel a lot better.

Thanks for the reviews though. I really appreciate it. I haven't started the next chapter yet. Whether or not I can complete it will determine if I discontinue it.
