I had a feeling he was going to get involved in the lives of Naruto and Sakura on levels much deeper than teammates. Seems Sai is saying the things both naruto and Sakura can't.
I wonder...I wonder what Sai is going to do next in the series.

Ofc we could get a little push for NS on the side.

Not directly a matchmaker, but like you said he did get the ball going.
I mean think about this for a second, Sakura would have never of known of Naruto's feelings....okay maybe she would, but that would have been later down the road. Not now.
Sai saw this "emotion ball" that kept growing bigger and bigger. Since he is a character who is new to feeling and wants to understand them better he saw something the others were avoiding somewhat. So he decided to create a little chaos and push the ball to get it rolling. (Possibly learning that to hide ones emotions is not a good thing. When you hide them they rip you from the inside out.)
Now he is watching the momentum. Ch 470 came and the ball slows and almost stops. So what is Sai going to do? He is going to push it again to continue the momentum.

I am wondering if Madara is going to pull out new Akatsuki members (like Oro did with the Sound Four) out of the blue.
Or if there is a link between Madara and Danzou, maybe the Anbu will (unwittingly) become part of the villain's army.

While I doubt he was put in to be NaruSaku's major catalyst, if you think about his role in the series, you'll realize how important he is. He's been there for the better half of Part II, and is more than likely to stay.
I also just remembered something. Didn't Danzo assign Sai to keep an eye on Naruto? I'd like to look into the significance of that a little more.

I know Sai is not there JUST to create NaruSaku pairing, but no doubt he plays a role in trying to do something with it.
Sai seems not only just fill the role of a replacement Sasuke, comic relief, and looking sexy....erm....well it seems he is also going to be someone who brings people to be honest with themselves. Major point going to Naruto and Sakura. It's not that he is trying to get them together, it's that he is trying to understand them more while at the same time trying to get them to stopping hiding themselves. Sai seems to be bringing out the best in Naruto and Sakura. A true teammate.
Like he always asking Naruto and Sakura questions on how friends should behave and such, but in an ironic circumstance Naruto and Sakura are not being truthful of some of their own emotions whatever they may be. They sometimes are hypocrites to their own teachings which I think Sai is confused about a little.
I don't exactly know what Sai's plan is or what he is really thinking, but he seems to have a plan of some sort. He is being too sneaky about things whether for good or bad purposes for this to be something spontaneous.
I have a theory, but it's too early to tell what is going on. I wonder if Sai is going to be an unknown catalyst to future events. There is a saying "If you do something right, it would seem like you did nothing at all." I wonder if that is the role he becomes. Someone that does something to happen, but did it just right that it would seem like he did nothing. I hope I made that clear.

i hope he doesnt cause i would still like to belive that he isnt full gone yet.
I think he has even toned down his three subdorites a little too
Or if there is a link between Madara and Danzou, maybe the Anbu will (unwittingly) become part of the villain's army.
i vote for the Madara and Danzou link too that would be cool

The question is what truth this is suppose to be. The truth about why they were there? The truth about Sakura's confession(it being fake)? Or the truth that it was actually real, unlike what Naruto though.

Look at what Sai says- the truth about what Sakura was trying to say but couldn't- all that sounds like to me is about the kids vote and plan to kill Sasuke because of how dark a path he's chosen and the threat he poses. Sakura couldn't get those words out because while she's mentally accepted it as their only choice the old team mate bond in her heart makes it too difficult to say, especially to Naruto with his intense bond to Sasuke, and even moreso with Naruto's reaction to what she did say.
