I don't think they would spend so much time/money/energy introducing new characters, creating manga chapters/oneshots and a movie if the DIDN'T plan to continue. 

 

They aren't extending the series past the end of Naruto to satisfy the fans. They are doing it to make more money. And as long as that carrot is still out there (which it obviously is) they'll continue. Otherwise why go to this effort? 

 

The original characters have been redesigned from Kishimoto's manga style. They have a new look, new hair, new lines on their faces. They don't look like the Naruto characters we've known.

 

And the next gen already look different. (And I think there's been another illustration team working on the series for a while.) So everything is in place to continue on with the series just under a different hand.

 

I'm curious to see what the official word is, but they made it clear a while back that Naruto would continue in another 'phase' (can't remember what the term they used was). 

 

I can't imagine they'd put all this effort into a next gen movie, then end the series just when the momentum gets going. After all, it's infinitely cheaper to produce black and white manga chapters than it is to make a movie. 

 

So I wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement come out just after the end of the movie run that the next-gen series will continue in some form. It's exactly what they did with "The Last."

Here's the problem: Where's the tension in the series if they continue? Are we supposed to celebrate Naruto achieving his goals? Becoming Hokage and bringing an end to the cycle of hatred? Well, what's that leave for the next gen?

 

I mean, I could imagine some interesting plots. Say, for example, ninjas becoming increasingly marginalized and unnecessary which beds resentment and leads to a group of ninjas forcibly restoring hatred to further their livelihood. That's plausible, but I can't see them doing that.

 

I just don't know what the material would be,=.

Fanservice combined with mindless action. They don't care about the old fanbase anymore. They're targeting a new fanbase. One that doesn't care about good writing and an interesting or good plot.

I'll keep up only in the sense that I am sure I will absorb some of it here by accident. Other than that, I'm comfortable saying my time with Naruto (this community and a select few ongoing fics excluded) has come to an end.

well I said long ago if I could do a film I know just what I would do sadly can't fix this world its too far gone now, but having it burn by my own bad guy and then the real Naruto and Sakura show up to kill him and bash the ending version would be good for me and please all of you as well.

I'm completely done. Once I see the very last movie, anything else after it doesn't compute with me anymore. This is Pokemon (not talking about quality but how it function), or Yu-Gi-Oh, or whatever. I won't care and let the casual take it from there.

Hope not. Well vol. 71 doesn't have the ending I think... (if it doesn't) Naruto was still fairly and I say fairly very lightly, decent in vol 71.

That's unfortunate. That father/son pair has poor taste. It shouldn't be continued because it's bad writing and the world is exhausted.

Unfortunately, it's the same thing as 50 shades and twilight, it's bad but it has an audience.

The sad thing is that naruto ahd potential to be more, however today it's just a popular mainstream shonen series with an anti-climatic ending full of bad writing

It's jump authority. They will most likely hire someone who can duplicate kishi style.
