Sakura should still be pretty popular considering the number of NS moments. Even NH fans should realize already that NS is the dominant pairing. Exactly if Kishi listens to the fans bases NS will come true.

Even if that is the case, fangirls are gonna fangirls. They will still create them fanfictions. Hehe, I found a fanfic on what happens if Naruto discovered them (the fangirls that is)

If he didn't want to put the hero and herione together then why would he build them up to the point where we assume they're already together but they're not.
Also, if that was the case then why wouldn't he just give the hero with the shy girl and the heroine with the chicken-head avenger more and better development.

I've heard NaruHina fans use that line before, but everytime you ask them to quote the source, they seem to change the subject. I assume, if that actually was said in an interview, more or us here would be worried.
Besides, what kind of author ruins the plot by telling the fans how he's going to end it? If he did say that, I'd be even more skeptical. It seems like textbook trolling to me.

I wouldn't say that exactly. Although I don't know why Volume 35 has some special significance, I've seen an interview in the American version of Shonen Jump where he said he hadn't put too much thought into how the romances would be requited (maybe Volume 35 might have come out in Japan during that interview *shrug*). I think he was more talking about how he hadn't figured out how he would resolve it. I mean there's a difference between romantic hints played in a comedic light, and scenes that seem to serve no other purpose than to shed light on the characters' feelings for one another (ex. Yamato's Tenchi Bridge Line). This is where I think NaruSaku has the upper hand. Naruto's never shown romantic feelings for Hinata that weren't played for comedic value, Sasuke's never shown romantic feelings for Sakura, but there's been more than one serious scene where Sakura's feelings for Naruto have been explored.
I know NaruHina fans love that interview though. There was one line they went a little crazy with:
Interviewer: I hope Hinata gets her chance. (referring to previous talk on unrequited love in Naruto)
Kishimoto: I hope so too.
I took it as more of a sign that she would get her chance at love (with anyone), or confessing her feelings (which actually happened), but it was funny how many NaruHina fans took that interview as a sign that NH was canon.

It's a made up quote. Kishimoto never said it in any shape or form.
And that quote about romances has been seriously altered. It comes from an interview at the time part 2 of the manga was starting (What would become volume 28.) He instead talked about how he didn't think he was that good at writing romance but he was going to try to get better and that at least one of the romances in part 2 would be mutual. Way different from that rewrite....
Kishimoto's done more than 1 mutual romance in part 2 either hinted or outright: in order of appearence- Shikatem (playfully hinted at by their snarky denials), AsuKure, JiraTsu(arguably- although not fully consciously realized by Jiraiya, he seemed to actually sort sense she did love him from his redirection before she could outright confess to him, and by his words about becoming more serious when he returned and Tsunade's internal reaction to those words...), KonanxYahiko (and to a degree KonanxNagato as well), NaruSaku, MinaKush, HashiramaxMito (and although depicted as more a partnership than romantic HiruzenxBiwako), and that's not even including the vaguer mutual ones like ChoIno

Interviewer: I hope Hinata gets her chance. (referring to previous talk on unrequited love in Naruto)
Kishimoto: I hope so too.
A NaruHina fan has used that against me before and it ticked me off. Why? Because from what I see, Kishi meant that he didn't know what was going to happen yet for sure, that he had yet to think things fully through.

i thought kishi already gave her a chance. that confession :O that was her chance, but naruto forgot/ingored it and got hugged by our wonderful pink-hared beauty :3 seriously if kishi wanted naruhina he wouldn't have gone so far as for sakura to hug naruto in front of hinata
