Been a while since I've been here :)

 

Just watched the first episode of Tokyo Ghoul A

 

Don't know if it was me, but I wasn't really feeling it, I think it's more of waiting to see what happens in the manga btw Touka and Kaneki. I swear I never used to be into shipping that much before, now everytime I read a manga/watch an anime I'm shipping a couple lol. Anyways, what did everyone else think about the episode.

Yeah I told her about it yesterday just before we started watching Tokyo Ghoul yesterday.

True I will have to agree on that for sawyer reviewing Legend of Korra they were pretty amazing.

I do too actually, and I remember when he got spoiled for AoT he was pissed to the limit like stay away from this guy if you see him.

I'm interested to hear what your cousin will say to the first episode. Will she be vehemently complain and welcome the orginal story crafted by none other than Ishida Sui?

When I reflect back to the episode, I've noticed how some people said that the were left cold and didn't feel anything. To me it is obvious that these people are the Manga readers. I mean even I felt the same thing in certain scenes such as the scene when Kaneki rescues Touka. It was way more emotional and dramatic in the manga. Here you the impression that the producers were like: "Keep going, keep going, we don't need this emotional Manga moment. We can make it up with some other scene."

You might frown upon this a little, but I sometimes think that the Legend of Korra had a questionable pacing when it came to character development and feels sometimes. Similar to this episode.

Well, you already know that this was intended to be completely deviating from the manga. The only thing you can do is to try to seperate the manga from the anime mentally as hard as it is. I understand what you mean though: I was also disappointed that we did not get to see a) a better Touken scene from Ch.71/72 and b) that 103 bones- just saying.

How did shipping become this important to you? Maybe it's just an impulse now I guess? Naruto actually made me step down with shippings XD I realized now that shipping can often distort your view on a manga and make you loose sight of what the actual focus of the manga is all about. I've just started Haikyuu; you've probably heard of it, right? It's a fantastic volleyball anime and manga. No shipping whatsoever- but I'm hella addicted to it

As for the episode, it was a pretty solid one. I was very dissatisfied with Kaneki's overall representation. He is emotionless, but in the wrong way. And I just don't feel like voice actor is fully impersonating Kaneki.

The opening s*cks monkeyballs XD The ending is pretty good. But the one song that I really liked was the song played while Kaneki was leaving Touka- that scene was so touching to me T_T

I think the main things we need to look out for are Uta and those damn clowns in general.
As for Uta, I've noticed that after I read his bio on wiki XD It's weird enough that he never turns of his Kakugan in his eyes if you ask me.
Kanou is probably one of my hated characters, imao. I knew from the start that this doctor wasn't trustworthy at all. Maybe he'll become a half-ghoul himself, who knows. Maybe it's one of those typical tropes in which he lost his wife or child that caused him to be such a nihilist regarding the human race.
Me, too! I was like: Goddamnit! They messed it up! I wanted some slow motion and emotional music, but nope, didn't happen. But the ending broke my heart! Touka and Kaneki need to suffer even more in here T_T

this was blatantly obvious but I didn't even think anything of it before, I facepalmed pretty hard when I read it:

Ta has his Kakugan on plenty of times, it's just hard to see. He had it when he first met Kaneki and he had it throughout the entire Aogiri arc. Kanoe is an ass. I also hated how they changed the Ayato fight.

Also, just thought this was interesting: in chapter 78 It was revealed that the 11th ward war was a distraction by Aogiri, what their real intention turned out to be was actually a jailbreak from the prison in the 23rd ward.

Notice how Tartara says that they didn't reach the deepest level, only the SS level. Keep in mind, Eto is an SSS rated ghoul. What was further down in that prison then?

That sounds like a hard and almost painful task. B/c not many couple can compare to NaruSaku. As much as I love Touken for example, their significant/romantic moments is limited to a few chapters- so far. The rest is still up in the air. I hope that your search for the right ship will have an end one day.

She told me that she'll usually watch all of her anime on Saturdays just because school just started for her and she'd rather spent Monday thru Friday on school. I don't really blame her considering how crazy things are on her end for school.

I think she'll welcome the original story with open arms since it is from Sui ishida the mangaka himself.

Honestly I felt the exact the same thing when I was watching the episode. Plus I also think that's what was going on in the producer's head when they were making this episode.

Tbh I felt that Korra also had it's questionable pacing towards the character development and storytelling from time to time. Season 1.
