Ah, so finish the what they are currently doing before stopping the run in favor of Shippuden. Yeah, that I'd vouch for. Although Ideally it be better to have them both in but they'd need more time slots for that. Well what to do?

We'll at least they will have finished the Chunin Exames Prelims, and if I'm not mistaken the last episode they show will have Jiraiya in it, so that will make me happy.

Yeah, actually I'm sure that the original series has already aired all episodes in NA now that I think about it, so bringing Shippuden in is not detrimental in the least.

You're correct. The original series ran a couple years back, probably started back in 2006 I want to say. My guess is that nearly all of the Toonami audience has seen the original series, either online or back in its original run.
Plus, my guess is they were working on getting the contract for Shippuden and just put the original series in that time slot until they managed to get the rights. If it would have happened right away I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped airing the original series in the Zabuza arc and just replaced it then.
