Yeah they no longer look like themselves. Their faces are round, particularly Naruto's; Sasuke looks significantly younger while Naruto looks older; and neither of them have that slightly dumpy, squidgy-around-the-middle look that Kishimoto always loves to draw.
The other noticeable thing is that Naruto really stands out, while Sasuke fades to the background with his blue-black clothes, almost to the point that his legs inside the cape look like a smudge. Kishimoto would never draw Sasuke this way. I've lamented this before, Sasuke always gets the cool-guy dynamic pose, while Naruto almost always is fit in around him. Not the other way around. But Kishimoto is always certain to keep Sasuke in the standout pose, never letting him fade to the background, even in the all black akatsuki cape. The illustration here is heavily focused on Naruto, while Sasuke absolutely fades into the background with his Sai face and his bruise-colored clothes.
I think they look so awful because they are drawn completely by someone else. They look like the style of the animation from The Last, rather than Kishimoto's manga style. So it may be that all movie/anime art is produced by SP, even the promotional materials in the magazines, while Kishimoto just gets the check for the original concept art. He's clearly still responsible is for the manga artwork. But it may that he's washed his hands of everything else.
This would also explain why the movie was so heavily romantic and Hinata focused, and yet the manga (thankfully) hasn't managed to show her at all yet. They're coming from two different creative sources.
(Obvious, I know, but things like this just reaffirm my theory that Kishimoto's fulfilling his part of the contract on the manga and cashing in on everything else.)
