This is the happiest news I've heard this year. And trust me I've had quite a bit of happy news.

 

But that he's finally stopping this kittens is by far the best. If he retires from manga in general? EVEN BETTER. Without Yahagi He is just gonna make train wreck after train wreck.

I'm glad to hear that he's walking away from Naruto now.  It's a real shame that he butchered his own story and threw nearly 15 years of his hard work out of the window with that ending, but at least we can all now find closure and move on.  Hopefully, the Boruto movie will also be the last we see of the New Era Project.

 

We do have an awesome NS community, so here's to fanon!  Better than canon!

So does this mean the end of the Naruto series?

At least by his hand. That doesn't mean he can't sell the rights to others to do so (or change his mind sometime later) or we get something like Dragon Ball GT.

It's just as well, even if he hadn't been murdering the series in the latter half of Part 2, the ending he chose left the series with very few places to go.

There are small side-issues that could be explored, but the ending wrapped up all of the majors ones completely. What major story could be written at this point without basically undoing all that Naruto worked for? By taking the story world-wide and having everyone happy at the end, what is left?

I would like to launch in a long and liberating tirade on how this is Fate working. All peppered with the wish that nobody will ever take him or his work seriously ever again. Finishing with the burning desire that he'll see what his series is and how much of a joke everything he says/does is perceived.

Thing is he didn't actually ended it. He just continued with a brand new story.

He said Naruto, so Naruto for now. If we saw him doing another manga in the future, which I doubt, then he meant just Naruto and doing another thing later. Unless he changed his mind on making a new manga while he didn't want to before.

I'm curious to see if Pierrot or the publishers will attempt to recruit another writer to continue drawing Naruto for weekly publications. It wouldn't surprise me since profit and popularity are the determining factors in what goes on in Naruto now instead of logic or integrity.

Yeah i found out about the mistranslated article recently. Rather than quiting as a manga author, He will be not be writing/drawing anything naruto related anymore.
