i re-read the manga 4 times, this is my conclusion.

Fine, but if it didn't happen

--
I think it's difficult to make a good ending without pairings. No pairings, no closure. The small details would be blown up, or Sakura and Naruto should at least have a talk, then decide to be just friends. I would be annoyed, I'll just have a million questions for Kishi.
Still better than NaruHina and SasuSaku though, that would been worse.

Good Lord, I would laugh. Loudly.
So many virulent, bitter pairing wars for more than one decade... And all of them would have been for nothing.
Although I would be somewhat sad because I would like the pairing I support become canon.
I'd feel the same way. Part of me hopes for the no-pairings just to see this. I'd be awesome.
I'd feel some disappointment not seeing my pairings, but for the most part I'd care because I don't see how the series can end that way now. I think earlier in Part 2 he could have pulled it off or maybe if he had written a bunch of friendshippy scenes fans took out of context or saw more than was there...but he keeps tossing scenes that have virtually no other connotations except romantic. It's not all the time, but it's been occurring periodically throughout part 2, why suddenly shift gears and do no pairings? He's in a position now that if he did that I expect on screen justifications for it. He couldn't just let it die.
Why have Hinata confess, Sakura do the same, the bit with the love ninja, and Hinata still crushing on Naruto (and reaffirm Naruto's own belief), the obvious parallels to older generations, Kushina's statement to Naruto, and so on if you just going to say, to nah, never mind.
I think in the interest of basic story construction and internal consistency he needs to follow through. It'd be a waste to drag that plot this long and then do nothing with it.
There were many pairing wars in the Ranma 1/2 fandom. Nowadays the fandom is nearly dead, and several Ranma/Akane fans I have met have no desire of engaging in more tiring fanboyish debates about who is the real fiancee or who Ranma should get married to.
About the most I've seen of Ranma is fans ripping characters in fanfiction, but that's about it.
Agreed. The manga's end will just alter the terms of the debate from what will happen to what should have happened and why Kishimoto was a super genius or a blithering idiot. A more modern of example is Harry Potter. Even I felt some of the heat from that explosion and I didn't even read the books or care about the fandom.

If there is anything I hate most in story writing is when the author puts all this development into the story only for it to resolve nothing or do the opposite effect that makes no sense.
I hate going through all these problems and hardships and reading pages of love or love problems in the story only for the whole thing to get wasted. I made a lot of comparisons to The Wonder Years ending and how that couple played out. Yeah in real life things don't always happen the way you plan, but come on. You spent the whole series trying to get these two people together and you decided at the final stretch that the couple doesn't get the "happy ending" that was worked up to it? I find this kind of writing style insulting.

Hmm. If you say. But Anyway Kishimoto said he made the conclusion in the manga from the time he started so if NaruSaku was planned in that ending he will stck with it. He said He's not changing the ending only, how to reach it while creating and developing characters along the way. He created the Naruto Sakura Sasuke love triangle to develop the rivalry between Naruto and Sasuke, and also wanted to portray Sakura as a realistic, and her crush on Sasuke was realistic, it was superficial, and lacked substance she only liked him for his looks and for the fact that he seemingly was perfect at everything. Besides the in the Manga There are no more SS moments then there are NS in Part I in my opinion.

same here. We're just fans. We really can't influence how he's gonna go about things but I assure you that He won's change the ending if he planned NS in that ending. He said so himself.

Yeah the EXTREMELY devoted shipping fans will milk what they can for their pairing until the y die and beyond....... Inuyasha and Ranma are only two series that have that in-explainable flame going on and I'm pretty sure there are plenty more. :faceoakm
Kid, you're gonna have to learn the difference between what pairings WILL happen and what pairings you WANT TO happen. BIG difference there
