and Naruto cant die, he's the main character right?
Being the main character doesn't mean your survival is guaranteed, actually. There are many manga and anime series where the main character and/or tons of charactes die (and it doesn't matter if it is shonen, shojo, seinen or josei manga). However I don't want giving names because I would be spoiling those series to people want reading them or watching them.
However Naruto isn't that sort of series, so don't worry: the main character is safe.
That said, when I read Choji and Neji battles versus the Sound Five I knew from the start they would not die and I am still mistified at the fact of there were people thoughttheir demises were an actual possibility. I thought it was obvious from the beginning Naruto was not the kind of series where anybody or nearly everybody can die.
I am not bothered by it. To me, the suspense and the thrill usually come out from how the hero/heroine will get himself/herself out from trouble, not if he or she will survive or not. I am not against reading/watching series where many people dies, but if the body count is too high, it can diminish my enthusiasm (I have troubles getting on many Yoshiyuki Tomino's shows -such like Gundam Z, Zambot 3, Ideon or Dunbine- for that reason. What is the point of watching them? I already know the end! Everybody or almost everybody will die or find a fate worst than death. The End)
