This goes back to my issue of "Lois is just an ordinary person. WW is better..." I don't like that a lot of people have this mindset that super's should stay with supers and ordinary people with ordinary people. "Wonderwoman is super strong, she's more capable of physically handing SM then Lois!"
To me it speaks of far greater love that rather then having to be capable of "handling him." Clark can temper himself--a show of his love and conviction to the woman he loves.
Also, I grew up on Lois/Superman, soooooooooo.
I don't like that Batman is a play boy either. In fact it bothers me that he's had as many love interests as he's had. I don't like the rampant promiscuity in western comics both in regards to MEN and WOMEN. Seeing Starfire in the TV show and then in the comics nearly turned me off completely towards comics...
I'd love it Bruce either cut women out entirely or you know...committed but that's not going to happen, So I just ignore getting attatched to any of his love interests.
Excluding Catwoman of course
I don't mind that OTHER people ship SM/WW, but its not my cup of tea, and I don't appreciate a lot of the arguments proponents for it have used.
Fair enough, but I am just sick of people bashing Superman and Wonder Woman when really it is not that bad. Hell, they did both in Kingdom Come where Lois eventually passes and then Superman and Wonder Woman fall in love. So why not?
The sad part is, this can relate to Naruto in that even in DC comics it shows how more and more people care more about the couplings than the story. Here, Superman and Wonder Women have scenes of true love, support, and care of each other. Just like Naruto and Sakura we love. In fact, some scenes are almost identical. Yet, instead of looking at the story they rather automatically hate it because "We love Superman and Lois more." Superman and Wonder Woman could have the best written comic of all time with the greatest true realistic love....and yet people will hate it over that pairing choice...which makes me upset and sad
Superman and Lois can sometimes be seen as NaruHina....she is always in danger...and he always has to save her. (Let's be honest, most renditions of Lois have her being this damsel in distress role.) It depends on the writer, but sometimes Lois is depicted as purposely putting herself in danger and expecting Superman to save her. Sometimes even Lex Lampshades this by making this a huge plot to lure out Superman. Sometimes cliche.
1st Bolded: I grew up with both. :)
2nd Bolded: -sigh- oh boy this debate again.
That's all I have to say.
Like Naruto, I feel people jsut don't read the New 52 and really see SM and WW relationship as it is and it is really good, but they ignore it because like you just said "I grew up with Lois and Superman and I hate change."
So this only support my claim that we care too much about pairings than we do about actual story telling. In New 52, it is not like Superman dumped Lois and went for Wonder Woman. The relationship was planned from the start because they wanted something different.
