Besides, people squicked by May-December romances should be just as grossed out by Sasori/Sakura.  He was older than either Kakashi or Gai when he died.

Sasuke tried to kill her but she was his comrade, they kinda have history, Sakura was nothing for Sasori and they were enemies, that's why they tried to kill each other, I do agree that he's even older than Kakashi, but Kakashi it's like an older brother or father for her, that's why it's even more weirder. A crack ship it's one that never would happen, but if they both have interaction that it's like Kakashi and Sakura it's just awful, because you have in your mind the kind f relationship that Kishi maid from them. I like how Sasori and Sakura look, because they are sexy and the fanarts are great, if only he were 20 or something...lmao. I think the problem is that he looks so young and it's easy to fangirl over, hahaha

How come you're okay with SasuKarin then? I've never seen you point the hypocrisy of SasuKarin complaining about SasuSaku in their appreciation thread. To me it's strange that someone who writes post of how SK is plausible cannot stand the idea of SasoSaku. (I'm not trying to start a fight or anything) And it's not Sakura fans that go on and on about Sasuke trying to kill her. Sakura fans include a lot of SasuSaku fans as well.

There's a big difference between SasoSaku and SasuSaku/SasuKarin. Sasori never knew Sakura. She was his enemy from the very beginning. He killing her has nothing to do with him mistreating her or betraying her unlike SasuKarin/SasuSaku. It's like the friendship of Gaara Naruto being completely different from Sasuke Naruto. Both tried to kill Naruto but the meaning behind it and the impact is different. I think people see the potential in SasoSaku because he acknowledged her. it's the first time Sakura was acknowledged by a very strong enemy during battle. Sasori is a poison specialist so he knows how far her abilities go and that's more than we can say for people who are not Tsunade or Shizune. Sure, it's never going to happen but people see the possibility to imagine what could've been.

In terms of old man and young girl, that point becomes kind of moot to people when the guy lives for eternity. Inuyasha? I've never read it but I hear he's lived for more than a hundred years and at the same time he's dating a high school girl. Ewwww.

I think it's fine if people ship SasoSaku. They're crack after all. Just joke pairings that have no pairing basis on the canon story so if there's hypocrisy, well ... it's crack. Neither SasuKarin or SasuSaku are crack pairings so it makes better sense to take their characteristics' more seriously IMO.

 

Crack ships just don't often bother me. My only issue is when fans blur the lines between crack and canon. But KakaSaku ... yeah, I will admit that ship kinda creeps me out. Teacher/student or "Father"/"Daughter" (which KakaSaku reminds me of) ships are harder to swallow.

Sorry about that. I didn't really know that dog demons grow slower. I judged it without reading the story. It's a lot more acceptable in that case.

Wow.  You packed a lot of stuff into this these paragraphs, but I'll try to break it down and answer everything the best I can.

 

First of all, I never said I "cannot stand the idea" of Sasori/Sakura.  I just think it's one of the more ridiculous crack pairings.  They have next to nothing in common and no interaction beyond a fight to the death based on polarized values.  Plus there's a nearly 20-year age gap of experience and maturity, which seems to bother some people when applied to other May-December ships. 

 

I simply don't see the point, and Sasori's acknowledgement of Sakura doesn't make up for it -- nor does the fact that they supposedly "look cute" together.  But that's me.  It doesn't bother me that the ship exists, or that other people enjoy it.

 

As for the rest....

 

I agree with you completely that there's a big difference between Sasori/Sakura and Sasuke/Sakura or Sasuke/Karin, but perhaps for a different reason.  

 

The point I was trying to make in my other post is that if any Sasori/Sakura fans are also people who go on and on about attempts on Sakura's life being a deal-breaker for a relationship with Sasuke, there's an element of hypocrisy.  Because that's literally all Sasori/Sakura has -- their attempt to kill each other.  There is no history of partnership or relationship or camaraderie.  Nothing.  

 

What makes mistreatment and betrayal painful is the fact that some level of emotional involvement had to exist before the relationship could be damaged. Emotional involvement usually means emotional investment, and the depth and circumstances of that investment not only matter but make walking away from the relationship more difficult despite what may have happened.  

 

As for Sasuke/Sakura and Sasuke/Karin, my evaluation of the two ships is different because of the girl involved, her feelings, and her motives.

 

Sasuke's attempts on Sakura's life are not the biggest issue for me like they are to some.  I saw them as a manifestation of much more than his willingness to take her life.  After all, in both cases Sakura was trying to kill Sasuke.  It's what ninja do.

 

For me, the point is that Sakura was attempting to confront Sasuke on a moral level -- in terms of his own actions and the threat he represented to Naruto.  By attempting to kill Sakura in return, Sasuke proved that not only does he harbor no personal love for Sakura, he doesn't respect her, her values, the feelings he knows Naruto has for her, or whatever bond that had ever existed between them as friends and teammates.  It was more than just a rejection of Sakura, it was a purposeful rejection of everything that was ever right or good about his life.

 

By contrast, Sasuke's willingness to stab Karin was about convenience. Karin was there, deliberately and willingly supporting Sasuke in the murder of Danzo.  Sasuke wasn't making a moral statement through his actions.  Karin created an opportunity for him to use the element of surprise, and he took it.  You live by the sword, you die by the sword -- right?

 

I have said this many times on this board, but the reason I don't find Sasuke/Karin appalling is because they are both damaged people, walking a dark path -- a path they both willingly chose.  Karin knew exactly what kind of man Sasuke was when she chose to devote herself to him.  She knew what he was about and what he planned to do.  The fact that Sasuke would betray her love and service to him in favor of meeting his personal goal should not have surprised her.  That's exactly the man she loves.

 

Like I've said before, Karin knew Sasuke was a snake when she picked him up. And since she was stabbed, has she changed any?  Has Karin realized that to be treated better she needs someone other than Sasuke?  Does she regret assisting him in murder and mayhem?  Does she want to become a better person and fight for what's right?  Has she demonstrated any desire to correct the course of her life in any way?

 

No. She's still Orochimaru's minion.  She's still hanging out with Suigetsu and Juugo.  She's apparently still in love with Sasuke and willing to overlook what he did.  It's difficult to concern myself over Sasuke's treatment of her when she shares his lifestyle and values, and doesn't seem willing to reject him on anything resembling moral grounds.  In light of all that, the fact that she apparently hasn't rejected him outright for using her to kill Danzo doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

 

Consider what Kakashi said about Sakura in #675. "You still have feelings for someone who tried to kill you.  No matter what happens, you're unable to cast away the one you liked and still think that it's your duty to save Sasuke from the darkness.  You're a kind girl."

 

Now let's flip it for Karin. "You still have feelings for someone who tried to kill you.  No matter what happens, you're unable to cast away the one you like and still think that it's your purpose to serve Sasuke in the darkness.  You're a damaged girl."

 

From my perspective there is a huge difference in Sasuke/Sakura and Sasuke/Karin.  There is a difference in the girls Sasuke betrayed and was willing to kill because of what each girl stands for, and her reason for caring about Sasuke in the first place.

 

For the record I don't ship Sasuke/Karin.  I believe Kishimoto might be shipping them, but I personally don't care.  I think Sasuke is awful and undeserving of anyone.  But so far Karin hasn't shown any meaningful signs of expecting more for herself.

 

Just my opinion.

Why are people only complaining here? Nobody was complaining at the NaruIno thread or NaruKarin thread or the NaruSasu thread. Those pairings are equally ridiculous but I find it unfair that they get to have the luxury of not being complained at.

I'm not talking to you but I'm talking about the others who come all the way here to say they wanna puke. Are these the same people who go to youtube to bash SS/NH videos? No, right? Why are they doing it here? Especially when they're not doing it for the other crack pairing threads like NaruIno or NaruKarin?

DeiSaku's the best. Forever and alwaaayssss <3 Though, isn't LeeSaku technically considered non-canon? Because it isn't TOTAL crack. I mean, Lee has feelings for Sakura and she sees him as a friend, so it isn't completely absurd for them to be together in fanfic (though obviously in the story they won't, and I don't think many people seriously contend for it...) DeiSaku and SasoSaku are TOTALLY crack, though, because they barely interact, and when they do interact it's as enemies. And besides, both of them are dead anyway so fat chance for that to happen. NaruSaku and SasuSaku are considered canon pairings, aren't they? Pairings that actually have a chance of becoming canon? (Debatable, yes, because obviously NaruSaku will become canon, but there are people who seriously believe SasuSaku can happen so we'd have to consider it under that umbrella). Anyway, I think it's totally fine for people to enjoy their crack, as long as they don't take the crack too seriously and try to prove it as possibly becoming canon O.o
