Actually Viz this time got the girlfriend part right, it was another scanlation (I believe it was Mangastream's) that wrote girlfriend like this: "girl-friend", that's why people think Naruto was confused about his father's question.
Though they totally twisted Kushina's last words during the girlfriend part. In the raw it was written: Don't find a weird one, find someone like me", while Viz wrote " don't fall for the first one you see, find someone like me". Even worse, in the Italian version they wrote: "don't fall for the good for nothing, find someone like your mother".
A good reason why ship wars are created is due misleading translations, that's why I don't rely too much on any of them.

Well the translations between like mangapanda, stream, and mangahere, there are bound to be issues. I was well aware of the girlfriend issue and how others tried to twist it but this mainly stemmed from the fact that pre 631 all fans claimed Kushina as important but when 631 came, they turn away from Kushina saying she is wrong, does not matter, minato was wrong, or the words or context was different. This is stuff made for middle schoolers to be albe to understand, to twist it this much is just terribly sad and ugh no wonder this issues of fandom rise up and just make everything harder than it needs to be, this is the reason why I wrote that topic fans make everything harder than it really is, it's buried somewhere here on the site, you can see it in my profile under the topics I started. Anyways just fandom can take things really off chart from time to time, this is just one case, again I say if we get a confession, trigger moment for ns to become canon how would they desribe it? So the real issue here is not so much the translations issues like experience, knowledge, accuracy, context, and bias, it's also the preception of the fan and how they react to the scene, this case being trying to separate the words of girl and friend as just basic when it's intended as the romantic partner. It's not hard to do it, it means girlfriend, lover, female partner, it's romantically intended no matter how much others deny it.

Sushi is right "datte" from what Naruto was saying is not "dattebayo", it is a colloquial form of "desu tte", meaning that Naruto meant that Sakura herself "more or less" said she was his girlfriend.

Edit. Sorry I didn't read everyone's post clearly. But Naruto was not saying dattebayo, or about to. So I'm sorry sushi and others ^^.

 

So Naruto is holding Sakura accountable for her confession? Is that what is implied in 631?

 

Would that mean Naruto accepts that Sakura wants to be his girlfriend but that the issue with Sasuke makes it complicated for now?

It's funny how contradicting it can sound because now that we are here, it's like bias translator are like, "Ah kitten, I really thought NH was going to be canon," and the editor is like "And I really thought you will be good. You're fired." But regardless, the "find someone like me," it's heavily significant, so just be glad that we got down. We are that good.
 
So about FT, I don't blame you about the recent events. Shame, I really like your art of FT. Too identical. That's just wonderful talent. Gifted.

Yeah see, we knew Kishi was hinting A Sakura parallel during Kushina's speech: aside from the words used in the RAW, we also took in consideration the similarities between the 2 females, which were really obvious.
As always, we got bashed because apparently we took the parallel "too far" and used it to "poorly" justify our pairing, thus it was considered pointless, so I'm really glad we got the confirmation, once again, that our opinions were correct.

Btw, speaking of parallels, the Jiraiya novel has really big hints for future NS moments, one of these was about Sakura realizing her true feelings for Naruto. Her sensei told her to close her eyes and focus on the thing that most makes her happy, she of course, realizes it's Naruto.
Unfortunately the novel has an open ending and we couldn't see them reunite again.
I hope the manga will make up for that xD

Plus it was interesting to see lots of scenes, already happened in the manga, narrated in the novel aswell. It was full of déjà vu

Do you think someone will ask Sakura what most makes her happy in the future chapters? I really think we will get something along those lines, well, I hope so.

I personally don't like naruhina :/ I simply see no evidence where both Naruto and Hinata grow any kind of relationship with each other. Maybe I'm wrong? I'm more of shipper for people who actually grow up together, bond, get hurt together, suffer, have the same goal, etc. With Narusaku, I see chemistry on both sides. Hinata IS really sweet in regards with her love for Naruto, but it's obvious Naruto doesn't share the same feelings for her. 

 

I'm personally not going to get my hopes up in the end. I wouldn't be surprised if Kishi paired Naruto and Hinata since for some reason they're more popular to fans. I would be happy if narusaku was the official pair (if there are pairings at all).

 

Now the thing I hate the most is the hate towards Sakura as a character. In the 1st part, she was pretty lame and rather useless (I know you said no bashing, but hear me out).. but now she's grown and it's obvious. So why do people still hate her? She's officially on the same level as Naruto and Sasuke. She became my #1 favorite character. We get the chance to see her develop (just like we get to see Naruto develop) and I think out of any characters, Naruto and Sakura are showing more growth. Maybe that's subliminal for pairing in the future?

Personally I prefer Mangapanda because while they have grammar mistakes etc, their translations are very blunt and one of the most accurate to the raw. Mangastream add in what ever they like.

 

Remember when they called Hinata a "missus"? XD In the raw it was just "girl".

 

Not to mention mangastream love to advertise nh and ss artwork more than mangapanda just has memes at the bottom of the page that bash sakura and ns. Which makes me want to ask does anyone else notice those internet memes in mangapanda?

Yes that's the implication. I'm sure Naruto will bring it up in the future (her confession).

Don't worry, it's alright to think she has been useless. I also think Sakura was useless in most of part 1, but I have no problem with that.

 

I think she was meant to be the underdog, because that's her journey. Naruto likes the underdogs too.   She went from being a weak little fangirl who's greatest desire was to be in a relationship with Sasuke Uchiha, to a warrior that understands what it means being a kunoichi. One that takes charge, doesn't back down and always do their best.

 

Sakura is a very good character in my opinion, but she's poorly written. (Imagine an artist painting a masterpiece just to put it behind them) The poor writing has dragged her down, but it looks like Kishimoto is getting interested in writing her again.

Yes.

 

Kishimoto said Sakura wasn't lying. I am going take his word for it. Even I had my doubts before, but if he says the confession is sincere, it is sincere. At least the part about Naruto.

 

It wasn't even a question, so he was not forced to answer. He just found out many people disliked Sakura's confession, and responded that he tried to write her as honest and determined.

Because if in that time Naruto confronted with a student of his master, this time he's confronting with one that was identical to him in the past and also the pupil of his father and current master.

And Obito, like Nagato, fell into total despair after the death of a loved one.

There is something I find really interesting about the confession of the girls:

 

Sakura: She did something that is considered by people as something selfish (lie), but her reasons were selfless since she was only thinking about  Naruto's feelings.

 

Hinata: She did something that is considered by people as something selfless (jumping in front of Pain). but her reasons were selfish since she was thinking about her own feelings.

 

I wonder what Kishi was planning with this ..

You know, I do think Sakura needs a time to think because I feel like the whole reason why we are seeing NaruSaku moments is because it's building up to become a grand total. Remember how Sasuke got to rethink everything that him and Itachi interacted? It all adds up to the answer of not destroying the village, rather do something right, even though it's not a "good" way. The point is when you recollect everything, you would realize your true answer and/or true feeling. I can imagine a two page spread of all NS moments and she will draw a grand conclusion of her loving Naruto. This technique happened in many media, notably FMA. So I do think Sakura needs to recollect her thoughts and see who she truly feels.

Sakura should be portrayed as realizing that what she felt for Sasuke previously was not the true love that she feels for Naruto right now.

 

Part of the reason I think her confession became so awkward is that in her rush to protect Naruto she concluded that she simply switched her feelings for Sasuke towards Naruto instead of thinking further and realizing that what she feels for Naruto is entirely different, more strong.

 

Even if Sakura was being honest in saying she loves Naruto I'm sure she still hasn't realized the extent of that love, and what she felt for Sasuke wouldn't even come close to what she feels for Naruto. That's what needs to be resolved for her character arc to conclude.
