With NS being canon no Hinata fans would watch the movie unless she was involved in the plot and the movie was promoted as such.

 

That makes sense. Although personally I'm more excited to see grown up Hanabi. I bet she'll be like a female Neji.

 

I wonder if that ad about the "blank time" that we got today has been confirmed. I haven't seen any of the translators here take a look at it, and I don't know if Takl has seen it either

I would really want kishi to do it. Its his story afterall. He should be the one to direct it. Unless the director of anime does it.

Hi everyone my first post on here!

 

The way I see it is that Naruto would have to confess to Sakura first, and get closure there, before he would ever think of moving onto someone else (like Hinata). At the very least that will have to happen, but I think that is where NS will become canon. So, I don't think there is anything to worry about right now.

A user here post an ad that said the movie would take place in a "blank time" of the original story. Which we could take to mean that there will indeed be an epilogue in the manga and that the movie would happen before it.

It all makes sense now... The leftover hero is called Love, that's why the L is capitalize.

Before you bring this up: “Naruto doing his best” does not translate to “I’m doing my best to win Sakura over”.  That’s incorrect.  All he says is そこそこガンバってたんだ！”[I’d say] I’m doing my best!”  He’s just working hard in general, and acknowledges that not everything his mom told him will happen, being with someone like his mother is included in that. So, Kushina’s words are no longer (not that they really ever were) a good argument for pro-NS fans. Kishimoto is openly declaring with this scene that there are other possibilities out there; Naruto may not end up with a woman like his mom (temper/personality wise). The statement also does not specifically say he has done the opposite of her words, but it’s possible that could also happen (again, context!). Then there is the possibility Naruto will end up with no one.

 

I thought a bit about this, and on the surface, it's a good argument. But at the same time, it has it's flaws. I don't really have the raws or anything so I may not be 100% accurate. But I compared the two scenes.

 

In truth, there are already things he has accomplished and went well.

Going to bed early, having proper hygiene, making a ton of good friends. (Which is true, but the last part not so much; all his friends being 'really good guys'. It really shows when the panel moves to Sasuke for a moment.) I didn't take the studies thing as a big deal since he's already out of the academy. Kushina said that even if he's not good at it, to not let it get him down. To which Naruto says he doesn't let it get him down because he's confident.

He didn't really watch out for Jiraiya, except finding him to be an amazing teacher that he learned a lot from. He kind of brushes off the alcohol part and doesn't mention money at all. He also has a dream that he's never going to give up on, which is to become Hokage.

He stumbles over his words when it comes to a women like her, for what reason I believe, is because his situation with Sakura is complicated. We gotta remember that he still believes that she is in love with Sasuke. Heck, it may or may not be possible that he took her confession with some truth which led to the, "I guess you can say she's my girlfriend." Although some translations have Naruto say, "If you're splitting hairs". Which is an idiom for, "Arguing whether the small details or unimportant details are exactly correct or not" and/or "to argue about very small differences or unimportant details" and/or "to quibble; or to try and make petty distinctions".

So it's not exactly like Naruto was joking with Minato. But he wasn't exactly stating it as fact either. Like I said, it's complicated. If anything, that might be what was trying to go through.
Naruto hasn't completely won Sakura's heart yet. Or he may have and Sakura hasn't realized this yet. But in his eyes, he hasn't.

It's foreshadowed that Naruto will confess to Sakura. So I'm not too worried.

 

Naruto did, however, through his girlfriend comment, did tell Minato that Sakura is the girl he's interested in. And through the stuttering before Minato disappeared, basically told him that they aren't really a thing yet.

 

Think about it. With the information that Minato was given, it would be safe to say that he's expecting Naruto to aim for Sakura. If Naruto just suddenly went with Hinata, that would confused the heck out of Minato and Kushina! (Why do Minato and Kushina even matter? Other characters can be used as devices for these sort of things.)

 

We, the readers know, that the only things that weren't going well in Kushina's wish for Naruto is Sasuke and Sakura. His best friend and his love interest. It's been this way all through Part 2. Heck, practically through the series. Naruto's destiny is entwined with those two, ever since the academy days.

Naruto saying that he's doing his best means that he's still working on fixing those problems. And because those problems exist, he can't really say everything is going exactly as Kushina's advice/wish. But he's still doing his best and he's fine so they don't have to worry about him.

 

Since this is tech. the debate thread, I figured I would toss a counter argument towards this Anti-NS/Pro-NH post.
I hope what I wrote made sense. I sometimes fail at getting a point through or putting my thoughts down correctly and things like that.

I forgot to focus on this sentence.

Considering the topic is about Kushina's words, I don't think working hard in general is the case here. He didn't openly imply that his best friend wasn't a good guy. That's why the readers got a brief panel of Sasuke. (Panels are relevant since Naruto's words seemed to match the panels, like the panel of the 3rd Hokage while Naruto was saying he did respect the third.) The only one he hesitated on was the girl part. Yes, he could be saying he's doing his best in all of Kushina's words, but that does include finding a girl like her. Considering Naruto doesn't have a defeatist attitude, nor does he really do things half way, for him to go "eh not everything will go the way mom said" doesn't seem in character for him. Naruto does things all the way. That's how he has redeemed nonredeemable characters like Obito and Nagato (Zabuza and Haku?).
To do your best is to plan to succeed. Especially in Japan. It's a common saying.
