I don't consider the last half of part 2 and the last and Gaiden canon.
The only thing I will consider canon from the second half of Part 2 is Kushina and maybe the stuff with Obito that's it.

Same here. Minato and Kushina are the only good things happening in part 2.

Good. Save any more possible harm from being done. Though the damage is already large on its own.

Agreed. What major questions are left for the story to answer and where would it go without it stomping all over Naruto's accomplishments?
I'm sure that won't matter if SP really wants to go forward with the franchise.

I would redo the second half of Part 2.
- I would actually flesh out supporting characters like Tenten, Lee, neji, Hinata (something similar to sd).
- I would make an arc where Orochimaru makes some kind of alliance to capture the tailed beasts with Akatsuki (when they are starting to run out of members)in exchange of a tailed beast that would fuse and render him more powerful than ever before. One big battle occurs in Konoha against Oro and his men along Sasuke and Taka. Jiraya and Tsunade fight Oro and are defeated. In a twist, Sasuke changes sides and reunites with team 7 to fight Oro all three of them and succeed.Oro finally dies and laments on the importance of bonds and that he was so obsessed to know all that he forgot something important.
- Team 7 is happy and all and Sasuke tells Naruto of a way to enhance his beast powers. they go on a classic team 7 trip. We have the Kushina flashback that remains unchanged. While they are on a trip, Jiraya goes to the land of the rain as in the original and dies.
- Team 7 comes back and learn that Akastuki is preparing a major scale battle and every Konoha ninjas prepare for the final battle.
- All the rookies and team get to fight. Gaara is here for the grand finale as well as his siblings. They have to fight tailed beasts and akastuskis. Sasuke vs Itachi is actually epic and a real fight, Gai dies against Kisame and lee delivers the finishing blow. Naruto fights Pain and Kakashi fights Obito (I did not hate the twist that much). They win and we have a happy epilogue.

About time. Too bad he'll leave with the series in shambles.
Let it just be part of History.
Let it be erased form history is more like it.

He should have done this 7 years ago. It's not SJ's decision when the manga should end because of popularity. If Kishi wants out of it, they should have granted him his wish.
"My name is Sung Ji-woo. Some called me the Assassin of Death. A Necromancer Deity... My journey has been nothing but walking over a mountain of corpses. My legion of the dead reigns supreme. None shall block my way or... face the wrath of my blades!" --Solo Leveling.

we don't know if he want to finish it long time ago.He should have done this 7 years ago. It's not SJ's decision when the manga should end because of popularity. If Kishi wants out of it, they should have granted him his wish.
His universe is just expand, but his writing can't handle it.
That's why we got lame part 2.
If he finish 7 years ago, we will get open ending.

That what I think he was aiming for. But SJ never grant him his wish because Naruto was too popular at that time to end the manga and the manga was been constantly saying the Pain Arc was the original final arc. This franchise could have been a lot better if the follow what the Breaker series did is just split that series into three season (or parts). That way the authors can rest. This was not the case for kishi.

But never in or out of the manga has it said that pain arc is the original final arc.
What kishi always said is, naruto vs sasuke is the last fight in the manga.

Its been brought up over the years. There were like two interviews posted in the old Chattes TL Theory Thread. Ending the manga is not ending the franchise. That's why I used the Breaker series for an example. Three different manga.

If that's was the case, then naruto need another timeskip, not ending.
