A good journalist knows what i'm talking about but authors who write books don't always keep this principle in mind.

Ohh! I remember like 1 sec after I posted this! Um, about Naruto putting Chakra into -Oh my god... I forgot her name xD Moe- ugh... Anyways, I don't know if the Manga chapter was out yet when you published that chapter but remember when Sakura was hit by Naruto? Kyûbi chakra has a poison affect, the opposite of healing. But, it's your fic so... ^^
EDIT... Again: I remember her name! Moegi! I think... <.<

Many bits of data like that, names, and events which were explained after this fanfic was started are incompatible with the plot I had when I started. So, kyubi's chakra isn't necessarily poisonous, there are no such people as Danzo, Kushina, or Minato (well, Minato existed under a different name), Itachi was evil, etc., etc. Essentially, anything learned after the "Rescue Gaara" section should be ignored for the purposes of this fanfic.

Ahh... I see. Well, I figured there was no Kushina because... Anko's her xD and Arashi(?) Is Minato. (I think that's the name)
I found the Chapter where Naruto was getting votes to be Hokage or not, quite amusing. I'm not sure why though...

Status --
Working on Fanfiction: No. Well, not unless you count brainstorming -- I've got several ideas in mind, but haven't done any writing on fanfiction in a while.
Working on Original Fiction: Yeah, lots. Nothing notable published yet, but two completed novels (one of which was nearly published save for a lousy agent messing up an already completed deal, dammit) moving through publishers' slush piles, and another novel being edited. I'm also thinking of self-publishing a couple different series of short stories... (actually, it's more than that. I'm thinking of putting both short story series together and using them as "content" in an effort to launch either some sort of on-line short story magazine or a short story small print-press\limited e-publishing business where I'll publish science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, and\or espionage thrillers (all things I feel interested in reading and qualified to edit) by others as well as myself, with the noted distinction that I feel horror does NOT belong grouped with the Sci-fi\Fantasy genre, so will not be touching horror)
Other news: Well, I'm putting together a small set of scripts for a hockey-superhero themed webcomic (partly in response to the absolutely terrible "Stan Lee's Guardian Project," though I actually had this idea growing in my head before the Guardian Project was ever mentioned), but when I get enough together to make it worth it I'll need an artist to do the drawing -- I'm not completely incompetent as an artist, but my skills are more architectural and layout-oriented; I'm terrible with organic shapes like people. I'm also setting up a forum for those short stories mentioned in the "Original Fiction" section, which you can find here. (registration is now open, but I won't really be approving anyone until I put together some sort of set of rules\terms of conduct\etc.). Also as part of that project, I was putting together an Amazon.com A-Store of books I think should be included in the library of any aspiring author of fantasy, historical fiction, science fiction, and\or steampunk fiction (which sort of crosses all three genre).
As far as Training for the Job goes... well, when I've got the short story thing ready, I might be able to resume posting those chapters which have been completed but not posted. And then maybe complete the darned thing....

If, by "update," you mean "revision and rewrite to conform to what has been learned about the Narutoverse since the fanfic was begun that contradicts canon," don't hold your breath. If you mean "I want new chapters," well, I just posted what all I'm doing, there.

Have a novelist friend who went the pod route while wading through agents, editors, etc. He said the traditional process was so depressing. It was helpful to have the book in hand to give to family and friends. And he's done a modest business on amazon. He's still pursuing publishing it, but he said having a nicely finished product made all the difference for him to feel like he'd completed the project. And he sounds the same as you, juggling mutiple projects and interests.
Anyway, random internet vote for self publishing? Check!

Well, I still intend to go through traditional publishers for my novels. The thing is, after looking into it for a while, the economics of it are that you make more money (and get FAR more readers) publishing a novel through a traditional publisher, but you should be able to make a little more money (and get about the same, maybe a touch more or a touch less, number of readers) self-publishing a short story, largely because of the differing pay structure of the two. For novels through a traditional publisher, you're best off being paid royalties (usually with an advance, but unless your sales are especially bad or your advance is unusually high, you make up your advance by the end of the first printing and then some); for short stories, you're best off being paid by the word.
If you COULD get paid royalties for short stories (which, because they are typically sold in a magazine collection where tracking individual story sales is... problematic, and therefore rarely done), that would be far better -- you'd get the advantages of a traditional publisher (from what I feel I could offer, it would include editing, help with marketing, proof that there is at least some quality control on your story, and usually the fees associated with filing your copyright and buying your ISBN number are covered (depending on number of sales and how your publishing contract is worded, you can actually make more money on royalties than you would make after paying for copyright and ISBNs yourself when self-publishing; most publishers can afford that because they can get discounts by buying ISBNs in bulk)) and more pay than current traditional short-story publishing models.
Thanks to my late father, I understand a lot about how the business model of a small press publisher works, and I think years of studying the business (trying to sell my novels) I've got an idea of how e-publishing works. I think you could combine the two to make an effective business publishing individual short stories... which is what I'm considering doing. I just want to see how well the model works by testing it with my own short stories, first....

completely redoing a fanfiction because it contradicts canon is silly. (unless it's really short o.O)

I remembered, the first few times I read about it, that the Mokuton was an ability of the Second Hokage, so it was the 2nd's cells that were injected into Yamato. I've also read several fanfics which made the same reference, so I can't be the only one who saw that, and Yamato sure as heck LOOKS more like the 2nd hokage than anyone else from Naruto "history." However, right now, everything I can find when looking up the specifics of the technique claims its the FIRST Hokage's cells that were injected into Yamato, and that, in fact, it was the Shodaime who was famous for his use of the Mokuton.
Since I really can't remember the chapters of the manga to look it up in, can someone who's competent in citing chapter and verse of the manga either confirm one or the other version of the story, and\or post for me the chapter to look it up, myself, with?
Also, a second thing: I'm starting up something at http://www.maelgyn.com/forums that's an original-fiction project for me. I'm not really ready to open it up for "general access" just yet (haven't written a proper terms-of-service, yet, among other things), but I really would appreciate it if three or four "real" people (as opposed to the spammers who keep trying to use names that appear on all the "spammer-kill on sight" e-mail\url lists) would register, there, and help me by testing out some forum features I'd like to install. I know, from other message boards, that sometimes features which show up for an admin and moderators don't show up for regular users, and would like some people to test these features for me.

Reviewers sometimes get... picky, about stuff like that. When it comes to whose DNA was injected into whom, it's going to be pretty obnoxious if I make a mistake.
Edit:
Incidentally, as a sort of quasi-Teaser for the new fic, I figured I would post the Preface (aka Author's Notes... though hopefully, this time, there will only be one large batch of them) for the fic. Er, a tiny part of the preface is presumptive-truth-for-when-this-is-formally-posted rather than truth, right now, but the fic-related parts are all accurate.

Well well, it's good to hear that your creative style for Naruto isn't dead. Honestly I say your new story sounds like a good read and it ain't even writen yet. Lol
As for the shodai/nidaime mokuton question. I always heard shodai, but started reading the manga like 50 chapters into part two.
