A good argument! But that Light was the 'real' Light. He was different than the Light we were shown before he got the Death Note. Just rewind back to the first few episodes before the Death Note was dropped on the Earth. The Light that we saw before that, was he consistent with the Light we saw when he lost his memories? He was waaaayyy different than the latter part. His 'lost-memory' personality was far too idealistic than his 'beginning' self. Atleast that's what I think...

Well, Light also told Ryuk before he got his memory of The Death Note erased, that "his old self" will help L with the investigation.  

And we didn't really get to know how Light was in the beginning.

Again, a plausible argument. But what I am trying to say, in a nutshell, is that Light already started developing narcissistic tendencies well before he found Death Note and it so happened that when he lost his memories, he lost his God complex as well! So if that Light were to be taken into account, then yes he'd have become a detective or a policeman but if it's the former light(first 4 episodes), I cannot say the same for him

If it's the 'lost-memory' Light, then he'd have become a policeman or a detective for sure as everyone suggested but if it's the 'first-four-episodes' Light, I can't say the same for him. He could've become something similar to what he was when he had the Death Note! He would have come up with an alternative way....

That's true. But, the only thing Light got erased was The Death Note. Nothing else. I'm sure he remembered Misa and everyone he meet after getting The Death Note.
And, Ryuk told us that he'll erased the memory of the Death Gods and Death Note only. Which means that Light didn't really have those thoughts before he got his hands on The Death Note.

Yeah, Light wasn't a normal person from the start but, I think he would have kept those thoughts inside and would have had a pretty normal life if it wasn't for the death note. That's just my opinion.

It's okay, I just don't like when people blame Light's actions entirely on the DN
