No actually I think that was her chakra sealed within the Kyuubi seal, She says it here so Naruto didn't get the Chakra chains abilty not that we know of anyway. If he had activated the ability can you imagine how useful it would be in the battles to seal the reanimated corpse, chains strong enough to hold down the nine-tails would work on anyone with the possible exception of Negato.
@TheOmegaMan: I think Itachi still might lose against Negato but he was almost blind during his fight against Sasuke, dying from his illness, and he was not aiming to kill Sasuke, but to weaken him enough for Orichimaru to make his move so he could seal him, even Zetsu who watched the match commented on how Itachi's movement was slow, and wasn't fighting at 100%. If the Uchiha were not planning the coup, and Itachi didn't massacre his clan for his village, I have no doubt the fifth Hokage would have been him.
I wonder what's going to happen with tha Sharingan Crow now?

Anyway nice chapter, they took out Nagato faster then i thought.
So who's next, Sasuke? Madaras 6 paths? Madara himself? Kabuto? Zetsu? Edo tensei Remnants? Sakura?

Of course, I hope we see Sakura soon, but that's just wishful thinking. Who knowwwss.
I wonder, how far off is the NS reunion? 5 chapters, 10, 50? Ahh I have no idea. But I will cherish it when it does come.
I'm starting to like Itachi more and more. Sasuke is...probably still my favorite Uchiha though even if I do hate him sometimes hahah. But I do think that if Sasuke wasn't insane that he would act similarly to Itachi. If only. Anyways I was hoping for a double chapter, but I don't think Kishi even does those. Has he before?
Soo excited for next week

When will this war arc end anyway, in terms of months or years?

I'm not sure it does.
1) At best, it answered who would win in a 3 vs. Nagato match
2) Nagato was more powerful in direct combat, versus using his zombie puppets. As smart as Kabuto is, I think Nagato was handicapped by being a zombie puppet. (Except if he wasn't controlled, he wouldn't have fought for Kabuto at all. )
It does make me wonder how Madara is going to be taken down. Even if he only has half of Nagato's power, that combined with his space-time jutsu and centuries of experience are going to be trouble. (Then again, I wonder how he will use the Six Paths of Tobi.)

Really, I hope Naruto doesn't become one of those sudden endings that don't have any lead up to the epilogue. I would dread a fight battle during the war and Naruto just saving the day, then suddenly we're in the epilogue and Naruto's the hokage and married to Sakura. I would prefer a more lead up to all this. Biggest thing would be to have the story continue after the war. Honestly, what you said really opened up my eyes as to how soon the manga "could" end even with 50 more chapters.

Yeah, but Kabuto doesn't seem to be fazed at all by the turn of events. He's adding to his grocery list of who else he wants to pick up. Wonder who it is....
So, is Itachi projecting back a genjutsu on Kabuto, hiding his helpful actions toward Naruto? I thought he was. And if that's so, then how does the genjutsu work when Kabtuo can still control Nagato? He'll certainly know Itachi is working against him now.
And again, Kabuto doesn't seem too pissed about it, which makes me think he's got something else up his sleeve.
Halfway through this chapter, I began to wonder if Sakura wasn't going to pop out and help Naruto. You know, like a twist on Hinata's failed attempt. Yet Sakura would be more successful because she has such precise chakra control. Sakura surprises Nagato with a punch, giving Naruto enough time to break free...something like that. Anyway, I know, I know: it's utter silliness. But there is a poetic justice to it! lol
As for N/S, I don't see it till the end. Sorry. And when it does, I could see it going either as a happy reunion with all of them fighting, or Sakura is used as a way to unhinge Naruto. I'm holding out for the latter, as Sasuke would know full well about that aspect of Naruto.
The last panels were just weird to me. (Maybe the translation though.) So is this Kishimoto's way of saying we're in the third big arc? I realize the statements were about Jiraiya, Nagato, Naruto...but I can't ignore that it could also be a statement about the manga. Anyone else get that? Like it was a direct note to the readers that it's about to get serious?
Also, about skipping Minato, that just reinforces to me that he was really not seriously considered a "chosen child." He was a powerful adult and apparently a precocious kid, but the thought of him as the "child of prophesy" must have come and gone pretty quickly to the main players (Minato, Jiraiya, etc.).
Yeah, agreeing with others, I have no idea where the manga's going to go next.

Hmmm, the third big arc. So part 1 with Naruto growing up is arc one? Naruto vs Akatsuki would be part 2. And arc 3 would be Naruto following his destiny and ending hatred?

I don't see Itachi being stronger than Nagato. He lost to Naruto combined with the Nine-Tails' Chakra, Killer B in his Tailed-Beast Form, and Itachi using his Mangekyou Sharingan, which is the biggest cheat in the entire Narutoverse. I'd be more surprised if he didn't lose.
That statement about the second part being rubbish compared to the first part: It seemed to me that Masashi Kishimoto acknowledges and is sorry for how poorly the time skip went. He just used Nagato to voice it instead of putting it in a side note. Takes a big man to admit they made a mistake. No wonder I like him so much.
As for where we go from here: There's still a hundred zombies running around that need to be taken out, as well as 50,000 White Zetsu Clones. That's the entire reason Naruto entered the war, remember?

Anyways, could Kishimoto be alluding to the possibility of a part 3? If so then I think that would be the perfect place in the story to add some more world building lore. That way the series would talk about more clans from the other Five Great Shinobi Nations and small Ninja Villages, more advanced elements, more Jinchuriki facts and many more things that I can't think of at the moment. Kishi had the chance to do this in part 2 but instead focused more on Naruto's hopeless quest to save that unlikeable selfish prick named Sasuke who doesn't even want to be saved in the first place due to his inhuman obsession with vengeance without single consideration for any logic or reason behind his actions.
Though I still look forward to the next chapter anyways. :True:

The Second book being a bomb is because Nagato made the wrong choices. He felt he let Jiraiya down and he turned hope into despair. It's the reason why he chose to put his faith in Naruto. So I don't necessarily think this pertains to any sort of ARC or how the manga is broken up. Naruto can go on pretty much as long was the writer wants it to.
If the series was to be extended I could see Madara getting defeated and Kabuto somehow slipping away and becoming the main villain.
I know Minato was kinda glazed over, as part of the book reference but although he was powerful, I don't think Jiraiya believed he was the chosen one as much as he did with Nagato and Naruto.

To me he's like a dark guardian angel at this point and there is no doubt in my mind that a 100% Itachi would have taken out a 120% Sasuke pretty easily. Hopefully we get to see more, like where his "most powerful" jutsu orginates from.
Correct me if I am wrong, did Kabuto summon Jiraiya? Wonder if it's an oversight or an overt insult. He is after all a sage and a Sannin. Plus it would take quite a bit for Naruto to kill his own teacher.
To disgrace oneself is something a samurai should never do.

Kabuto says he can't get Jiraiya because his final resting place is deep underwater, the pressure makes it unable to retrieve the body for any DNA.

Pretty sweet chapter. The three-way super ultimate blast thing was awesome, as was seeing all six paths of Pein (I'm pretty sure we saw all of them anyway). I'm liking that Itachi's still around, I'd like to see the look on Sasuke's face if he sees Itachi helping Naruto. Ouch, maybe that's a sign to reassess your goals, Sasuke. Though, for some reason, I get the feeling that Itachi's not gonna be around for too much longer. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
I also liked that Itachi himself said, "Every jutsu has a weakness." It feels like foreshadowing, considering Kabuto's comment that Edo Tensei was perfect. We already saw that Shisui's Sharingan was able to break free from its control, I'm guessing we'll see that it has an even greater weakness later on. Maybe that'll be the key to defeating Kabuto, when it finally happens.
Kabuto mentioned not being able to bring Jiraiya back here. Maybe he's lying, but we'll see. Maybe Kabuto got some Jiraiya's DNA from Pein's weapons (if he managed to obtain them). It would definitely suck for Naruto to fight his teacher though. Not that I wouldn't mind seeing Ero-Sennin again, maybe sages can break free from Edo-Tensei too.
