It was. There was development and I loved how Gohan kept comparing Videl to his mother XD(Maybe Kishi was inspired by that, huh?

OMG are you serious? Romance has single-handedly destroyed the characters in this Manga, just look on Sakura and Hinata plus all the tragic loves.

I meant that Kishi does the development better that Toriyama. It destroys the heroines like hell. You have a point on that but it's still better than the romance in Dragonball.

Dragonball romance, if you can even call that, is more of a "Got to have the main character a happy ending." I do refer this to Goku, of course. Even then, it's a guy paired with a tsudere. Go figure.

Though I'm still skeptical that romance will play a part outside of Obito's current motivation, it still a good sign from our side that Obito's crush is similar to Naruto's crush on Sakura. But I just need to ask how this will hurt Sakura?
Oh, FYI, if the series does have sudden focus of romance, than there's that possibility he make focus on other pairing possibilities. Who knows, maybe instead of learning that he should confess to Sakura so wouldn't end up like him, maybe Naruto will learn to move on to someone else so that he wouldn't be forever stuck in that one-sided crush. Like I said, this is a possibility, one that doesn't seem likely as it wouldn't really make sense of the certain parallels Kishi has been showing us (especially the Minakushi parallel) and the fact of why he never expanded the other pairing possibilities outside of just a few chapters.
But.........that possibility is still there....

I wouldn't say that either. I'm just saying that the romance aspect is coming to play in the manga. I don't think that alone is every reasons for him to turn evil. I would say it's probably his breaking point. It reminds me of The Dark Knight. You start to lose everything slowly and soon, lose the one you love the most. Once you lose that love, you will go into turmoil that even you cannot understand yourself.
It's interesting that Kishi is going through different aspects of bonds and it seems romance is slowly entering here, and Naruto is the key to it. Here's what I said in the manga section:
It's interesting to note that each arc Naruto understands more. Let's go back to Pain arc. This arc had many developments for him. One is the understanding of revenge, which relates to Sasuke. Remember in the beginning, he almost talk like Sasuke, which stirred Sakura in that one panel. Thankfully, he wasn't on vengeance, though he admits that he wants to kill Nagato so bad, which is truly understandable. The other development is to understanding the system of the ninja, which is told to be corrupted. Now, he is on the mission to fix it with his own hands, which everyone else is doing it with power and anger.
Kage Summit arc is Naruto's development to understand what it takes to bring back Team 7 and pretty much set up to fight Sasuke one last time to bring him back. Even if the world is against his idea, he will do it with his own hands. Now, if Naruto learns Obito's background, this will be the development for him to understand what will happen if he lose Sakura. Love is being played in this situation for Obito and it's given that Naruto will learn something from this. In fact, he will learn that he is the opposite of him. I can see why now Naruto constantly repeating, "I will become a Hokage." It just shows you the opposite of Obito, which he gave up on it. Love will be another one as Naruto may say something like, "It will take me days, months, or years, but no matter what, I will not give up." That and understanding the meaning of love. I can see Naruto getting more mature as he come across people who had difficult time.
Also, it seems like that Itachi's quote about Minato having Kushina and people support him largely being play in here. Sakura can be in Kushina's role, which makes perfect sense, especially her traits is similar to Rin (medic, Naruto's love interest). I can see Naruto looking worry for Sakura, which will trigger Obito that she is his love interest, not to mention it looks like Naruto will take a beating here, so Sakura will heal him.
The possibility is huge and already I can't wait for more.

Right, but loving Rin was not the problem, it was losing her that was. I just don't see Obito relating it to Sakura, effectively making her a problem or "the woman in the fridge" (archtype for a dead/ kidnapped woman serving as the main motivation behind a male character). It could make an interesting fanfic idea, I suppose.

Anything can happen. I do see Naruto may learn this if Kakashi is willing to tell him the story of Obito. Most likely, Kakashi will tell him that Obito is similar to Naruto in many ways. I don't know if Obito will use the tactic of making him feel the same as he is feeling about Rin happening, but I do think Naruto could feel something that should concern himself (like unable to protect Sakura). Like Nagato, Obito is playing a "what if Naruto..." role. Let's face it, Naruto's love for Sakura is strong and I mean, strong. Otherwise, he probably give up at one point. But that's besides the point. Let's not forget his battle against Gaara. He kept fighting and fighting, and when he was down, he stills kept going to the point that it even scares Gaara. If Naruto has to kill a man to save Sakura, it looks like he would have done it at one point. Hard to say, because Sasuke told him that she's okay, which stops Naruto from moving. I still remember those panels when he looks like he was going to lose, then look back at Sakura, then look back at Gaara with anger and determination. One of my favorite highlights from that chapter.
Anyway, who knows what will happen in the upcoming chapters. It's definitely going to be interesting.

Oh no, not that way, but try to kill her off or something in some sort. Something that will make Naruto do a speech and what not. I don't expect her to be a hostage, though maybe for a short while. I just know something will trigger Obito of his past life and Naruto and Sakura will be it. Let's not forget that Kakashi will get to say something during the fight, so I can bet that something like that. The opportunity is there. Chance right now is like at 60%. It will increase if Obito stays and Sakura is besides Naruto and the rest.
I know the focus is on Kakashi and Obito, but Naruto is going to be conflicted in this. Right now, Kakashi isn't himself anymore. He needs to wake up. Naruto will be the savior for him and I can bet that he will make a speech to Obito that they both can relate, not just in romance but in general. Remember, Naruto knows that he is the one who is responsible for his parents' death, so he got to be involved. Yeah, we don't know if Obito is really the killer, BUT right now, Naruto needs to stop him at all cost.

Um, I would love to answer you, but I got to go for now. I hope someone in here would fill you in. Besides, Sakura is hurt by Sasuke, so there's no positive feedback in that scene at all. I will just say this: Sakura's feelings for Naruto is going to be a plot twist and Kishi knows this well enough.

I honestly think that the events at the summit (in regards to Sasuke and Sakura) were purposefully intended to lead Sakura to this point - yes, chapter 540 showed that Sakura still loves Sasuke, but it also undeniably showed a drastic, negative change in her mental image of Sasuke as well.
Look at how she still thought of Sasuke at the summit during her failed attempt to kill him - all 12/13 year old Sasuke, the stoic one who told her thank you. Recall how many times Sakura was told (and thought herself) that Sasuke is no longer the person that he used to be.
540 shows us the direct result of the summit on Sakura's romantic feelings for Sasuke. The lover nin's whole purpose (imo) was to get Sakura to start reevaluating her feelings for Sasuke. Because honestly, why else would Kishimoto interrupt a serious, tense moment in the war to have some random guy give Sakura a love letter? To tell us that Sakura is in love with Sasuke and is sad about him being evil? Pretty sure we got the message clear last arc, if not all the other times before. But if its to instigate change in Sakura, then it makes sense. Who else is going to make comments like the lover nin did? That the person she loves must be a great person? No one who knows her and her feelings for Sasuke, that's for sure.
You also have to consider that Sasuke has never once shown any romantic or non-platonic interest in Sakura. This only adds to the likelihood that Sakura's romantic feelings for Sasuke were mainly for Sakura's character development, not so she could end up with Sasuke romantically in the end.
And then on top of all of that, Naruto still hasn't confessed to Sakura yet, and Sakura is the only one to have shown anything beyond friendship for the person who has an unrequited love for her. Imo, the recent NH and SS "moments" in the war are set up for both girls to resolve their feelings for the boys respectively, getting those two pairings resolved before NS progresses further (saving the best for last).
And yeah, there hasn't been any explicit NS moment since 540, but we did get Sakura's thoughts towards Naruto in 573, vaguely echoing Itachi's advice to Naruto.

sakura moved on from sasuke but still have leftovers feelings for him, that why we see her remembering him like in ch. 540 and you could see her hurt as nothing sasuke has done was right neither to her which there's not even a simple connection other than he was her team mate. sakura knows that she's fond and feel things for naruto and it's obvious not now that kishi wants from sakura to know for true and for real her true feelings for naruto, he's still keeping for future chapters and i'm sure not in this arc. the drama and romantic side of the manga is a little bit complicated with the slow continue of the story and its focus on action more plus he already told that he sucks at romance

Yes i hope so too and never gave up on them but it sucks, always when it seems like its going to happen it goes BOOM and kishi takes us back to the start.
