Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li

I'm still having trouble accepting that this movie won't have my fav characters (Ryu and Ken) in it, so I'm still a little bit peeved about that. I would have enjoyed an origins movie of Ryu and Ken's alot more than Chun-Li tbh, but I guess I'll have to wait. Chun-Li is a cool character, but I don't like to mix Kristin Kreuk in that mix since she'll always be Lana (-of fail) to me now after almost 8 years of Smallville. She's not much of a martial artist either, so I'm not expecting much. I am hoping for a Street Fighter-movie franchise though, since there are a couple of characters that could make good movie-material.
However, I can admit that she doesn't hurt my eyes.

Agreed. The first Mortal Kombat movie was the one that originally made me feel that video game films could be done; which at the time was kind of a pipe dream. I'm kind of missed it's never gotten a decent DVD release though. All it got was a barebones release from about eight years ago.
I try to forget the second Mortal Kombat even exists. It saves me inner turmoil. =3

As much of MK series are a flop now at days, the first MK movie was a hit and followed many points (Christopher Lambert as Rayden; adding Kitana to the story who was suppose to appear in MKII and working for Shao Kahn as one of his menions but -imo- her popularity led her to be included in the movie; following true to the original storyline of the game, etc.) There is a DVD release, though it was packed with Annihilation.
As for the second movie, it will have been better if Bridgette Wilson and Lambert returned to replay their roles as Sonya and Rayden and rewrite the movie following II and 3 respective. (C'mon, adding Jade as an spy and evil character... WTF?!)

Last Mortal Kombat I liked was Deception (Though I haven't played MK vs DC despite really wanting to). Deadly Alliance was just too damn slow and Armageddon screwed over the fatalities and endings. Midway's suffered appropriately for them though; see their current filing for bankruptcy.
Which is kind of sad. Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe sounds fun (I'm a sucker for comics) and a sequel could show promise for even more DC heroes. Though the first one should have had Lobo. I mean, how can you have a hyperviolent fighting game with DC characters and not include Lobo? He's the Main Man!
I know. It was also sold seperately though. And completely barebones. Which I mentioned.

No. FFVII AC is different. It's computer-animated and a "What if..." sequel to a videogame. If people basically follow a good plot and understand the characters that are exactly alike to the original, then it can work (not just say, "Oh such and such will work with the bad guy to make the story more interesting"). Street Fighter II (the anime movie NOT the 1st live action with Jean-Claude Van Damne) was the best animated movie and it followed the storyline perfectly..., well almost because of Cammy being brainwashed for Shadowloo after the Ryu vs. Sagat fight in the beginning. But other than that, the characters were intact and act like the same as the videogame personalities. Hell, even Street Fighter Alpha movie also did a good job on that part, except for some particular issues.
Other animated movies like Tekken, Fatal Fury, hell even Sonic the Hedgehog (yes Sonic had a movie though in US terms) were bad.

Normally I don't take IGN's opinion for spit, but any movie that drives a man to wish he were watching the '94 abomination... yeah, that's bad man.

Oh man. How could you let this happen Capcom? Seriously, one bad Street Fighter was enough! Adding insult to injury, the films been a box office bomb so far. I'll be surprised if it even makes it's budget back! XD
