Yeah.. how do you guys feel about Hiro Mashima as a writter?


Me personally I think he's great at writing stories good examples are Rave Master and Fairy Tail Zero.

I think when it comes to Fairy Tail (the main series) I feel that he's either trying to do something creative, or he's restraining the way his storytelling style was in Rave Master and Fairy Tail.. I mean I feel the closest Hiro has gotten to the same feeling that Rave Master and Fairy Tail Zero did was the Tartarus Arc... idk do you guys feel that I might be jumping to conclusions, and just wait until this arc comes to an end, or am I on to something?

I wouldn't care naruto Destoryed all my expectations so I care not for anything I go with the flow with fairy tail. Plus nothing is worse than naruto's ending.

Out of curiosity how long do you guys think we have until this arc comes to an end? 

 

I think we've pretty much gotten all of the spriggan's left and the only one left is August.. so I wanna say maybe 7 or 8 chapters at the most, unless this is actually the final arc in the series which now I'm kinda hoping it isn't given how the second half of this arc has been going.

 

I feel that Acnologia himself needs his own arc along with Zeref (if he makes it out)

If Acnologia is the final villain, I think we could see this ending in April at the earliest (assuming Mashima picks up the pace). If not, I give the manga until fall to end.

Dunno know there's still alot to get over with zeref and acnologia those might take awhile as both a not push overs maybe there will be more after the arc. I'm wondering what Gray will do to natsu if e.n.d is really gone.

He's not a great story writer, imo. Eventhought his idea is good.

Depending on how many villain left. It could end in this year or maybe next year.

Haven't read it yet but for what I remember it was good and didn't chicken out of it's ending with haru and elie.

Overall it is a great story, there are a elements that could be better, and a couple of arcs that were not so great but on the whole I'd say it's a must read, you can see the inspirations for the main cast of Fairy Tail as well. With Gray being the least changed, well technically Jellal is the closest in terms of looks, but characteristics and backstory Grays is the closest.

 

This does work against Fairy Tail, as everyone who has read both stories can see the similarities and can tell allot of characters designs and traits and story elements have been taken from the earlier work but overall it feels like it doesn't live up to the previous works story, when most were expecting a more polished restructured and improved story. Which I do believe it started off as, however for me atleast Tenrou Island, (maybe even when Jellal was bought back) showed the realisation that Hiro was not willing to push the envelope with the characters, as he was with Rave Master, which is why the story struggles to reach the heights it could.

 

Reading FT Zero, you know you know what levels he can reach, I wonder if this is another case of publishers censoring mangaka for the sake of the western market.

Hardly. The western market is the last thing on their minds (although they do consider it sometimes). I think it's more of a case of the editors trying to play it safe too much. There's also the fact one of his editors (I don't know if he's the current one) heavily favors the fanservice and forces him to do more of it. Wouldn't be surprised if he asked to Mary-sue Erza too.

Honestly to me Erza hasn't been interesting since the time she fought a 100 monsters in the grand magic games, the Eillen stuff was finally starting to get invested with her again then it ends in the most anti climatic way posible

I'll be honest shipping is not my biggest concern with Fairy Tail mainly since I feel it's obvious, but since we didn't get Shinachiku in Naruto with Naruto and Sakura.. I have no doubt that Hiro will not only make NaLu canon, but I wonder will Nashi Dragneel (The child that most NaLu shippers talk about) come into existence or some other NaLu child instead?
