I did wonder why there was the discrepancy in the timeline, but thought maybe it was because he was the child of two immortals.

Well played by Mashima, in hindsight it was staring you in the face, his actions and behaviour did not really make sense, but because of how the parents look you forget the time line and don't think of it. The Second FT master turned out to be a right prick, to abandon the child like that, even if he was the son of Zeref, he was still the child of the beloved friend.

 

Must be weird to know your Mother looks like a 14 year old, your dad looks like a 19 year old and your uncle looks like a 17 year old, and you look like the 80 years old man that you are.

 

Though that still doesn't explain the light magic of the Rekhid?

 

I don't think this shows that Mashima of old is back, he's been capable of the odd surprise for a while now, but the current reveal was pretty cool, though if there was any point to it,I don't know, infact this could even be considered a giant troll.

Well I will consider it a good development for the time being mainly becasue I can not find a flaw to nitpick at for the time being but don't count me out just yet

Not completely but you can tell he put more thought to it. I even went back to older chapters and it didn't act like Kaguya's bs.

Have to say I haven't been this surprised but felt it made sense at the same time with Fairy tail since we found out Zeref and Natsu are brothers, the hype for the son of Zeref and Marvis still lives.

The decoy to steer us away from the truth staring at us the whole time. Without him this revelation would not be surprising but Mashima made it so we wouldn't question him as being Zeref's son. He was a Dragneel, he had immense amount of light power, he called himself Zerefs son, and he was blonde just like Mavis...That's why despite being impressed by the revelation, I also consider the whole thing to be a massive troll, he obviously made Rahkihd the perfect match for Zeref and Mavis's son, and made a point of showing him whenever August was talking about the unloved son.

 

I wonder where Mavis is going right now, will she make it to Zeref or will she get to see her son for the first time in 80 years or so. Hopefully it's the latter, despite his age, and allegiance it would be nice for him to know atleast his mother loves him, even if she is a 18 year old loli stuck in a 14 year old body that as frozen in a Lacrima for longer than he has been alive.
